maybe thats the real lesson this game is teaching us, Irony.Since this issue popped up during the weekend and it's monday now I fully expect CDPR to address this issue today in some other capacity than "we might fix it" or "just dont play lol"
An actual fix is most probably going to be after the holidays which is a bummer but those devs have earned their christmas break.
However, some corpo PR monkey better give us some proper acknowledgement of the issue today with some info on what should we expect and when. This is way too big to just go fully silent on.
honestly we should refund it at this point, I just have a love for the story and am attached to it now. i know it wouldv ebeen better to have never bought it at this point though. This is nuts bout save files , I saw video today that CDPR said this game is intended to play from start to finish , repeat .
What if you beat game then go back to a save before end quest just to have immersion and Freeroam on going , they saying we can't do this , so much for saying it's a open world game , we limited to a play time basically , this 2020 . They need fix this or alot players will quit cyberpunk , if it's not one thing it's something else with this game![]()
I wouldn't count on it. We'll be lucky if this will be fixed in some January or February patch. Until then it will be the amazing "just don't play the game you paid for" level of support. However, some corpo PR monkey better give us some proper acknowledgement of the issue today with some info on what should we expect and when. I'm having second thoughts now to be honest , we playing a PS2 game in 2020 lolhonestly we should refund it at this point, I just have a love for the story and am attached to it now. i know it wouldv ebeen better to have never bought it at this point though.
Yeah. We're lucky if this get fixed in Jan. And we also need to take in mind what we should do while waiting that long. Like should we play happily till we reach near the 8mb limit then stop if we're near it even though we're gonna suffer with the black screen during every loading for at least 1-2 minute? I mean if we do that we're not even sure what the fix is gonna be. Will they increase the 8mb cap? Or will existing saves just go smaller when you save after the next patch? I mean we don't have any idea. That's why I'm stopping now while I'm just at 5.2mb because we really have no idea what's gonna be the fix or if they'll fix it in the first place.I wouldn't count on it. We'll be lucky if this will be fixed in some January or February patch. Until then it will be the amazing "just don't play the game you paid for" level of support.
Yep agreed , we have a different game to what was advertised , when heard bout cyberpunk I was so happy , my kinda game , but now just disappointed with things in it and top that we limited to play time with save cap , it's not Devs fault who made game , they worked so hard .Just a update from my side.
I was very active in the beginning of this thread cause i ran in this problem quite early.
The current situation of CDPR not really adressing this, that a fix is not in sight and that the community has not yet found a way to fix this (usually this happens earlier than from the devs itself at games with big player numbers) lead me to the decission to ask for a refund on steam.
I hope they will accept. I keep my savefiles but I step back from the game for now,
Maybe in half a year or so when there have been major patches and it is on sale I´ll give it a shot again.
Also, this was my last ever preorder. I paif full price to support the studio and what they are doing, but theay advertised a different game then what was delivered.
Thanks to everyone in this Thread who took this serously for the good conversation and testing arround this issue and I hope that you can progress with your game soon.
The issue here is, there may be no way to get it to function with the way the game is written to include more data. There may be other settings tied to changing this even.If anyone can figure this out, I found a few lines of code in the CP2077.exe using a hex editor that, when searching for the key word "save", I find multiple lines like MaxSaveSizeTotal, MaxSaveSize, PoolSaveData, etc.
If someone can figure out how to change the values that these lines set (8MB) maybe then we can raise the size limit on the save file size. Obviously this might cause issues but maybe it won't, or if it does it will let us play the game beyond the 8MB limit until the devs release a fix.
This is what I mean, the consoles may be having a similar issue but in a different way or just completely different parameters, regardless, their files are in fact being corrupted. From what I've read, the 12mb on PlayStation isn't the individual file size persay. Its the space allotment per each individual save file. It stays a static 12mb no matter what, from start to finish. Hence how PlayStation users can't actually determine their save file's actual size. They will always see the 12mb, even if their save is only 3mb or 4mb. So a PlayStation user can't really be 100% sure their save corrupted due to hitting 8mb or for some other reason.
Edit: Xbox doesn't do that though. It shows the collective size of all saves together. The only way to determine a specific save file's size is to delete every other save and leave that specific save as the only one. Then the save file will show its size as its the only file there.
The sad fact is this popped up nearly a week ago. It only gained traction in the review sites this weekend. But if you check the first post in the thread here and elsewhere, you'll see this isnt something that just popped up a day or two ago.Since this issue popped up during the weekend and it's monday now I fully expect CDPR to address this issue today in some other capacity than "we might fix it" or "just dont play lol"

That's always depending on if it's even fixable in the first place... it is an engine limitation, afterall. The sad fact is this popped up nearly a week ago. Just checked first page. It looks like the thread was merged with an older one. But the first comment that has to do with the 8mb and "damaged" save files was Tuesday the 15th.
Hopefully with the media outlets bashing the game like they did with the console graphics and stability, CDPR will address this next.

Yup that's the scary thing really. We all know that the devs need a vacation time too but if this goes on longer who knows how many more will experience this and it will cause more chaos. It's only been 10 days since release and it's quite unheard of to hit a save file limit this EARLY in its release. They have to provide a fix for this and this issue, in common sense, should be the highest priority over all other known issues to address, because it actually breaks the whole progress of the player.
I am sure they will follow to bring a hotfix that'll probably just address this problem within the next few hours or days, maybe before Christmas even. If they don't, it'll lead to a new massive sh*tstorm that already begun and things for CP77 will end up even worse apart from the massive bugs scene.
Yeah this is what I'm scared of. They didn't fix this for TW3. Who knows why? Engine limitations? Very few people experiencing the bug? Who knows. But afaik it didn't show up after a week of release. Just hoping for the best at this point because I don't think Steam will accept the refund anymore after a long playtime. That's always depending on if it's even fixable in the first place... it is an engine limitation, afterall.
In a way, it really is the ultimate bug that puts an end to any and all illusions this game was ever intended to be an epic, open world RPG, ment to be played for hours and hours... that may sound hyperbolic, but that's the impression I get at this point.
Pretty sure it is just kind of like early access right now.. At least, at this point, that's how I'm feeling about this & I don't blame the developers who crunched already..That's always depending on if it's even fixable in the first place... it is an engine limitation, afterall.

Honestly... having myself a fair share of experience in software development... I couldn't even rightly tell you who's fault it really is. Sure, money is always a driving factor, but there also usually is ego and a whole lot of powerplay involved when stuff like this happens.Pretty sure it is just kind of like early access right now.. Yes, but here's the issue where myself and other console players are becoming confused about this; This is what I mean, the consoles may be having a similar issue but in a different way or just completely different parameters, regardless, their files are in fact being corrupted.
Either in gameservices.ini or nowhere. If it is nowhere, just created an ini file in <cyberpunk_dir>\engine\config\platform\pc\In what file is this option?
I did a while back but it didn't fix the problem. But since you can test if the ini method is really working it might be worth a shot. Just create a an ini file in <cyberpunk_dir>\engine\config\platform\pc\ with the following content:If someone can figure out how to change the values that these lines set (8MB) maybe then we can raise the size limit on the save file size. Obviously this might cause issues but maybe it won't, or if it does it will let us play the game beyond the 8MB limit until the devs release a fix.
