Save system not working

For me the save system is completely broken, first while running the pre-chapter-1 part it didn't save any time I pressed F5, no auto save even though I went pretty far before I died and had to reload, I ended up deleting some of the first save games I had and then it would work. 5 minutes ago I wanted to see what happened if I started to slaughter the guards in the first town you come to in chapter 1, ofc I saved and then I wanted to be sure it had saved properly this time so I loaded the save and It sended me almost back to the very beginning of the town (but it a quick save thou) even though I had pressed F5 at least a dozen times after coming to town.

I don't have steam cloud activated and it really take away the joy of the game when you have to play the same part over and over again because the game don't feel like saving when it's supposed to.

Anyone that can help?

Saves are also broken for me.

I have had several saving issues, but the latest one was the worst. I’m in the 2nd chapter on Iorveth path, and I had been playing for about an hour in chapter 2. I die in combat and want to reload to the most recently saved part, i had just quick saved 30 seconds before. When I loaded the latest save, I didn’t start 30 seconds back, but all the way back to where you escape the cursed battle and Philippa Eilhart, as an owl, is helping you, about an hour worth of playing. The really weird bit is, that the picture in the save file is actually from where I quick saved just before i died.

As you can see here in this screenshot, the small picture is what the save looks like and in the background you can see what actually got loaded:

Are you guys sure it's not Steam cloud? I just noticed on my game that, even with overall Steam cloud disabled, the game still had by default Steam cloud activated.

Steam cloud is off both in the game and on steam it has a little cloud with a line through, and syncing after game is shutdown

The same thing happened again. I played for about an hour, and after I died the game got loaded back to the same spot on the battlefield as yesterday... The first time the steam cloud was on, here the second it was off. When I look inside the saved game folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\48319365\20920\remote), I can see that the picture file (its called quicksave_640x360) is 10 minutes old (19-04-2012 08:28), but the save file itself is much older (18-04-2012 20:03)

The latest save in C:\Users\Mardal\Documents\Witcher 2\gamesaves appear to be the same as in the steam file.

I'm having the same problem. Steam cloud is off.
