Saving Triss Quest (Spoilers)

Hi everyone.
I have some troubles completing the Saving Triss quest, max difficulty. Let me explain.
I get into the Nilfgaardian camp, gut the soldiers and so on. I exit the pond arena and have the talk with the bad bald guy who tells me Triss has been hiding stuff to me and she confessed and while we talked his soldiers rallied and were ready to fight again.
Ok, I think, I can take them.

Then camera shifts in game mode and I get butchered by soldiers and the mage before I get to draw my sword.
I'm not complaining about combat too difficult, but I'm complaining about I am dead BEFORE initiating combat.
The dialogue ends, baldy gets away, Geralt draws the sword and while he does gets hit by 5 swords and a fireball, killing him before I can do anything.
Has anybody experienced the same problem and find a solution?
Does upgrading to Enhanced Edition fixes this bug (I think it must be called bug: they start with their weapon out and since the game automatically draws the sword I don't have the time to dodge or to cast a sign. Endgame)

That's an unfortunate design flaw. I recommend you to cast Quen before talking to him, and to begin running away the moment between the end of the conversation and the return to normal gameplay.

How is it a flaw that your character is outmanned against a platoon of Nilfgaard's finest, and that they got the drop on him while he was talking to their leader?

Anglachelh is right about getting out of their way, though. Especially, keep a soldier between you and that mage.

Because it can be frustrating if you are playing on Dark or Insane and you get hit for about 3/4 of your total HP before you can control Geralt.

I reverted to an earlier save and chose to help roche because of this part. Its auto kill without any input by the player which should be fixed. On lower difficulties you can survive the initial onslaught but on dark mode you just die before you have a chance to do anything.

I beat the fight in Dark Mode just fine...just cast Quen before talking to Renuald, you can also begin running before you regain control of Geralt (while the screen fades between the dialogue and the normal gameplay section). Anyways the only thing that can hit you is a bolt from the crossbow soldiers which doesn't do that much damage. If you want to post the save I can finish that fight.

You need to dodge. I was able to do it.

Because it's a damned game. I don't care how you want to justify it, giving the player no chance to gtfo of the way before losing half Geralt's health is a gameplay flaw.

If you have Quen up, and move out of the way as soon as you get control back, you really shouldn't be taking damage.

Move first, then worry about your sword. General rule in all fights where your opponent gets the drop on you.

This part is infuriating! Yes Quen and you can move around as you watch the Baldy go on the stares. If you start dodging to the back left you start the fight standing right next to the mage and the crossbowmen, nice way to take them out early.
