scars,wounds,tattoo's ect

i never played the pen and paper game, and don't know allot about lore, but could someone tell me how scars etcetera are handled?

personally would like to see some scars after a fight or if the implant guy was drunk as frak.
kinda like fable, if i remember correctly. (you got scars after losing a fight)
but it could be a minor issue because the medical technology is far superior to our own.

same goes for tattoo's are they common in the cyberpunk universe?
how are they used? pure decorative or are they used to identify that you belong to a certain corporation of faction?

if this is a stupid question than excuse my stupidity.
and my apologies for my crappy English.

Not a stupid question at all.

In the era of nanotechnology and accelerated-healing antibodies, scars are either voluntarily kept, deliberate, a sign of disease or some other unusual circumstance.

Tattoos are still common and now you may enjoy light tattoos and such technological frippery. They are used for gang affiliation, cultural markers and so on. No corporation I can think of uses tattoos liight or otherwise....but they do use markers and built-in ID.

Yeah, I would like seeing scars and wounds in the game. Really a realistic damage model would be awesome. As for tattoos, yes, they are in the Cyberpunk universe.

I can't be sure, but didn't Lazarus or someone like that use Barcode tattoos on all of their employees? Or maybe that was just something I did with my game...

As for scars... yes... they just add so much character.

I'd like to see a mechanic built-in, where specific gang or set tattoos help with some favorable random encounter rolls amongst 'gangers sporting the same ink, and the chance of a negative outcome roll for opposing gang factions.

This would be for visible ink, of course.

/edit

I'd be perfectly content if tattoos were purely aesthetic, though, with no bonuses or modifiers in-game.

A rainbow MADE of ponies, I'll have you know! Cyber-ponies, of course, 'wared for additional CP*

Did Lazarus have barcode tattoos or did they just implant into their employees? Once I would have known...

Scars are signs you screwed up. Impressive to wanna-bes and - ugh- tribals like Nomads, but other than that, they are magnets for cops and other problems, as well as an open challenge to Boosters and the like.

Of course, what -isn't- an open challenge to boosters. Sigh.

I hope we get that synth skin or whatever and we could upload our own texture on it. It could look like Octo Camo in MGS4.

Oh my god. Of -course- you do. Wait, there are seven nomad nations? Why did I not know this? And who took census anyway?

I've noticed that in the new Spiderman game, "Amazing Spiderman" or something, as you take damage, your suit gets torn up and you have to go home and repair it. This would be a cool function in this game. Imagine one of your implants gets damaged and you cant use it, at least not effectively, until you repair it.

That'd be hot...

Where can I read about them? And I hope I got Techno hair to go with my light tattoos!

Scars would kick ass.

What I would love would also be visible damage to clothing/gear.
"Edgerunner" fashion is supposed to be used, beat up, and look like it has a story. I'd like it that my sweet Gibson Battle gear trench-coat looks a bit haggard after a fight instead of always looking new.

They are introduced in the Cyberpunk 2020 sourcebook Neo Tribes

And I expand on them in my own online sourcebooks

I thought it looked good in spec ops the line how walker looked more beaten up, scarred, wounded, had torn clothes as the game progressed and his madness got worse. Maybe not entirely suitable but after a fire fight might be cool to have to buy or repair clothes and armour

As far as "wear and tear" on clothing / your character:

I think it'd be a nice addition, but it certainly wouldn't be a deal-breaker for me. If it's purely cosmetic, and doesn't affect stats any, if it would significantly impact the production schedule / budget, I'd rather they leave it out.

However, if it wouldn't significantly impact the schedule / budget, and / or they've already allocated resources for it, then I'm on board! =)
