Scrapping components info

I remember that you could see somewhere or somehow in inventory what components scrapping an item would give you, but I can't find that info now, or maybe I forgot how to bring up that info.
I want to compare components obtained to selling price. When the game came out it used to be better to scrap, but now my impression is that you are better off selling almost everything and buying the components at a vendor.

In the "Bag" tab, where you over an item, the components at the left are high lighted in green with components obtained if you dismantle it (like +1, +2 or +6)
It don't work with items who you can't dismantle, like quest item, equipped items or foods/drinks.
