Series X Pixelated Visual Artifacting FSR 2.1 | DRS

+
I've had to shelve the game for now as I am completely unable to play it like this. Very disappointed that this isn't more widely reported as its obvious and intrusive from a visual perspective and will absolutely be something that at least all players on console will be experiencing.

Concerned that the new Witcher patch will also present the same issue as that is also using FSR on console.

Been having this problem ever since patch 1.61, every time i turn around the world is flickering and im seeing white lines around every building, street, ad, sign, car possible for a brief second and then its back to normal. The image does look better and sharper all around since the patch but with the flickering at every turn its hard to enjoy. Hopefully they have a fix, i cant play it in its current state.

Can you please upload a video or at least a few pictures of what's happening? (For something like this, you could turn off the lights and just film a 15-30 second clip of the screen on your phone. That would be enough, as long as the screen is clear.)

Hi @SigilFey , I made a thread about the issue a while back, please find the link below. It also has some video footage but I can do a longer run capturing the issue multiple times if you would like me to?

(Sorry -- I didn't realize this was the second page. Moving too quickly.)

Yeah -- if you're still seeing that, go ahead and report it again to CDPR Support. Can't do much about it ourselves, likely, as consoles don't off the the configuration options needed. To me, the top video looks like the game just can't render the point-light shadows quickly enough to look right, and in the second one, it looks sort of like the depth of field is being rendered incorrectly / inaccurately.

But this is very much a dev-level issue:

Post moved to Xbox Technical.

Xbox Series S user here. I have exactly the same problem. My eyes began to hurt, although this had not happened before. Constant flashing screen. There were strong noises and reflections. The image looks terrible. 60fps mode is unplayable.

Your video perfectly shows the issue. Please report a bug using this link below if not already done so. I think you can upload the video as well.

I want to report a visual issue — Cyberpunk 2077 | Technical Support — CD PROJEKT RED

Everyone send in a ticket if you're seeing it. The more people that report on an issue, the more attention it will garner on support's end. (Don't spam them, though. One each. Normally takes a couple days to a week to receive a response.)

I can't play anymore with this issue and seeing their hasn't been a patch or any updates since November I'm not holding my breath that this is going to be fixed anytime soon im going to delete the game.

After a couple of months they contacted me and say that they are looking into it. But it seems to me, that there will be no small fix. Instead they will probably add this to the upcoming patch 1.7.

No sadly not :(

After I saw the patch notes yesterday I really did hope that they had managed to fix it. I can see that they fixed a similar issue on the PC side that relates to a very similar issue if not the exact same issue when objects start flashing with DLSS enabled. Obviously consoles don't use DLSS but I think someone posted on a reddit post I made saying that PC had a similar issue when DLSS was in use. It definitely relates to the FSR 2.1 implementation and for some reason only affects the Xbox version. I have tested it on PS5 and it does not have this issue at all.

I am fortunate enough to have a fairly decent Internet connection and can play on the Geforce Now 4080 tier, but it absolutely sucks if your only option is Xbox as I would say the experience is unplayable at the moment if you in any way care about consistent visuals.

I honestly cannot believe that this issue is still present with ‘patch’ 1.63 on Xbox Series X. It’s very immersion-breaking and ruining the experience. On top of this we have a new bug where V’s body in photo mode turns black when they’re wearing anything that shows some skin. The game hasn’t felt good to me since 1.60.

I have the same problem from months :( I really REALLY hope that with patch 2.0 this problem will be over, but at this time I'm really afraid I will not have 100% satisfaction playing Phantom Liberty .... why only on xbox this problem, I mean....It's bad...

Here after Patch 1.6.3, sadly nothing is fixed on Xbox Series X. Every other turn I make with my camera my screen is flickering and sometimes even flickers (blinks) black for a split millisecond and then back to normal. Xbox has marketing rights and it's the least optimized system to date, sad actually. Unfortunately, I don't think CDPR will fix it (I don't believe they know how). If you've seen the Phantom Liberty gameplay trailer while it was running on Xbox at the showcase you can see the flickering all over the demo. From the moment it started! They will be releasing a DLC 1 year after the last major update that introduced these issues and still have no fix. Showing a games new DLC off like that and to actually be proud of the showing is mind blowing. Between that and the framerate dips i recommend anybody on the new gen Xbox to wait to buy Phantom Liberty to see if these problems can be resolved. I myself will be waiting until patch 1.7 to jump back in to see if its fixed or if I will be disappointed for the 1209786th time. With a track record like theirs... who knows, I might be disappointed.

I think the issue that is causing this to happen is the FSR 2 Implementation not working well with the DRS because it's way more noticeable in the performance mode then the resolution mode because the performance mode has a more aggressive DRS it fluctuates way more. so the FSR is working hard to reconstruct to the native resolution that CDPR set for the Series X/S. with the DRS changing so often to keep a good performance the FSR can't keep up. but that's just me guessing I'm not a dev.

Hmm so its upscale on upscale? Yea no wonder theres issues with it -.- Base resolution makes a big diffrence too how good it looks. The scales seems too be similar too DLSS for FSR, DRS might be causing exactly what you say. Upscale a upscaled picture should produce some unwanted effects and odd flashing.

Has anyone that may have filed a bug for this issue actually had any response from the Dev team? I did get one initially but was a long time ago and have no idea if they are still looking into it.

Be sure that you check your Spam folder. Sometimes, the responses will be auto-filtered by certain email settings. If you don't receive a confirmation of your ticket, you can feel free to send another after a week or so. You should receive confirmation that it has been received, and the team usually responds within 3-5 days.
