There is no "multiplayer mode".

CDPR has already stated that multiplayer will be a standalone game. So you won't be playing it in "this" Night City.

I read standalone production. Which doesn't necessarily mean you won't need this game to play it. But anyway, I think you get my point.

Honestly the only part we are missing is the prologue and some glue-ing around those fixers side jobs and gigs to build better the narrative that he is the rising star in Night City. Now remove the time ticking bomb in his head and this would also make more sense.
