Serious foliage pop in after EE

What on earth has happened to the engine in my game? Look at the video below to see the serious problems of pop in. This is happening on a NEW save and my pc can handle the game with no problem at maxed out settings.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=60OgtxAzYAM&feature=player_embedded

I have done every tinkering available and has also raised the topic in the technical forum (http://en.thewitcher.com/forum/index.php?/topic/29128-foliage-pop-in/), but there is no response from CD. This doesn't affect only myself.

I don't know what's going on but I can't continue my game like this. In the topic in the technical forum there's all the info for my PC as well.

Sorry for bringing this in the general discussions but there's no official reply for days now in the tech forum. I can't remember such horrible pop in in my first playthrough.

For me, it looks more like a drastic change in shadow / lighting quality.

The usual responders here are players like yourself, who volunteer their time out of good will and love for the game. Developers do not make a practice of reading the forums or of making response to problems reported there, nor should you expect the developers of any company to do so. Well-run companies have official channels for accepting and triaging complaints, and for making responsible and coordinated responses to them.

That said, yes, there is a worse problem with pop-in. This game has always had pop-in problems. But they were previously mild on high-performance GPUs and worse on slower configurations. Now I have heavy pop-in problems like those you see, but only on my high-performance setup. My low-end setup performs noticeably better. They have done something very different in their engine, and it can be seen in this and the problems with DOF noted elsewhere.

It looks pretty much the same for me. I've suffered from this since last year, however, and I've made videos trying to showcase it. As you can see, my videos are also of Act 2 and the Kaedweni side of the story; it seems to be particularly obvious in that area, for some reason. Link 1 Link 2

I still don't know what might be causing this, and we have yet to receive any sort of conclusive response from CDPR. All I have is a correspondence with tech support where they admit it's not supposed to be that way, but that's it.

You just got to except that this is the engine and what it does and I don't see them fixing it. Maybe some CPU optimisations will help like what was done with Gothic 4, since it was only using two cores by default.

No, it's not. Id you look at the end of the video you will actually see the foliage appear and disappear in front me. It also happens when you turn the camera sometimes. This is completely unnaceptable and a disgrace. And of course I demand a proper official answer or solution. This is not some simple pop in problem, the engine is clearly broken and can not be fixed with any kind of twinking in the ini files, hence the need for official support.

But do you have such foliage pop in a new save with the EE? It literally disappears and appears while I run, not far away like it's some kind of LOD issue.

I didn't remember such problems in my first playthrough. It's completely unnaceptable. Is it actually supposed to be like this?!

In your second video I see pop in but the foliage doesn't disappear and appear like mine. It seems to suffer from the classic low/high quality texturing as you go by (and the classic distant pop up) but the foliage is there. In my video it actually appears and disappears as I go by...

I've not got to that part yet, I'm in Flotsam and all seems normal performance wise.

Flotsam was a dream for me, too. The only problem was some occasional pop in of branches and some details on the trunks. This is happaning on the foliage of act ii, no matter what path you choose to take.

I have raised the issue in the tech forum (and even offered some possible causes) but I've had no answer.

For me it looks like the draw distance for the higher res things are screwed for some reason. Also there do seem to be some light / shadow problem. You can see (atleast i think so but the video quality is so bad =/) that there is grass there and when you get closer it "change" texture.

And in tech forum it should stay.

Sorry for your problems, EE messed up my game, too. I hope devs see this and look into it. However, I doubt you will get an official answer soon and it's not something users can fix. Have you tried e-mailing them, linking to your video and computer configuration? You can do so here --> http://en.thewitcher.com/support/ Just scroll allllllll the way down, click on the "contact us" button and fill in the form.

Close popup and close LOD switching has always been a problem in the Witcher 2, but nowhere near as bad as the grass in that video. Crossplatform engines seems to have this issue a lot.

I'm sorry for the bad quality video but I though it showed the problem I'm having, since it's the only one I'm having.

Act 1, for example, Flotsam and the surrounding areas were smooth as butter maxed out. My only complain is the foliage complaint. It has really broken up the engine and there are other people who have the same problem. Can you confirm that you don't have the same problem?

How is it possible that there isn't an official - or at least semi official- support about such a serious issue? This has nothing to do with my hardware since until now it run the game without such obvious problems.

At least some suggestions would be a step in the right direction since I have run out of ideas. Is this supposed to be normal? What do other people do that have the same problem?

You can see this in the Prologue with the grass just outside the tent, as well with the ivy on the central pillar in the temple.

You mean in your game? Because in mine I didn't have any problem until I reached act ii. I had to download one part of the EE a second time since it was corrupted. Now I'm doing a clean install of the W2 with no patches. I'll go straight to the EE for a completely clean install and report back.
