Serious Lag, no matter what??

Will this game run on an HP G71? Or did I waste my money? Seriously!? every other game I play works fine, WoW, GW, D&D, Aika...even my Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim runs fab-u-lous!! What the "H" is going on? No offense but let's face it, Skyrim is pretty bad azz comparatively .... so should this game come with a disclosure of being soley a Nvidia hype?? What's going on?? Any suggestions? Or did I just buy an incompatible piece o' you know what? Like I said, any other game works great, with exception of this ONE....any help would be appreciated...

HP G71's don't have the graphics power for this game. Don't pretend it's anything to do with nVidia, either, because it isn't. The stock GPU on that bargain laptop is an Intel X4500, which does not even remotely resemble a high-performance GPU.

There is no other game on the market (well, maybe Metro 2033) that drives the GPU as hard as this one. Not even Skyrim comes close. No Intel GPU performs well with it, and pretty much only the HD 3000 (on upperclass Sandy Bridge CPUs) performs at all.

Ahhh so in other words, I wasted time and money, on some crap that's only compatible with a certain "kind" (ahem...nvidia)of video card. Sorry dude Skyrim and bethesda beats this games azz then. Even though it says Win 7 in far bigger letters on the back ... heh heh , I'm not pretending it has anything to do with promoting nvidia, i'm outright saying it. Wow, so pissed I wasted my time and money. No wonder you hardly hear Atari anymore... that should have been the first red flag. Wonder how many other people gave these guys a free paycheck for nothing... Class Action anyone???

Sorry but to say oh, well you have are far inferior blah blah blah...bargain ...blah blah blah ....buy this, it's superior, and guess what, I know it was in the fine print, buuuuut buying "this' is the only way to play the game... IS a sales tactic.

If you want advice on this forum, you should be prepared to dialog with the people who provide you good advice. Nobody will help you until you do. In the meantime, you can redirect that nVidia rant to /dev/null, because everybody who actually knows anything about this game knows that it is false.

Since nobody ever told you this game was compatible with your computer, and you certainly did not take the system requirements seriously yourself, you can put that class action threat in the bit bucket too.

and a shady one at that! So gonna give awful reviews anywhere and everywhere I can about this game. It just simply blows. Why? Because you can't play it. Period. Unless you buy more useless crap.

All software is published with system requirements. If you ignore those system requirements and buy the software anyway, you have no recourse, and you have no claim that the game is in any way defective. If you were to post degrading "reviews", that would be defamation. I am sure you do not want to be known for defaming a company that did not harm you in any way.

...And that's why it comes with a 10% off coupon for the nvidia 550 & 560 Ti ?? Because it has nothing to do with marketing...mmmkay.

Sweetheart ...I'm a third year Law Student ... like I said ... Class action anyone? The "coupon" makes for a very compelling argument...might wanna think about removing those for the future. Futhermore, do the words "misleading" and "consumer protection rights" tinkle any bells...I can definitely find a cause of action, it's kinda what I do. I may make this a project and try to see EXACTLY how many consumers were misled...

We live in a litigious society, where a person can sue over hot coffee, knowingly and willingly buying it because they know it's hot coffee...think about it.

Here`s something to think about . You wanted help and received it but instead of accepting what help was given you start flaming somebody that offers their assistance . That kind of verbal abuse is not welcome in the forum . The system specs were clearly printed on the box that you bought . If you were not sure that you could run it then you should have checked first .

Gods... Trolling and flaming and constantly double- or triple-posting; you are seriously annoying.

Your GPU does not meet the system requirements, and you are not at all required to buy an Nvidia GPU for this game, you can do just as well with an ATI card. Nvidia has sponsored the game, that's why they are featured more prominently in marketing, but there's no viable evidence anywhere saying that you must own one of their cards in order to play the game to its fullest.

What Tommy said. Very rude behaviour on your part towards someone who only wants to help you.

You seem to lack some basic knowledge of computer hardware and threaten to sue a company that in no way misled you - or did they say that The Witcher 2 would run on hardware that is way below the minimal system requirements? While the optimal requirement is a state of the art gaming machine, which yours is not. If you wasted your money, it's because of your own ignorance. But you're right about one thing: The Witcher 2 blows... your mind, if you are able to play it. And btw. Skyrim runs on the slightly modified, very old Gamebryo engine, while the spanking new RED engine was created for TW2. Game requirements change fast, if you want to enjoy a graphically unequalled game like TW2.

Oh, and please edit your postings for afterthoughts, instead of spammingly answering yourself.

I can run Skyrim at 1680x1050 and get only minor lag, the game is still very playable.

For arena mode in TW2, I have to drop that first number to lower than 1050 - that's the difference between the two games. TW2 is a hog of a game to run and that's the hard fact.

@Tommy...No I came on here, because the launcher suggests you register your game, upon clicking "Register..." this is where it brought me.
Futhermore, the "help" that I recieved only confirmed that this game is purposefully targeted at the average consumer, in order to prompt aforementioned consumer to BUY more expensive products in order to enjoy the benefits of the purchase, that quote "will not work with, " (how was it basically put?) The average consumers "bargain" gear. Bargian gear, may I remind you, that works with ANY other game, except the one that requires additional purchases not stated clearly, and MORE than just Win 7, as the average PC gaming consumer understands. Yet does not clearly state so on the packaging in language that the average consumer can immediately and without question understand. Like I stated before, I am a Law student, not a computer wiz. I am the average gamer, if a game claims to be compatible with a certain OS, THAT is what the consumer expects. In the legal world it's called "baiting the consumer". This game clearly and without question "baits" the buyer into buying one item, that requires one or more periferal purchases in order to use, yet does not clearly state that fact to the consumer. Consumer baiting is covered under State/Federal Statutes, Primary Law. You can also research some Secondary Law, in the ALR (American Law Reports) for an explanation of the primary held opinion of liable on consumer baiting. In layman's terms it a very illegal practice to market a product that requires further purchase's to use the the primary product. Unless clearly and without question stated so before the purchase has been made. A.K.A. Baiting...now all I need to find out is who do I direct my inquiry for a full refund to, or whom shall we direct the law suit to?
Also, before anyone feels the need to take a shot at the average gamer, remember, the packaging does NOT state the level of computer or gaming knowledge required to use this product.

Let me just ask. How low do you have the settings?

Wow, I just read your whole post. That is the biggest load of bullshit I've read in a long time. Tommy lock this thread and let Mr. lawyer carry on with his lawsuit.

You are completely unbelievable. I don't think I have ever encountered anyone so blatantly ignorant as you, who so stubbornly gnashes on and on about various legislature and judicial terms, in a laughable attempt to convince others to side with you in such a matter. The mere fact that you seem to think that you have a case, here, as you were under the impression that as long as the game box carries "compatible with Windows 7" on it, your computer - no matter its other system specs - should be able to run it flawlessly. This is not a fault with The Witcher 2 and CD Projekt, as this is how it has worked with PC games since... well, forever. If you are truly serious about what you are saying, this is not a case of CD Projekt and The Witcher 2 being at fault, but any PC game publisher in the business; as with your mad reasoning, I should be able to play any game on my PC, as long as I somehow managed to install the Windows 7 operating system on it, even if the machine is running on hardware that is more than 10 years old and has an integrated GPU chip or something equally weak. Honestly... you cannot be this ignorant. No-one can be this ignorant. The only logical answer is that you are a smelly troll, in which case, points for effort, I suppose. Sigh.

On the lowest possible settings as all the google searches and the youtube videos have suggested, with everything disabled that has been suggested, everything except actual gameplay works. For example, in the tutorial when you have to open inventory, that works fine, no lag on the mouse. But trying to walk forward, jerk, jerk, jerk, jump backwards, jerk, jerk...
