Here's a question. Why is interactive sex a bad thing? Keep in mind I'm not saying that it is what I want... nor am i saying I don't want it. I just want to know why most of you seem adverse to it? This may be obvious to you but indulge me regardless.

If we can agree that sex is really just a physical act and has no actual meaning beyond the meaning you give it, what makes making it interactive so blasphemous?

In other words, if you read the books, we get a good description of both how Geralt dismembers foes with his sword and also a good description of how he ploughs dem ladies (I'm specifically thinking of that scene in The Last Wish with Yen). In the game, we have complete control over Geralt's combat, and get to hack limbs off enemies. Everyone seems ok with that. Yet making interactive sex scenes (and even just sex scenes in general) and people lose their shit.

In normal circumstances, this makes no sense to me.

In circumstance concerning the Witcher world, this makes even less sense to me.

Maturity vs Immaturity doesn't even have anything to do with it (coming from someone who is undoubtedly immature as fuck - and proud of it, I might add)

Actually, the novels don't have any pornographic, "everything-on-paper" type of sex description. Usually it is very subtle, or very erotic for a better word, therefore the scenes are quite engaging and immersive, they manage to portray the sexual experience well.

Now show me at least one good movie which combines good immersive story and open hard-core sex scenes? Okay, Lars von Trier's new film Nymphomaniac will be something like that, but I am quite sure it'll fail, as it has been tried before. Visualization, for theoretical reasons I don't have the time to delve into, has trouble "showing" passionate open sexuality, the motifs have either to be light or over-the-top and passionless, mechanic and quite embarrassing for the viewer, whose purpose is not that of masturbation. Don't even get me started about the concept of "Interaction" and its problems. I'll just say that interactive sex would be a major atmosphere and "immersion" breaker for sure.

For this same reason the silly card game worked a lot better than the open sex scenes of The Witcher 2, in my humble opinion. Some of them were painful to witness, they were trying hard to "get there", but just couldn't.

While the sex is not important, I would not like to ignore it. I think the sex scenes do complete the game.

Whether it is a "bad thing" or not, the only thing I'd say, putting a QTE'd sex scene in TW3 would be like splicing a Jackass scene into Saving Private Ryan.

interactive sex is silly, i agree, but is there a way to bring depth and interaction to a relationship culminating in sexual encounter? i think the red engine will be perfect demonstrator of this possibility.

see, what happens is, after the initial stages of witcher 3 mania ends, and te devs release more detailed and specific videos detailing game mechanics, it may be possible that they will include a sex and relationships video showing how their branching storyline system can apply to relationships.

so for example, the dialog options you choose in relation to a potential partner will change their perception of your sexual prowess, measurement, etc, and you will affect geralt in how he perceives the potential partner, as either desirable, easy, irritating, etc. all will be indicated through dialog of course, or expressions, body language, etc.

now, there will be a few "sex states" for the relationships, so that when you do engage in it, the cutscene will show exactly how your choices have influenced geralt's actions. this can be done any number of ways, animations, cinematography, dialog, sound effects, etc. maybe the partner ended up annoying geralt, so now the cutscene begins with geralt play-raping her. or if you came upon an aggressive partner and did not impress her enough, the cutscene could simply show geralt curled up in the corner and the aggressive partner walking out of the bedroom with a glistening thread spool.

if your dialog choices reflected a timid approach, the sex scene may be subdued and the body parts will be covered by blankets. and if your dialog choices reflected an aggresive approach, there may be penetration.

I don't mind the sex scenes I like that there short but I wouldn't care if they took them out or made less of them. I don't get why people get uppity about it?

I had already stated what would happen if any further off-topic posts appeared . So without any further adieu .
