Showing nudity is different than showing pornography. Will there be nudity? Almost certainly yes. Will there be sex? Almost certainly yes. Will you be able to see everything during romance scenes? No.

As said by xer21, an AO rating is not going to happen. It would mean the game cannot release on consoles, and the PC version would not be carried by most retailers in the United States, Australia, most Asian markets, and etc. Including XXX porn would likely cut sales in more than half. You can harp all you want on why the system is more upset by sexuality than violence (a valid point), but I sincerely doubt CDPR is willing to lose hundreds of millions of dollars in sales to make a point about sex censorship when they can tell a story just as well (and IMO better) by showing short TPP romance scenes just like TW3.

You make some great points here Rawls unfortunately i don`t think many will take in your message , I would be happy with what CDPR showed us in TW3 . With the right angles the characters could be totally nude without us seeing XXX stuff. Cutting out the stupid ugly undies from the Geralt shoot from above . Mind you no one rocks granny undies like the G man

This games pre-orders are already higher than Witcher 3, so they are on track to sell well with this. Its quite nice actually, debuts doesnt sell much usually.

My comment was mostly realted to retailers actually carrying the game. if the game was rated AO a LOT of preorders would be moot.

I hope they just stick to their vision and don't give in to fake outrage

Im really wondering why everyone is so worried about this. what precedent with CDPR do we really have? the best i can think of is them ditching the admittedly weird sex cards from TW1.

All of the games you mentioned are on the index in Germany and even with today's visual possibilities MK 11 would not have come on the market in Germany at that time.

ok no offense, but Germany's rating system is not at all the standard. sucks for you, but CDPR isnt going to tailor the game to appease the german market, when the vast majority of the console market is in the US and most of the PC market isnt in germany. the standard is and always was going to be measured off of the ESRB and PEGI ratings, because those are the ones that actually matter money wise.

in the US, no, MK11 would have had no problem in 2000. in germany? well, that sucks, but you're not the market they're goign to model the game off of. that's just life. if anything, things will get separately toned down for each market....but that's not CDPR's fualt, blame your government. at that point it comes down to "sell the game slightly toned down" or "not sell it at all". CDPR isnt going to change German law.

I am an adult, I do not want my game censored because some tweens might play the game.

i mean, thats not why they arent going to cgi porno scenes for the game. it has absolutely nothing to do with the audience.

for a bunch of adults, everyone is strangely entitled to things they want and seem to have no regard for any facet of the business that isnt 100% their desires.

I don't care if they have the game censored by default as long as there's a option to turn censorship off.

choosing not to make a porn scene isnt the same as censorship.

Please stay true to the source material, no shenanigans and telling us it isn't important please.

i see no porn in my Cyberpunk 2020 books.

gee, i wonder where in the source material they go through great lengths to describe sex in explicit detail.

I was actually thinking about this topic the other day and with the capability of being able to have male bits on a female PC and vice versa (likely some NPCs with have this too) unless they put in a specific system to figure out who has what and where chances are all the sex scenes will be fade to Black screens.

But if not I'd love to see how they pull it off lol

Greetings from Germany here and I fully agree with your comment. Our rating system is surely not a world wide standard.

However, I like to point out, that our rating system has changed a fair bit. I see many games here, that would never have been made it to the shelves before 2000, at least not heavily censored. I remember the old Resident Evil games, which either were not sold here at all, or had been censored in a sense of making the blood green, or having killed zombies blink and disappear, instead of remaining as dead corpses.
Heck, in Half Life 1, they not only removed blood and dismemberment, they even replaced all military enemies with straight up robots... not very immersive.

Now we can enjoy games like Resident Evil 2 Remake without censorship, not to mention an abundance of other games that would have been prohibited or heavily censored before 2000. Many old games have become "post hoc" available here due to changes to our rating system.

In some sense, it is even somewhat the other way around in Germany in regards of depictions of violence and sex. In the U.S. violence in games is common place, but sex seems to be a big taboo.
In Germany the law is much more open towards sex, sure, not full porn, but nudity and/or sex scenes like in Witcher 3 barely raise an eyebrow here. Our big taboo is violence, and there are still games that get put on the German Index, like Dying Light as example, where in one mission zombie children appeared. Something like this is still (and justified in my opinion) a big NO-NO.

But aside from that, we really can't complain about censorship. Apologies for my rambling, but I wanted to get that out.

You are a regular comedian aren't you?

I just said no censorship..... I never mentioned "porn" in fact I am pretty sure I never even posted in this "sex" thread but in another ( it was about nudity not sex scenes) which was then shoved in here. My post was commenting about nudity not porn scenes which was what the thread was about that I actually posted in.

You can take your feet out of your mouth now.

Thanks!

I think everyone who voted for "Full XXX P0RN, censor nothing" were just being jokers. No one's really wanting/expecting porn. I'm more interested in romance and if they affect gameplay in some way. Someone said V doesn't have companions at all? I thought V could at least have one companion at any time.

Just skim through the early pages of this thread and ask yourself if those people were really joking around.

This poll doesnt mean for entire game. Just like my suggested Porn Shop, so what if theres Porn Shop in massive Night City.

CDPR have said that there will be companions sometimes when it makes sence . So some missions V will be on HIs / Her own . Other than Jackie and T Bug they have been quite on companions but i am sure there will be others , I mean we saw both of them get killed LOL.

Never say never I guess we'll have to see what NC offers lol. I hope there are fun side quests with companions and stuff. Like when Geralt got drunk and dressed in women's clothing

Of course there will be others! I wonder how many companions are in the game. I wish a dev would comment on this lol. Ugh... Jackie didn't really die tho

I think the Geralt drunk in Yens clothes was the funniest bits of TW3 and i hope we get something like that in CP2077 .

I also wonder if Jackie only dies if you stuff up that mission or is it a scripted death ?

And exactly this is the problem, the evaluation of the games by the ESRB/PEGI/USK and Co, I think the evaluation of some contents is no longer up-to-date.
Seriously, who of the target group would feel disturbed if you could see everything?
yes yes I know the rules... if you always just follow the rules nothing ever changes.

The problem with the ESRB/PEGI/USK and Co is, that they are usually not official Federal Departments.

The USK as example is not even remotely a German Federal Department, which means the USK not only kinda chooses themselves by what criteria the games get rated, they are also prone to bribes by shady AAA companies (surely not CDPR/GOG. Love you guys...). That is a problem because a game, that should get a 18+ rating might get a 16+ rating so that some shady company can increase the amount of buyers, meaning more profit.

So, a 16+ target group could be disturbed by 18+ content. And that is the real problem.

We adults actually couldn't care less if the USK rates a game 18+ or below, adults will still be able to buy the games. That is why I don't understand, how adult people have such a big problem with the USK rating system...
