I do know ram speed plays a difference on how fast assets get called on. I do know I lost 30 FPS pre patch with 3600 CL18 ram both 2x16 and 3x16. Knowing intel 12th gen likes and is made for faster ram, reading some benchmarks seeing large increases with faster speed and lower CL gave my cpu a huge boost that really should be on way faster DDR5. Also my 3DMark Time Spy Results it was a difference of a 1k increase on my CPU score upgrading ram to 4000mhz CL16 on top of my 30 FPS increase in CP 2077 pre the 1.5 patch. Whats even funnier is my low even with one of my OSD's up counting frames I never see the 60's FPS range. So think something must be up with the bench, even the bench's counter didn't see the 60's there too. I do know if your IMC on your cpu can handle it and the board and its bios you can run faster than what you're running but you have to be really picky on your ram chips can only go for the premium stuff.

TY on the rig comment, was a long year to get it to where I wanted it, part of it was 280 days to Step-Up my 3070 Ultra to a 3080 FTW3 Ultra the card I really wanted.

Cant wait for Directstorage and RTXio i think they were calling it... Load textures into gpu memory directly would be awsome.

Hi Guys,

I have a question. I'm currently running an 2021 ASUS TUF laptop with an i5 11400 processor, GTX3060-6GB graphics, 8GB DDR memory unit connected via HDMI to a 144Hz Lenovo 27 in screen and seem not to get the right FPS versus the benchmarks of similar configurations on youtube.

Test results:
@ Medium-High Settings, Ray Tracing ON (RT shadows off), with DLSS "Balanced", 1080p, No G-Sync - 34 fps
@ Ultra-High Settings, Ray Tracing (RT shadows off), with DLSS "Balanced", 1080p, No G-Sync - 24 fps
@ Medium-High Settings, Ray Tracing OFF with DLSS "Balanced", 1080p, No G-Sync - 49 fps
@ Ultra-High Settings, Ray Tracing ON (RT shadows off), with DLSS "Balanced", 1080p, No-Gsync - 21 fps
@ Ultra-High Settings, Ray Tracing OFF with DLSS "Balanced", 1080p, No-Gsync - 36 fps

Aren't these underperforming?

Fine. First off, this is my hardware:
PC, Win 10 Pro 64 bit; M12E, i9-10900K, Asus 3090 Gaming Strix OC, G.Skill 32 GB RAM 3733 MHz CL14

My settings are no spoiler: all maxed out. In my tests, I only varied resolution and no/DLSS. Let's hop into it.
All in all Quality DLSS gives significant uplift.

I could probably squeeze a bit more if I was to tweak the GPU OC.

I just tried to tune things up a bit, also updated the numbers in how CPU/GPU are set up. Not much of a difference. It is what it is, right?
And none to shabby for the 10th gen Intel and a 3090. The game is GPU-bottlenecked anyway.

When using the same in-game settings, I'm getting approximately 3 FPS less.

Setting HDD to Off made a HUGE difference in performance for me and that's the most notable conclusion I can draw. I can actually have Ray Tracing now, though I did cut back DLSS to Performance. I'm playing on a mid grade laptop with a mobile RTX 2060 so I'm not getting the high framerate numbers that you all are getting, but they seem to be high enough to the point where I'm happy with it.

Benchmarks. I did a few with various sound settings out of curiosity and one wirh a machine reboot.

My monitor doesn't truly support HDR, so I'm just using 10 bpc instead. But I can confirm that restoring settings can work wonders. I've recently restored the 3D Settings section for Cyberpunk in the driver, and it resulted in a buff of approx 2-4 FPS at 4K ; DLSS_Quality. I think it's because I had Trilinear optimization disabled, previously. Other settings like forcing AF 16x don't seem to affect performance in such a way.

Resetting sounds like a good idea; at least I already have my current settings in those images. nVidia's GeForce Experience app always shows that the game is not optimized so perhaps I'll let it do that and then tweak a little from there.

So i noticed today after updating my Motherboard bios (have a asus rog crosshair 7 x470) that the former issue with huge dropped fps in start of bench mark is gone. went from 29 minimum too 49 minimum. Seems there was something with the former bios or something that made that issue worse?

I don't know, it's still pretty random on my end.
My MIN FPS range is 25-49 FPS. Usually it's between 40 and 45 FPS, but sometimes it drops to the thirties or even lower.

After having spent a lot of time benchmarking, I came to the following results and conclusion:

A few things that did seem to help increasing MIN FPS:
  • Closing background tasks and applications.
  • Capping the frame rate (via in-game video settings) anywhere between 47 FPS and my monitors refresh rate (160Hz) might help with the consistency of MIN FPS, although I'm not sure if this is actually the case.
  • Optimizing BIOS settings:
    • using XMP profile1 (DDR4 3600, FCLK 1800)
    • CPU settings:
      • SMT_OFF ; PBO_enabled
      • 5950x undervolted, using Curve Optimizer:
        Negative 12 on all cores, except the first core on CCD 0 is set to negative 13,
        Socket Power: EDC_195, TDC_195, PPT_367
A few things that did not help increasing MIN FPS:
  • Parking one core on each CPU-die in order to emulate a 5900x.
  • Enabling SMT
  • Setting CPU priority for Cyberpunk2077.exe to High in Taskmaster.
  • Updating from the second-latest BIOS version to the latest version.
  • Disabling Resizable-Bar / Smart Access Memory.
Résumé
The benchmark could need a Hotfix. The results seem to be very inconsistent. There's also a bug where presets won't get applied:

Hehe i have a 3900x and i have the same problems. Read somewhere that AMD has some delay issues with bios due too safeboot and that it will get or just was patched in the bios update i mentioned... That could possibly explain the low min fps due too getting a short delay and dropping fps drasticly in the start?

Maybe... On my end the BIOS update didn't help. I'm trying some Windows updates now. If that didn't help, the next step I'm going to try is flashing the BIOS and/or rolling back to the previous version.

It is shame that my M12E and i9-10900K got fried, that babe was capable of all-core 5.2 GHz run, with CPU cache at 4.7 GHz.

With Z690 and i7-12700K the results are marginally lower or about the same.

Settings: Maxed out graphics.

1080p, no DLSS: 65.48 fps (ranging 50.87 - 86.87) -- this used to be 66.21 fps (31.39 - 136.29)
1080p, Quality DLSS: 101.80 fps (ranging 79.17 - 130.73) -- this used to be 100.48 fps (29.35 - 146.6)
4k, Quality DLSS: 39.03 fps (30.32 - 53.03) -- this used to be 39.12 fps (29.28 - 60.43)
4k, Auto DLSS: 56.83 fps (45.47 - 73.69)5
4k, no DLSS: 20.65 fps (14.64 - 29.07) -- this used to be 20.69 fps (13.29 - 30.94)

So, overall, the platform upgrade brings more consistency to the gaming experience. But, in turn, ever so slightly lower performance. I bet it would have been a different story with i9-12900KS. These results are with the budget-friendly sweetspot of the 12-th gen vs. 10-th gen leading CPU, which I lost. The rest of my rig remained the same:

Ah yes, I forgot, with the Z690, I was finally able to set my RAM at 4000 MHz CL15. The 10-th gen was ever stuck at 3733 MHz CL14 due to instability at any higher RAM frequency.

I got an FSR 2.0 mod installed that's why DLSS isn't greyed out, the mod replaces DLSS with FSR 2.0, it works but it has graphical issues like ghosting and such. Last image is with FSR 2.0 mod.

I could probably increase the graphics more, in fact I used to play it on ultra, but the frames dipped to often below 60, i could also use a different FSR setting.
