Slightly photoshoped.

Edit: never notice before how much compression messes with a picture.

Nope! Don't know anything about photography. I don't think the skills transfer at all though. I'd probably be a terrible photographer.

Here's probably he remainder of my shots worth posting so far (though there are better ones earlier in the thread):

What are you settings/tweaks for these shots?! :)

@Jim2poin0
Photography is 20% equipment, 20% luck and 20% skill! the rest is Composition and being in the right place at the right time! anyone telling you otherwise is a "photographer" (who generally think what they do is a mystical skill that somehow elevates them beyond mankind in general and requires considerable financial reward) or so far up their own arse i doubt they can see daylight!

your screenshots show you have the talent and the skill to "see" what makes a good composition...that means it will roll into photography, painting, drawing etc all you need is the time to practice with the equipment!
all youre doing in game is moving the camera around to take a photo of your chosen subject! its no different to having the camera in your hand!

What are you settings/tweaks for these shots?! :)
Ultra + Hairworks + INI tweaks + ReShade + Downsampling from high resolutions...

jim2point0, how many FPS do you get with those settings ?

During gameplay, I play at 4K and get 45 FPS (I limit FPS to 45 since I can't maintain 60). Though as I read through the compendium of tweaks thread, I realize that my settings aren't exactly optimized properly. The biggest hit though is foliage distance scale. But most of my screenshots don't really showcase the INI tweaks.

These are my ReShade settings but I do tend to tweak them a lot as I play if I don't like how something looks when I'm setting up a screenshot.

Lastly, when I take a screenshot, I up the resolution for even better anti-aliasing in the final shot since this game pretty much has none (and 4K is not enough). At those resolutions, the only way to achieve playable FPS is with several TitanX's in SLI.

Photography is 20% equipment, 20% luck and 20% skill! the rest is Composition and being in the right place at the right time!

Well, thanks :) There are advantages you have when taking game screenshots that don't exist in photography though. Like the ability to freeze EVERYTHING and still move the camera. The ability to tweak the time of day while the world is frozen in order to get the best possible lighting. Etc etc....

Look at this shot, for example. Not an amazing shot but it did require a lot of fiddling.

First I needed a cheat engine script that allows me to completely freeze enemies in place mid-animation but still allow me to move Geralt. This lets me get the enemy pose just how I want it. Then I spent 10-15 minutes just shooting Igni at the enemy, freezing the game, and checking for possible camera angles.
Random bits of grass or foliage constantly get in a the way and ruin a lot of angles. So I gotta keep repositioning Geralt and throwing more igni until I find something that looks good. Then I play with the time of day.

Also, unlike photographers, video game camera's can (literally) fly around much more rapidly, which is useful when you're like me and don't always know where you'll find the best angle. I wouldn't have the patience to actually walk around on the ground to find a good angle :p

I know that Geralt gets on his knees briefly when he meditates, but it wouldn't be in effect long enough for a screenshot. I'd also like to know how Vasil was able to take the shot!
I created a cheat engine script that allows you to freeze the game at any moment and still lets you retain control over the camera. So what you'd do in that scenario is freeze just after you leave the menu when meditating. That would freeze Geralt in that pose and give you time to position the camera.

For more information, you can ready my guide on how to get the best screenshots from The Witcher 3.

During gameplay, I play at 4K and get 45 FPS (I limit FPS to 45 since I can't maintain 60).

If your monitor supports native 50Hz, why not shoot for a locked 50FPS@50Hz? That's what I've been doing, and its quite a difference in terms of image fluidity.

Still, 4K + Reshade + Hairworks and still 45 FPS... You lucky bastard. Makes me extremely jealous.

That's quite a lot of GPU power though. Sadly, I could sell my current cards, replace them with 980 TIs, and actually MAKE money in the process :p

Probably should start posting these here instead of in the graphics thread.
