So, since I like roleplaying, I wrote a short headcanon background for my V in an attempt to build upon the background given in the Corpo Lifepath. And I wanted to post it somewhere on these forums! I haven't found an already existing thread for this and I can't create threads yet, so I felt like this was the most appropriate place to post this since it's a thread about sharing your V. If this is the wrong place, let me know!
This is only an early version, but I'd like some feedback!
Background:
Valerie Lionheart (anglicized from Leonhardt) was born on Friday the 13th, August, 2055. Valerie grew up as a streetkid in Japantown, where she was classically trained in Japanese swordsmanship during her upbringing; real training, not a digital skill shard inserted into her brain. She's fluent in English and Japanese.
Her main goal in life during this time was joining the Tyger Claws as a street soldier, which she managed to do when she was only 15. After about a year as a low-rank gangoon streetrunner, she met Jackie Welles. He had left the Valentinos about 6 years prior when he was 19 after being injured in a gang shootout, and managed to convince the young Valerie to walk away from the Tyger Claws. This was easier said than done; she had to make a deal with Wakako Okada, who would let her leave the gang in return for completing an assassination gig...her first kill. Valerie was successful, and Wakako honored the deal.
Jackie became like an older brother to her as well as her best friend, and she grew up in Mama Welles household.
A number of years later, Valerie still wanted respect and power, and did not fully understand the value of family. She managed to land a job at Arasaka, until the day her superior sent her on an unsanctioned mission in an attempt to grab more power. Before she could even get started, she was fired, every aspect of her corporate employment burned.
After attempting the Heist, losing Jackie in the process, meeting Silverhand and having the Relic try to take over her brain, she's now trying to save herself while helping the good and innocent of Night City...and killing as many evil shitheads as she can in the process. And then, she plans to join the Aldecaldos.
Nicknames:
Valerie's got a few different nicknames around Night City, since people talk. These are names that the regular inhabitants of Night City made up for her without knowing she goes by V.
In Watson and Japantown, she's primarily known as the Ghost of Kabuki. Amongst the Tyger Claws, she's known as Sakura no ha ( 桜の刃 ), meaning The Cherry Blossom Blade, due to her cherry blossom tattoo. To some Tyger Claws she's known as Sakura no meinu ( 桜の雌犬 ), meaning The Cherry Blossom Bitch due to leaving the gang, which was seen as a betrayal, as well as due to the sheer amount of them she's killed.
In Heywood and Santo Domingo, she's known as La Discípula, meaning The Disciple. She used to be known as La Discípula de la Santa de la Sangre, but they shortened it.
In City Centre and Charter Hill, she's generally known as "a criminal" due to the heavy corporate presence.
In the Badlands, she's known simply as Blackbird. This one is my personal favourite, for some reason.
Equipment and cyberware:
Valerie's main weapon is Satori, which she uses almost exclusively regardless of the situation. That said, she also carries Stinger, one of Jackie's pistols, Skippy and a non-lethal stun baton at all times. Her main cyberware is Sandevistan, but she's also got the best subdermal armor that Night City has to offer, as well as a jump boost and some implants that enhances the body's natural capabilities. She does not have any cyberarms.
