Voorhis Reveal (me) vs Alchemy.

Going into the last round a card over the opponent, but that card is a revealed fire scorpion and he shuffled back a dead cantarella into my deck. He draws Sweers, his only card, I draw ADC (bricked due to the dead cantarella) and swap it for Yen: Enchantress.

I play my Fire scorpion, he plays Sweers. Here's the thing though. I then play Yen: Enchantress into Last Wish and my 2 options are the dead Cantarella and ADC! And just when I thought "damn, lost this game", BOOM, opponent forfeits! :D

That was SO awesome :D

So, let's share some of our weirdest matches on good ol' Beta Gwent:

I decided i wanted something memey, so i did my NG copycat deck - basically put all the cards that let you steal, create or copy your opponent's cards, whether they're on their board, graveyard or deck.

It's a lot of fun, but is very binary - it either crushes the opponent or it doesnt work at all and im the one crushed. Here are two of the good results, where i was able to use the opponent's "thing" against him:

After getting a few wins with my main deck (Calveit with Ihuarraquax + Stefan + False Ciri) I created (pun intended) a Usurper Shupe deck with all the Create Silvers and Golds that I could fit in.

This match then happened: Eredin vs. Eredin. Both round 2 and round 3 were topdeck mode.

My Turn. Guess which card is about to provide a 30pt swing = D
(oh, and Naglfar is guaranteed to pull Whispering Hillock so I can double down on the Behemoth)

Another one, no pic this time...

was playing the same Arachas swarm deck (it sucks, but it's fun and funny for casual)... I've got 2 Vrans on on the back row and a bunch of Hatchlings, my opponent drops Skellige Storm on it..... I guess neither of us quite expected what was going to happen next

Turn starts, Storm fires and wipes out all my Hatchlings.... then both Vrans fire once for each dead hatchling, and then they fire again for each enemy killed, then the turn proper start and and I get a NEW hatcling from my leader for each that was destroyed, mostly on the same row.... ready to repeat itself automatically next round = D

I'm too busy laughing my ass off to take a picture, and my opponent immediately shame forfeits (I can't blame them, I would too)

Moral of the story, beware playing weather against Arachas Queens

I guess great minds think alike... i have almost the same deck, and it's the one that provided me the most fun this past week.

It's usually countered, because i take a loooong time setting it up, but when its not countered, the opponent gets crushed with 30,40, 50 point swings - between the 'crazy bug' boosting, the "vran machineguns", the respawning arachas (and my latest addition: she troll of vergen)

Here's some of mine, with a 'before' and 'after' for good measure:

After (2).jpg

Laughing so hard right now... just had a match with this deck vs regular deathwish... Went to R3 with 1 CA down, but he didnt have much control.

And i had crazy bug, 2 forktails, 1 epidemic, with a vran on board... after the 3rd of those, he gave up, between the destruction of my cards and his deathwish units, which would then hit mine, which would then hit him... Took like 45 seconds of that hitfest!

I often get surprised with gwent, there are so many options. Perhaps people can contribute here with "new" things they see that surprise them?
Let's say someone says "have you seen x y z before"? Then someone can answer, "yes' I've seen it, have you seen xyz", or "no, have you seen xyz". Doesn't even have to be like that, you can just say, "no that sounds crazy", or just yes. And anyone can ask "have you seen" as they wish.

I'll start then: (with what prompted me to start this thread), I was quite surprised, so here we go:

Have you ever seen 3x phoenix (hatchling) on the board before?

3 Phoenixes? Why not 4?
Holy Phoenixes 1.jpg

This picture was before the nerf from 5pt to 4, now it just doesnt seem worth it, since its provision cost is still ridiculously high.

That's nuts.. Haha.. Anyways, it is possible to counter for sure. The guy had them as artifacts on the board until the end. I could have gotten all 3+artifact(another) (last round), had I saved the white frost card. I think he over-relied on that card/move, because the rest of his hand was weak.

Sadly I was disadvantaged by this move, and I did not have the correct hand to deal with the issue.

I haven't seen it before, I'm sure next time I'll find a better plan.

This was my second match with a brand new Arachas Queen deck in the bear mode:
R1: normal game, we play 4 cards each and enemy pass when i'm 15 points up.
R2: pass
R3: Here things got weird. For some reason in this mode everybody focus on the bear and doesn't even look at other cards. So i play an arachas nest (summon 4 arachas). Then another nest. Then a couple on those guys who deal 1 dmg for every destroyed unit in my turn. Enemy still has 10 cards, i have 6. He's also up 20 point. Then i put the troll who get +2 for every destroyed unit. Enemy destroys the bear again and has still 10 cards.
Summon 3 arachas with the Queen ability and drop the guy who deal 1 dmg to everyone. Half enemy's units destroyed and troll up to 25.
Then i put another one. Troll up to 50. And then i put the guy who eat all arachas and get +2 for each.

What's weard? I passed and he spent 10 minutes trying to figure out a way to win the game being down 80 point (+-) He ended his deck before getting there (yes, he kept killing the bear.)

What a game.

I would like to share "funny" story, which happened in my duel and which I did not experience before, so it feels very unique and very improbable to happen.

I was chasing some contracts in Seasonal mode and was paired with opponent, who had custom tailored deck for that mode with Tibor Eggebracht in deck and his "invocation" through cards like Yennefer: Divination, Triss Merigold etc. Deck was clearly emphasizing on getting bonuses from extra bleeding and vitality mechanics. That player had to start in round one and after 5 turns, we had even score, so my opponent passed and I had to decide to either pass and then being in disadvantage of having to play first in second decisive round or to play another card to secure my win. I think, it was fair for opponent to decide to do pass at even points. My decision was to play extra card.

Then there started second round and I had 7 cards in hand, opponent had 8. I did pass without playing any card and opponent played Xarthisius, who out of all cards revealed ... tadaaa ... Curse of Corruption. This was simply losing moment for the whole match, because opponent was forced to play another unit and proceed to the final round with 1 card less than me, which was too big handicap to fight against and I won the third round.

My dear opponent, I feel with you and it really seems improper that whole duel is decided with one random event in second round. I feel sorry, despite it was not my fault. It feels like kind of contender for "play of the month" because of its unexpected, uncontrolled, yet decisive effect on match.

And the lesson is: don't play RNG cards that can backfire. I could write a whole book with examples of how Dijkstra (in beta) made for some epic RNG failures.

(Roche now has Dijkstra's ability)

I sometimes take the risk and play Cantarella in a round 2 where I have to win using only 1 card.

So, i just had a match that i had to share.

It was in Ranked. Im playing a Control Woodlands Deck, because everyone is expecting big monsters.

I was facing Calanthe, and this deck just destroys NR, but this time it was something else. You know how there's some players here complaining about the opponent always having the perfect card? Well, my opponent this match can rightfully complain about this!

It started because i had a large advantage R1, on blue coin, so i passed on 6, and he still went for R1 win, but 1 card down, probably because he wanted a long R3...

But then on R3... he starts with the popular Avallach+Natalis... and i happen to have Curse of Corruption!
He plays Lyrian Arbalest, with shield... i have Toad Prince, which doesnt care about shields.
He gives Vitality to Avallach, so he's 6 points when its my turn, but with +1vitality... i use the Crone that does 6Dmg!
He plays Revenant... i banish it with Cyprian Wiley.
He plays Seltkirk... i Muzzle it.
He plays Ocvist... i lock it with Dorregaray.
And to top it, still had Lacerate to damage his few remaining units...

That was some extreme bad luck, its not his mistake, i felt bad for the win, but at least i ranked up.

I feel bad for him - had the perfect counter for every single of his card.jpg
