Wisdom raises a point that occurred to me as well. Shopping and the consumer experience it describes should be very prominent in Cyberpunk. The whole multi faceted experience, preferably with Haggling, window shopping and seeing things you'll never be able to afford, (ever ever ever), being driven off by some Corp or Medtech.

Yes, Wisdom, that means things in game that are unattainable.

Unless, of course, you steal them.

Anyway, shopping. In mallplexes and noodle huts and black market chop shops.

If we're going to see 3D printers, I say we should see them only in said stores.

I don;t think we should see them at all, except maybe as background machinery in a tech shop.

The thing is, Cyberpunk is a very Corporate influenced world, and making 3-d printers commonplace would pretty much destroy the corporate oppressed feel of the game. It's hard to bitch about the high prices of stuff, or strict corporate controls, when you have a shitboxomatic making you shitbox goods for the price of a few recycled plastic bottles.

Having everything come from 3-d printers would feel like a cheap and crappy gimmick, a cructh in place of actual stores and services. And as has been said many times, a 3-d printer can only make the plastic bits... thats it...

Yeah, I would rather they just not be there.

You are making a mountain out of a molehill.
No one has said they want everything to come from 3D printers. Factories should supply our needs generally.
No one has said that 3D printed goods should be dirt cheap. In fact, most of us have said it should be expensive to use one.

Why don't we use 3D printers for everyhting now? We have access to them. The tech is there...
We don't because they are not economical. You need specific materials and the machines are wasteful from a business perspective. They are also a lot slower than a production line.

As I said before, nothing wrong with 3D printers as an expensive convenience. If your fixers can't hook you up, get your techie to build something and get the missing parts made on a 3D printer.

They should have a diverse market. Shop vendors, expensive places, back alleys, strip malls, street dealers, as well as buying things online. Legal and illegal.

Food and drinks, flying food trucks. Bars of course. Whatever it takes to make the city feel alive.

Also ADVERTISING should be invasive and in your face. Ads everywhere like propaganda, maybe sending some kind of subliminal message. Along with street graffiti changing along with the story, ads should follow.

Definitely. Advertising is everywhere in society and always has been in one form or another. For CP to feel real, we need some of that.

Perhaps on the bottom of TV channels.

"Buy XXX now! It's great!"

"Real estates at affordable prices! Call XX-XXX-XX XXX for info!"

...And, iIf we buy stuff online, it should be delivered to our safehouse for us to pick up.

That sounds good, apart from the delivery to the safehouse. Nothing comes to my safehosue. That's what PO boxes are for...

Nothing to any of my safehouses. Not even other players. I still chuckle when thinking about the look on some of the people when my character tells theirs that they are not coming home with him. I mean he just met these people, and probably saw them commit crimes up to and including murder. Why would he take them back to his place. Give them access to him while he is asleep.

Ohh..perhaps because if you treat your Team like they are eventually going to murder you, sooner or later, they will.

Of course you take them home with you. Anything else would be rude and akin to insult.

Of course it's not really your home, just a coffin you keep for the purpose.

Again, who the hell in CP2020 has a safehouse(s)? Or a home(s)? The Future Is Disposable. Stay Mobile, Stay Alive.

Can shopping be streamlined? I just want to order stuff "online" and have it delivered.

Please let us buy something corporate, then let us hack into it. Personalizing it or making it more powerful or whatever.

Something like rooting an android phone. Gotta love sticking it to the man.

I have no problem with shopping being mainly online, as long as you have to pay extra for expedited shipping. But buying on the black market on the other hand will require the right contacts and personal interaction.

Yeah. Most of our weapons are going to be black market. Anything fully automatic is illegal in 2020, without a special permit and anything else bought legally is registered, (along with its ballistic information,) to your SIN (ID number). Most ammo, most armour, most electronics, clothes and gadgets should be fine online though. Just remember, online purchases leave a papaer trail...

My characters always at least one safehouse.. It is always something extremely crappy though. (Like an old underground bunker with dead people in it or an old house that needs lots of repairs.. I liked old places like that, but let me tell you, it is not fun when you have to throw dice for both the repairs and the defenses.. Our GM was a total asshole.)

Well, my safehouse always had an emergency cache (Like a spare fake id, spare gear and weapons.) But i never ever got to use them.. (To be fair, i was a cop who robbed and killed "bad" people.. :D So the story never got to the point i had to run away.)

I don't care. Wisdom gets shit wrong all the damn time in this setting. He plays a -nomad-. Try to understand how loopy that makes him in a world of Solos and Netrunners and Cops. He also thinks the US is still potent in 2020, which is to laugh.

Safehouses are what you have when you need to feel safe in Cyberpunk. You should not have that feeling for very long. They depend on secrecy from your enemies. Secrecy. In 2020. That lasts longer than ten minutes and you have..in a physical location? Also to laugh. And you have caches?

"If they cache weapons somewhere, steal them. If they stop for a rest, mug them. If they can't handle the pressure, they shouldn't be playing Cyberpunk. Send them back to that nice role-playing game with the happy elves and the singing birds."

DO you want to go back to the singing birds? Do you?

Man, you have a play style, and i respect that.. But stop trying to insert your play style into other peoples games... Stop it! Stop!

Oh noes.. He will not stop! NOOOOO! (Read this in Darth Vader's voice..)

Safehouses are not only there to make you feel safe.. You say there can be no secrecy in Cyberpunk and you talk as if people could fallow your every damn move. And even it that was true, it would mean you couldn't hide shit from people. Since they knew where you are and where you are hiding, they would send shitloads of cops/enemies to wherever you go.. You wouldn't be able to do shit.. You couldn't hide weapons You couldn't but weapons.. (You know, they are watching..) Whenever you stole a car, they would be on your tail instantly. There would be no crime.. Since there is no secrecy. They are aware of your every move... You can't steal anything.. You cannot kill anyone and get away with it.. They are always watching.. Always there... Always...

Thats not cyberpunk.. Thats a game for conspiracy theorists... And annoying i might add.
