so most of us like and agree they could take a page or two from Sleeping Dogs, while I'm probably the only one who wouldn't mind a spider-man or assassin cyborg lol
games like Deus Ex didn't need these elements because they were completely plain shooters and stealth (if you chose so)
Here we are talking about freedom of choice.

And btw why didn't I see anyone mentioning Dishonored? although it is steampunk and has elements of magic and stuff but some elements indeed are great.
I don't know anything about the PnP so can't comment if it is even relevant here

Thing about this project is that its "based" on PnP game. Not everything will end up in the final game. OP skills or weapons most likely wont be included. Just because it was in the rule book doesn't mean a thing. You guys are going to far with those ideas.. Dishonored teleportation? grappling hook.. you guys need to chill a bit haha. might as well dont make any cover system. if you can just leap from A>B.

Anyway CDPR have some freedom to choose if they want to add some of their own ideas. So I think we will see many new gadgets or augmentations, exoskeleton armors etc made/added by developers. All depends what kind of combat system they came up with.

I agree on having parkour in game while yoiu are roaming around, perhaps to help you jump through wall, fence or hood of a car like in a Watchdogs demo. But nothing that can help become spider-man or something similar to Prototype game.. might as well don't include vehicle combat in this game or public transport if game will have NPC's running and jumping faster then cars. Even tho it was in the PnP game its not the same having it in actually video game. Again, OP skills basket.

Yes to parkour, to some degree anyway. I always think of cyberpunk settings, especially cities, as having lots of vertical spaces. It would be great to explore these in ways that didn't, always, involve stairs, ladders or lifts. Also, eluding capture or getting somewhere quickly using some amount of parkour moves would be fun.

Clearly, I have never played the PnP cyberpunk games, but I'm hoping my character is more stealthy and won't have to run.

I picture my Netrunner (hacker) slipping out of view using a personal cloaking mod, or walking away as a shimmer comes over her face and her features are changed, or unlocking a door with a cybernetic thumb and slipping away. The challenge for me is to be undetectable and blend in as a hacker.

*laughs* Yes!
Seriously though, perhaps only in various sections or in places where getting somewhere is time consuming or problematic. A broken lift leaving the option of dark, dingy internal stairs or a quick, dangerous leap up (or down) an exterior fire escape and possibly some pipes etc. :)

I would not mind if pakour was added...however i would prefer if it was for a specific class or upgrade instead of your character being a pakour master within the first 10min of the game.

OP or not, part of the fun in investing in some of the more outrageous cyberwear - and the commensurate eb and HUM cost - is doing the normally un-doable.

Like jumping a story in the air. Did everyone not enjoy jumping and falling Deus Ex and DX HR with the mods? Wasn't that fun? Yes, it was.

So although it might not be necessary, it sure would be a blast to leap 20 feet across onto the top of that combat aerodyne, punch through the roof with your Hammerhand and then fire the micromissiles mounted in your forearm into the cockpit, before leaping away and watching your enemy plummet to his fiery demise.

Then retracting the hardware with an electric whine and walking away.

I do realise this thread is 4 months old, but yeah.. BUMP

I really hope they add parkour because it always make games better. Not in one game, as far as I'm concerned, has freerunning or parkour made it bad. They should add parkour like in Sleeping Dogs which I saw someone mention here, or at least something similar. I don't want AC style freerunning in this game although I do like it.

Look at this video:

It's only 1 minute long. It was the shortest I could find :p

I think it would be awesome if they added parkour or freerunning like that.

@zespecter While all kind of stunts are cool, i think you can only expect some platforming....which isn't bad...

The thing is park our/ free running games are about reaching some point of the map through the shortest way or whatever you feel like taking, meaning there should be 2-4 options to go from point A to B. Sleeping Dogs wasn't really about this as much as Mirrror's Edge was. Not that cool third person sliding/jumping animations shouldn't be added though...

I would be happy with the 'Fredom of Movement' principals found in "Brink", the SMART movement system.
Now I realise that this is a 'cinematic' trailer, but the type of movements made in it were all available in the game. All because of ONE BUTTON! You could run at a wall, jump and bounce of it, grabbing a ledge you would not have reached otherwise. You caould baseball slide under a barrier, taking out someones legs and keep shooting all the way.

Yeah, I just want some cool animations and jumps. Doesn't necessarily have to be many options to get from A to B in my opinion as long as they have some cool animations for running/jumping around.

It all boils down to how we will move around our environment. With this sort of 'free running' principle, we can open a lot more options for people into the more 'subversive' styles of play. Being able to traverse obstacles that would otherwise require us to take a full frontal approach, we could potentially open the game more for the 'outside the box' mind sets. In the PnP games, Movement Allowance was my primary dump-stat. High reflexes and Movement Allowance would make for excellent stats for snipers and sneaky types, as they would be far more mobile and agile, able to scale buildings and evade pursuit. Not to mention some of the combat moves we could pull off. Imagine baseball sliding into the legs of a thug and nailing him point blank with a shotgun as he's falling.

I would like to see parkour in the game. Do not think it should be limited to certain roles. Parkour should be harder to learn. I am wondering what roles are going to be in the game. Just the ones from the main books, or all of them?
