The main point is that you should not feel forced into any one style of gameplay. As many styles as possible should be available for us to specialise on over time.

Agreed.

I wouldn't mind 'liberating' some sort of ACPA prototype with vectored thrust jets on it...
But it would have to be a one off mission.

No,no! Don't you force me away from my style of gameplay! I like flight! I choose flight-based movement and combat. Gonna be like City of Heroes. So much spandex awesome.

Chris - Jaa is mighty!

Vtmb, Im not sure that I've understood what your meaning fully, maybe im a bit too tired. To clarify I think my stance is pro combat mobilty with a greater emphasis on vehicles features as transport options. Traditional cover and run is all id want from an rpg and I'm not really wanting a parkour heavy approach (as in flips etc thst might require fixed course).

What i meant is, one has to wonder what mechanics should evolve with parkour/free running implementation into an action rpg before doing anything. It doesn't matter if some crowds think it's good or bad since we can't follow game development, and only those coming from C2020 and deus ex/TW games might have a rough idea of how C2077 is going to be like. Will it be in first person view? Will you need parkour after getting some leg augmentation? One can't be sure about this stuff, much less about mechanics. On the other hand people still show appreciation for some trends that shouldn't hurt as long as they don't matter much.

For example, throwing demons in air in dmc games feels good but you don't really need to do it to kill them. It's just as stylish as running animations were in prototype.

I showed this before, but quite a few people aren't bathering to check earlier in the thread.

Here is a video demonstrating BRINK and it's S.M.A.R.T. movement system:

It's not the best video, but it will suffice.

Every time you see the player vault a railing, pull himself up onto a container, catch the edge of a platorm or baseball slide, that is all done with one button. By looking at certain angles, you can baseball slide under an object, vault over it or blimb over it. Or, if you don't press the button, you stop.

Please note the lack of cartwheels and fancy overhead flips. That isn't what parkour is about. (Although the flips actually have a purpose, but I'm not getting into that now.) it's about 'Freedom of Movement', being able to go anywhere and go there quickly.

Personally, I was disappointed by how limited the movement was in Mass Effect. I want more than that in 2077.

If this 'ability' could be 'unlocked' through stats and improved with skills, I think those who want to use it will be very happy, and those who don't won't be forced to use it.

Again, this is another option, and we want as many as possible in 2077. And the great things about options is that you don't have to use them. They are there if you want them.

Should this game feature some form of parkour?

I'm not sure it's something that's mentioned at all in the PnP RPG, but when I think of Cyberpunk the genre, one of the things I always think of is freerunning; criminals running through the streets or across building tops, cops chasing after them. So my question is, do you think Cyberpunk 2077 should feature some elements of this?

Assassin's Creed and inFamous would be the two big series that feature this, but Prototype also features elements, and of course when it comes to a first person view you've got Mirror's Edge. I don't know if this game will be first or third person, but taking any of the running, climbing and jumping elements from the games I mentioned and putting them into Cyberpunk 2077 would certainly be cool. I imagine it would be a very fun way to navigate around the city, and they could even tie augmentations into it. For example, you could upgrade yourself with a pair of legs that let you run and jump further, or maybe a pair of arms that have some extra reach for when you're leaping for a far away rooftop and need to grab the ledge otherwise you'd fall (in the trailer, the woman has blades coming from her arms, but I could easily see some sort of grapple coming out instead).

That's the thread you need to be looking at mate.

I recommend using the search function and the forum guide thread before starting a thread.

Threads merged. Thanks for the link, Chris, it speeded things up. However, I'm still going to call this "redging a thread". :)

I'd love to see the king kong move! I think besides putting some elements obviously into the game it is a veeery cool theme to be put by platige image studio in the actual trailer for the game!
