I've played it twice and now I'm reading through pdfs of the old RPG sourcebooks and there is a lot of fascinating material here about the universe of Night City and how it diverged from our own and what it has been through - and practically none of this pops up in the game.
Should there have perhaps been something similar to the recordings in the Batman Arkham games - although without the hundreds of puzzle items to find to complete them - that you could have found to provide information about the South American wars, breakdown of society, plagues, collapse of the USA, the 4th corporate war, what happened between 2023-2077, etc? I know there are the shards and they have a few tidbits but its also just a lot of other stuff too. Maps, recordings, and videos would be a bit more enlivening than just text on a screen too.
