Signs doing double damage while unarmed

Everything dies twice as fast with igni when i put away my sword...is this intended or a bug?

The same applies to crosbow hits. If it is an intended mechanic and not a bug is one I don't like.

Maybe the idea is that you can use both hands for signs/aiming? Anyways, double damage is pretty brutal.
