Sky graphics problem

Anyone else experience concentric circles or rings through the entire sky? Its really annoying and kills immersion.

It's banding, due to poor color bit compression techniques, and such. I'm going to assume you're on an Nvidia GPU?. The same happens for me, in virtually all games. Skyboxes are particularly prominent with this, due to the very smooth gradiant.

I also hate it, and I've tried everything. It's due to Nvidia(so far as my own research is concerned). Others have also been complaining about it for a few years now. It was introduced when they did a big revamp of their driver systems, and it was never resolved, after countless threads / complaints, etc.

I'm not going to get into this right now, as it's a bit off topic. But, I've previously inspected the nvidia driver files with a hex editor, and I noticed they cut a lot of corners with their driver "optimizations". Even going so far, as to blatantly disable some graphical features in games, when their cards don't like them. For more FPS, for benches, etc...

I'm seriously considering going back AMD next buy, because of this, tbh. I never had banding problems on my AMD cards.

I'm on AMD and I get it too, to a degree. I know. Sucks.

Yeah. I'm pretty sure I have that in every open world game I own with my r9 280x. I don't notice it much but if I look it is there.

Thanks guys, very imformative. I'm on AMD and its very prominent. Ive noticed it in a variety of games throughout the years and figured it'd be gone by now, sad truly after all these years it still persists. Skyrim has a beautiful sky, of course it may be because ive modded the crap out of it. Hopefully modders can fix it in this.

It has nothing to do with graphics cards or processing. It's just another of the disadvantages of LCD displays. You can either have a big fat overpriced 16x9 or 10 CRT and have 0 input lag and no banding, or a plasma monitor with some input lag and no banding, but lots of burn in if you play for long periods with UI elements in the same position.

LCDs aren't the pinnacle of display technology, they are a major compromise.
