blah this wasn't supposed to go into a debate about how much improvement SLI really gives. I just asked for help and I am still hoping someone out there can maybe provide me with some insight if they have experienced this or might know what I can do. Any help is appreciated :)ps - i wasn't trying to come off snide or rude or anything I just wanted to stay on topic and i was guilty of not doing that myself [/quot]Sorry for all the subtrafuge guy . It really is silly ! SLI runs fine with this game altho it is not optimised for it . I am running twim 8800s with alternate frame rendering as oposed to split frame so i would look at that . Also turn your vsinc off . Make sure your hertz (refresh rate) are set to compatible with your monitor settings . Set 60 if in doubt and work up . Hope this helps .

well im on an LCD so it's always set a 60hz. I just forced vnsync off from the nvidia control panel and it still didn't work. I get into the menu and the screen flickers for a little then goes black and comes back into the game. It just repeats this. then when I alt+tab in the bottom right hand corner on my task bar I have a warning that says "display driver has stopped responding and has successfully recovered" and i have to quit the game.

Ooooo.. driver issue and screen rez issue!first question? are you using Vista? (sorry if you have already said, but I cant see you have looking at the posts under this "reply" box.)wow wow wow WOW!Hang on, you said it works with SLI off? This game does not support and has not got a call to the SLI protocol. So, yes, on some systems (depending on how the MOBO works SLI) it will crash.Sorry mate! You could try flashing the MOBO bios with the latest one. then downloading the latest SLI drivers for your MOBO chipset.Bare in mind that nVidia on Vista is pritty unstable anyway. Try to use the lastes drivers for your card from your cards manufactureres website. This is always the best solution because the cards manufactureres usually tweek the drivers to work best with there chipsets. ;)Appart from that, cant suggest alot because the game doesnt support the use of SLI... :-\if you give us your mobo make and model, and GPU make and model, I'll see if I can source them out for you so you don't have to.

evga 680i rev. A1 mobo... I am pretty sure I just flashed it to the most recent version though but maybe there is something I am missing.evga 8800 ultras (stock speeds) ... currently running the recent beta drivers from nvidia (174.74). 169.25 WHQL drivers give me the same results. I understand the game isn't optimized, etc. for SLI but if people are telling me it works for them it frustrates me that it won't work on my end! Vista Home Premium 32-bit btw.

TADA!http://www.evga.com/8800driver/Note the driver revisions "169.44" ;) they tweeked the latest nVidia release. This may solve your problem.I would fully un-install those beta drivers though. get THIS from my website, and install it. then use it to remove all associations with the nVidia beta drivers.Download your PROPPER drivers from "http://www.evga.com/8800driver/" and install them, you should be fine!Fingers crossed anyway ;). But SLI is an issue with Vista. You'll probably find that SLI works for the majority who are using XP and only a handfull who use vista ;)

hmm just installed them and it didn't crash at the menu like usual... I'll give it a go for a little and see if/when it happens. If not, then thanks for pointing me to those drivers. I knew they were there but I didn't know if they were any different, and I thought I tried them already so who knows. I'll let you know.

well I thought for a while we had a solution to the problem as the game ran with no nvlddmkm error using those evga 169.44 drivers for a few hours. I loaded up the game again today and almost instantly got the probelm, and every time I run it now it crashes in SLI mode. No idea what I can do now.

Hey there, my situation is identical to yours. You have to revert back to 163.75. Sli will work. The question is will older driver have other performance flaws that make using a current driver (169.25, 169.44, 173.74) without sli the better choice. Yes, almost every other game in the world will have poorer performance on this older driver but until nvidia releases another whql driver ...and I would think 'the witcher" peoples need to update patch to optimize sli without reverting back to a 6 month old display driver. And yes there is a fps improvement with sli enabled at 1900X1200 at max settings...small but noticeable to performance/ appearance snobs like me.
