SLI fix incoming?

I've been reading the nvidia sli boards and apparentley it isn't just me having trouble getting the witcher to run in sli mode. Most people just flat out can't run it. With it enabled on my system I get wicked flickers. Runs like a champ with it turned off. Vista obviously has the most issues though. Anywho....I run WinXp32, AMD Athlon 64x2 5600+, 4 gigs of ram, 2 Nvidia 8600GT 512 cards. Runs awesome with sli turned off. Runs like garbage with sli enabled. Is there an incoming fix for this some time soon. It's a pain turning it off only when I want to run the witcher....which is often. :p Thanks!

SLI is for the insane who have miss-understood the reason for SLI.SLI, Like CrossFire, is designed for "3d Artists" and "CAD Designers" to view there creation in realtime rendering. It is NOT for gamers, despite the overhype. For a start, the game or application MUST support SLI, you cant just rely on the nVidia drivers and system alone. ;)SLI "runs like garbage" anyway, and if you dont believe me, check out nVidia's OWN DRIVER NOTES. All the SLI problems are explained in there. You probably dont have a problem with other games, becuase a) there not as complicated as "The Witcher" (other background calculations, not talking graphics). And b) The Wicher is pure DirectX using direct to GPU routeens.Your other games may have sertain OpenGL support, or are ignoring the second card and you haven't noticed ;)

I understand exactly what sli is for and how it works. :p I have several games that benefit from it dramatically. The two that directly come to mind are MMO's and maybe that has something to do with it. Framerates almost double in both City of Heroes and Everquest II. Ergo...SLI works fine for gamers who know how to use it. There are other games that take advantage of it as well such as Oblivion. I mean SLI basically takes your two cards and turns them into one GPU. With sli disabled each card acts independantly and some games benefit better running like that. It's not as if one card just shuts off. Great concept but it does need work and I think The Witcher could benefit greatly with its usage.Crysis is another game that has dramatic improvements when SLI is enabled. The only reason you should have it turned off as a gamer is if you're running with dual monitors. In time....

use the v174.31 nvidia drivers - and you will have some nice sli support. Even tri-sli if you wish.
