Smokin' Judy

Does anyone know if denying Judy a smoke when she asks will prevent her from becoming a chain smoker? I love Judy but this is one aspect I don't really care about. Another question, will denying her that smoke negatively affect a possible romance?

As far as I know, you can't refuse :D
It's all blue lines. So after chosing them, you have to select the yellow one (in addition to piss off Judy a little^^).

You cannot deny her the smoke, as it's a flavor to the conversation.

And people can claim the game does not respect choices for doing so, but... she is an adult person with her own personality and the ability to make her own choices. So I personally never saw a problem with it, as it establishes her character and vulnerabilities and makes her more real.

Otherwise try to deny a real life smoker a smoke and see what happens :D

Yeah, Its good that V cant really change it.

But I was a bit dissapointed that you cant refuse to hand her a smoke.

Really? I had never though of denying the smoke until now, and thought it was an option. Google it and you will find people discussing what happened after denying the smoke (older posts though, for example https://www.reddit.com/r/LowSodiumCyberpunk/comments/kl7bbb ). Maybe this was "fixed" in some update?
I know to each their own, but smoking really bothers me in real life and having people constantly bathing your face in clouds of nicotine in the game (like Johnny, Judy, Maiko etc.) isn't too cool either.

Well it's not an option, as many have said here.

It's a flavor conversation choice. It's there to immerse and connect the player with the conversation.

Blue choices = flavor.
Yellow choices = actual choices.

Okay, let me prepare the matrix dodging bullets in slow motion. 1st film was the best imo. When I do Star ending, why does Carol & Judy act suspect? Like Carol has a thing for her? The disrespect. I got trust issues with Judy based on that! Or am I reading that wrong?🤨

Is that about Evelyn's cigarette case? I forgot if it's avail, but yea, I'd prefer to just rid of the thing.

Cause, if Judy wouldn't take it, my V would be like whiz it down into the river. Or, shove it into the Woodman's dying/dead face. I have no other use for that case.

A fellow gamer bothered by smoking here.

Did you listen their conversation ?
I sneak especially to listen them and from what I heard, it was just two girls discussing of their "former/new life". At least nothing which can lead to a doubt or trust issues :)

Yeah, just friendly chatter. Nothing to worry about. Gfs need friends too. I had to look it up on youtube tho.

Now that I looked it, I think it would have been cool if Johhny appeared during the ending, to wake up V from the dream. Like, EY, get up you're not done with Smasher yet, and THEN the ending story kicks in. Not every day you get to kill Smasher twice, eh? Compliments of the 'nightmare' game difficulty. We need that.

Now that I watched the nomad ending, I realize I am the lone wolf type.
My V even wakes up alone before taking on the Crystal Palace, despite the offers from River and Judy. No regrets(tm), save for losing Jackie and not getting the gear like Adam Smasher.

I couldn't bring myself not to give her one. She's very upset over Evelyn's death
just her way of releasing stress. To be honest, I wish V could have stayed there with her
instead to talk and help her though it, rather than her finding relief in a cigarette.

Indeed. The only thing that bothered me about the conversation is that my character couldn't either give the case away or toss it as soon as acquiring it. No way my version of "V" would carry that thing around.

I believe that CDPR got a ton of money from the tobacco companies to portray smoking in the game, much as movie studios do.

I could not imagine denying someone a cigarette in that situation

"Yeah it sucks that you found the body of someone you cared about but SMOKERS ARE JOKERS"

slaps hand

V is her own person too with her own free will. While Judy has the right to choose to smoke, V has the complete right to tell her no and not provide her one. As for real life smokers, they are all horrible people. There are many people with breathing issues deeply affected by second hand smoke and second hand marijuana. What I've read above is that we need to prioritize Judy's choice over our own free will and that's just dumb. She's welcome to choose anything she wants. V doesn't have to respect it, or assist her with her choice. The world would be a lot better for everyone if people learned that there are ways to enjoy tobacco and marijuana that do not impact other people around them. When you want me to start respecting a smoker, they better be the ones also showing respect for other people, who do not smoke, for any number of reasons; health issues especially included.

My V personally shoots every smoker she comes across in the game. They are attacking her body and her breathing, and that is an assault that she cannot simply say no to. So she kills them for being inconsiderate and not respecting her choice; which is exactly what you're saying we must do for Judy; respect her choice. No, we do not have to respect her choice. Bad choices do not deserve respect.

I don't think so, I could be wrong, but the "original world & characters" come from 80's, so smoking was still something cool, at this time :)

In all the far future movies/games where they smoke I always just believed they had conquered cancer and smoking made a comeback in popularity.

Not sure if in CP77 they conquered cancer. But knowing you can get a full body replacement, so except of the brain, cancer is no longer a real issue, if you're wealthy enough...
Lungs cancer? Not a problem, buy and install articial ones and you're good to go :D
