So how long is Geralt going to live?

I can't remember where I read this, but isn't he suppose to be able to live to like 500 years old, or something crazy?

Vesimir is said to be older than Kaer Morhen, which was built by the elves. Reading "The Last Wish" right now, so I'm not an expert but I'm willing to bet witchers rarely die from old age.

In "The Voice of Reason" story in "The Last Wish" the priestess of Melitele, Nenneke, says when she met Geralt he came up to her waist. Not done ready the books so don't know exactly but in the first book, he probably isn't older than 50.

Aye, most witchers don't get to be as old as Geralt, let alone Vesemir who must be oldest of all. I wouldn't call Vesemir lazy though. ;)

I remember something in the lines of "no Witcher has ever died of old age". So I guess no one knows how long their life span is, they get killed hunting monsters or fighting in battles and so on before dying of natural causes.
Coen died in the battle of Brenna for example, Serrit and Aucks (two Witcher assassins) died fighting Geralt, and Geralt died by the hands of a coward whom he spared during the massacre of Rivia.
you'll live by the sword you'll die by the sword, or in the case of Witchers by sword, monsters, magic, and ...

I did a little research, and came to do notion that he is somewhere around 100 years old(at the Rivia massacre he was 94/5),so I probably confused him with Vesemir(who is by all accounts well over 150).

Is there a possibility that Nenneke used to be a Druid or Sorceress before she became a priestess? I can't remember how exactly, but I also came to the conclusion that Geralt was around 100 years old at some point. Didn't Flash say at one point that Geralt was 106 years old in TW2, by CDPR's canon at least?

And @SMiki55 said yesterday that he lived to meet Nimue, some 100 years after the end of the Saga. That guy won't just die.

I don't believe he's as old as Yennefer. I remember that I read Sapkowski saying that he is around 80 years old, by the end of the books. Could be wrong though.

As to how long he CAN live, I don't think there has been any reference. :O

You're speculating about Geralt's age yet again, a topic discussed multiple times. About how much longer he has to live... I don't think we have enough information to know that. As others said, nobody knows how long a witcher can live, and we don't know much about their actual genetic adaptations and so forth.

For all we know as long as Vesemir is alive he will keep pushing that limit upward.

If he practice yoga and drink less he can live for ever. As long as he change profession.

So is Geralt dead officially in the books cannon, or was he brought back to life before the games brought him back?

He survives/gets revived by Ciri at the end. Season of Storms proved this.

Both he and Yennefer died and were taken to a place of the dead. Whether Ciri revived them there, or the ending of Lady of the Lake places them in an afterlife, is open to endless dispute. As far as anybody else would know, they were dead; only Ciri and the King of the Wild Hunt know the truth (and he's a notorious liar). I expect the new game will shed light on the events at Avallach.

Anyway, Geralt is younger than Yennefer, so at the oldest he's some years shy of 100. For him to be that old, however, Nenneke must be of extreme old age (being a priestess helps, I'm sure). But if you're the fastest sword in the North, it's a matter of time until you're the second fastest. Leo Bonhart could testify to that, but he hasn't said much recently.

To be fair Bonhart was a human without any mutations and enhancements, and as a human he stayed in the sword-fighting business for too long. I believe getting old slowed him down and he wasn't at his prime when he faced Cahir and Ciri, and although he bested Cahir he was slain by Ciri. I don't think Ciri or even Geralt could have defeated him that easily when he was at his prime. It is said that he had killed 3 Witchers. Yennefer said that Geralt fighting Bonhart is actually like a White Wolf fighting a Kitten, but I think she exaggerated to demoralize Bonhart.
Aging is less of a problem for Witchers since they live much longer than humans, and the aging process is much slower in the Witchers compared to humans.

It's not really whether Geralt would lose reflexes or eyesight or speed with age. Even if he does not, neither does the universe stand still, and someday, somewhere, somebody will be faster than him. More likely, somebody will betray, ambush, or sandbag him.

I completely agree. The end of the books is a proof that even the best swordsman can get killed by a simpleton and a coward one for that matter if the situation is right, and everyone will finally get bested even Geralt.

Well, I wouldn't call it easy, it took Ciri and Geralt quite a lot of time and pain to defeat him. But yes, growing old is probably no problem for witchers as they are immune to all/most of the diseases as Triss mentiones in the Blood of Elves.
