So now that we have the ability to cherry pick skills; what type of builds will you use?

I have one primary build in mind for the "bulk" of the game; which will naturally become more filled out as I progress. However there are a plethora of ideas I have for focused and novelty builds.

Main playthrough

Omni Build (Mid-late game)
All five of the major signs at relatively full strength(unless there are few turkeys cough Yrden cough) with a focus on Ard and Igni. A handful of general abilities enhancing stamina, dodging, and health(recovery, and max amount if there is room). Sword abilities with an emphasis on speed, and group attacks. With no alchemy skills unless rage is present, and than only if its worth using.

Berserker Build (Early-late game)
General abilities enhancing survivability in direct combat. As many sword abilities as possible; group, speed, power, and mutilation are the name of the game. Magic nothing. Alchemy nothing unless it has berserk, and than fully leveled.

Warlock Build (Early-late game)
All destructive magic upgrades, and general abilities supporting it. Minor investment into swordplay. No alchemy.

Challenge, and "weird" runs.

Jedi Build (Entire game)
Only two signs maxed Ard, and Axii. All sword moves focusing on speed and group attacks, with a few points thrown into any dismemberment passive. All health, and stamina upgrades. No alchemy.

I'm a doctor not a Witcher! (Entire Game)
All alchemy. Some general. Nothing else.

HELLO! MY NAME IS INIGO MONTOYA! YOU KILLED MY FATHER! PREPARE TO DIE! (Entire Game)
All Sword Play. Some general. Nothing else. No crossbow.

Pyromancer (Entire Game)
Maxed Igni. Maxed alchemy in regards to bombs. Some general and swordplay.

Fist Fighter, or Geralt has been hitting the moonshine to much again. (this will probably be my nth playthrough of the game...)
All alchemy, and a primary general focus on defense, buff, and health upgrades. No swords, no shirt, no shoes, and only fist fighting. If any sword fighting abilities work without a sword I will grab those as well.

Do we know exactly what kind of skills will be in the game? Same as in The Witcher 2 (with Training, Swordsmanship, Magic and Alchemy trees) or somehow different?
Anyway, I will focus on swordplay and alchemy. with some minor help of magic (probably Aard and one other sign).

My first, "canon" game, will probably be focused on sword, after that some alchemy, and if basic options will not be enough, a minor tweaks to igni and aard. All that with general abilities maxed out.
After, let's say 2 first "normal" games, I may go ape-shit and do some warlock, pyromancer etc., just as you listed them xD

Training is gone, and there is now 4 trees; general, alchemy, sword, and magic.

You think that with CDPR making over 90 combat animations that I won't go full swordsmanship on my first playthrough? Pfft. It's one of the things I'm most looking forward to.

Yes very true but first I will test my sword on the first person(if a beautiful female then not),village, town, city, etc and lastly "the bounty hunters" (which was a pain in TW1 )

No crossbow might be a bit of a problem underwater. Other than that I somehow laughed when I saw "Jedi build". Good ideas you've got there.

In the past two games I've gone swords on first playthrough, magic on the second. Will probably do the same for this one especially since there're 92 combat animations, and also because it sounds like it'll be more rewarding than TW2 (active skills instead of mostly passive buffs and all that).

Though I'm actually interested in an alchemy build this time around too. The main problem with TW2's alchemy tree is that I always figured I should spend skill points on stuff that I could actually do in combat, stuff that had more immediate effects. Now that we can "use" potions in combat maybe alchemy builds will be fun.

SS-man build.

That is Swords and Signs with emphasis on finishers, aard, igni and quen. That's been my favorite build since TW1. Most fun and versatility. And it's always rad to ignite an enemy, aard hiss ass into the ground, then pull him back up and slice his tendons. That never gets old.

I will probably focus on Sword with a little bit of Alchemy, but can't say for sure, because the Flamethrower Igni seems to be very effective and since I'm planing to play on hard I might be forced to take it

Definitely going with swordsmanship and signs with a few, as little as 1 or 2 slots, for alchemy just to make those special monster hunt more manageable, especially very early in the game

I would like to give alchemy a try ... in witcher 2 it was kinda unatractive , (hate grinding) ... But now it seems worth a look(never even touched it in my 8 or 9 playthroughs)...

Yes SS-Build indeed ;)

I might be choose:
-The demolition swordsman, heavily focus on bombs (alchemy), the rest of it on swordsmanship and basic signs
-The Witch doctor, 40% alchemy (heavily on potions, poisons and oils), 40% signs, 20% swordsmanship
-The ranger witcher, 30% alchemy, 20% signs (heavily on passive-defensive signs), 50% swordsmanship, focus on speed and range attack (crossbow or throwing knife)
Jedi and Berserker might be fun too.

Traps. Traps & Lures. Traps, Lures & Bombs. Traps, Lures, Bombs, Sword to clean up.

Plus Intoxication, naturally.

Without seeing the skill trees my mind is set on Sword > Signs > Alchemy (if any of the starting skills is good enough)
I might change my mind after seeing them.
