So what's the general consensus among 360 players?

I mean those who never played TW1 or TW2 on PC. Brand new guys just playing the EE. How do you guys like the game? And don't soften your opinion out of fear of being gang banged by PC gamers; give a completely honest opinion.

A few of them have already posted their first impressions in the different threads on the board.

First time Witcher here (360)... After getting used to it and learning the mechanics, I'm really enjoying this game. So, thumbs up! ;)

1st time Witcher here on X360, After coming from Oblivion, Skyrim, Dragon Age 1&2 Fallout 3 i'm finding the story very good. Still getting my head around the combat mechanics with the use of signs and oils etc, but only just started Act1 and off to find a Troll
I know the troll ia an alcoholic, is it better to help him or kill him?

Geralt seems to lose his weapons more often when I'm playing on the 360.

Overall, the game looks great and for the 360 it does fairly well. There are bugs and UI response time issues that do mar the game though, and for people on the 360 that may not have played the first one, they are likely to be lost in this whole universe.

Talk to him and you'll know why to spare him.

Btw hows the camera controls in the combat? My friend said it's the most horrible thing he has ever encountered.
His main complain was that in the battle if you was fighting an enemy and then move the camera the game would then ignore your current target and select a new enemy.
Is that true? hows the target lock?

As a total noob - never having played any witcher, but a lot of RPGs, my impressions are:

* Very nice looking game on console

* Lots of background story from W1 that had left me scratching my head in W2 for first hour or two - even now, at the end of CH1, there are lots of references to Geralt's past - Glad he has Amnesia for now, cause I feel like I do too as a player

* Combat - very clunky in beginning, not unlike Skyrim 360; I have gotten used to it, and not worse than other games

* Load times = not bad...I have both disks downloaded to my HDD

* little too heavy handed on the politics

Wha?! That's the best part! It feels authentic and not forced. It's relatable to an extent. I love it.

I say that only cause I am playing 'story catch up' and a lot of the politics seems to stem from what was in W1 - when they meantion King X or King Y, it means little to me.....that awesome intro scene is cool looking, but no idea if the King that died in that means anything really....still not sure.

That said, enjoying the heck out of the game. W2 on 360 does make me wish I played W1 first, but i am super OCD about details

Just like you, Geralt doesn't care about kings and he'd rather not be a part of the scheming politics. The Witcher 1 mentions a few kings but it's not all that important in the context of the Witcher 2

Not really. Witcher 2 starts in a very dense way, but pretty much the only thing you should know from Witcher 1 is its outro which shows assasination of king (foiled by Geralt).

Witcher 2 demands attention and wants you to read its journal, but it does not require much knowledge of Witcher 1 or even books.

only 2 kings are really mentioned in TW1 and you don't really have much interaction with them, even Foltest. The first game doesn't focus so much on the political goings on as much as it does a more independent (yet extremely brilliant) plot. The best thing i can suggest for helping catch up with the political situations would be to click around the wiki. It does a pretty good job of warning for spoliers so you wont have to worry too much about spoiling part of the game (though i would still recommend being somewhat cautious when if it references the game specifically)

I am loving it. Combat takes getting used to. I love the difficulty on normal. It doesn't hold my hand and makes me learn from my mistakes in combat.

This goes for all decisions in the game: they are yours and yours alone. Just follow your gut. Nothing is ever truly black and white, so just follow your instincts. If you think the troll deserves a death, kill him. If you think he should be spared, spare him. No matter what you do, you'll get the most out of the game by making decisions for yourself. :]

Well if it's any help, a lot of this past has been created for the game. Trust me, you aren't the only one to get confused! BTW if you find politics too complicated by the time you finish the game (I sure did), I recommend looking up two fantastic write-ups by our forum member, [member=knightofphoenix]. Just don't look them up before you finish or you'll get terribly spoiled.

Well King Demavend and Henselt are new to the games. Radovid and Foltest only come in at the very end in Witcher 1. There really isn't much your missing the videos do a good of explaining what you missed. Since you can't import a save Adda is dead so Radovid never marries her which was one of the bigger outcomes from Witcher 1.

The Witcher 1 was more of a personal story that ends up becoming larger. It may have had some politics but it was by no means close to Witcher 2 in that reguard.

When you're done with the game (preferably done with both paths, they are spoiler heavy), check my article out.

Hopefully they'll help you grasp it more.

I wonder how is it that Witcher 2 is overwhelming for the new players.

Mass Effect for example also introduced a brand new sci-fi world with lot's of new races, names, places to learn and I don't remember people complaining about it.

Too buggy and problematic.

There's a consensus among the game design tenets that if one dies ten times in a single playthrough that balance has not been properly maintained.

And there's more..

Having never played either Witcher game on the PC, I am greatly enjoying the game. The combat controls took a bit of getting used to, but other than that it's been awesome.
