Social Features (Guild/Clan/Hub)

+
So far most of the lines in the game are very good, I very much like dandelion "That was actually impressive, congratulations." line, as after a stomp it can be a great insult or after a close match it can be used as a compliment. However I'd like a few more lines that could fit into the categories we already have. Id like a "Well played, friend!" or something close to it that I could potentially swap out to be a bit more polite.

Watch your friends' matches in-client real-time

I would love to see this perk introduced to the game.

To be able to connect to my friend's ongoing match and watch it as they play real-time (as a spectator). This won't replace the coop mode but would at least give you a sensation of it.

Does anybody know how difficult is it to do?

I would like to see just simple "Hello" in the in-game communication 'wheel' ... I feel I can't say hello without sounding like a condescenting twat.

Also a simple GG would be good, when I say "Well Played" the tone of the voice and the text makes it sound like I'm being an arse rather than just saying GG ... I was there is the GG 5 scraps at the end but you know, unless your opponent is seriously grumpy all hit that.

I like the suggestion but for now it might be tricky to make that happen because at least in some cases CDPR would probably need to record new samples, and that means contracting the old voice actors and actresses, which is rather expensive considering that low amount of samples. Also it might take some time until those people have time for that.

- spectator mode when in game friends are playing.
- the ability to rewatch the last games you played ( last 5 or 10 for example is ideal )

Guilds

Guilds will work like in other massive online games, communities of players with the following features:

- Official guilds will send a guild application to devs to make sure certain requiremenst are met
- Guilds will always be created with a favored faction, that can never be changed
- Guild members playing with a deck of their guild´s favored faction will boost leader by 2 points as additional deploy ability
- Guild members will be able to trade spare cards by spending half the scraps it would cost to craft the card they are getting in the trade
- Guild members will display a guild trinket in their profiles when playing matches
- Guild members will contribute to a guild MMR and guild rank when winning matches
- Guild members will always be able to play friend matches through guild portal
- Guild members will have access to a members only guild forum to discuss strategies and anything else about Gwent

There are plenty of funny and cool things that we can do with the guild features described above, from creating teams and guild tournaments, having a guild advantages linked to a guild rank and moving Gwent from a "lone wolf" approach to localized or themed player communities. I could elaborate a lot more, but´d rather hear what other people have to say.

Why should one have an advantage as a guild member above a "lone wolf" player??? Makes no sense to me. Besides you can play friend matches with everyone in your friendlist anytime without a guild.
I understand the rest of your notes tho. Team Tournaments are an intriguing idea. There was a tournament that was team-based - don't know which one, I didn't watch it - I think it was a Bo5 with 3 players, every player playing one leader. I'd rather like to see a format similar to Table-Tennis team competitions, as I remember them. It could mean for Gwent, that you got a 5-man squad playing a Bo5, with every single player playing a 1v1 on a (e.g.) Bo3 one faction ban-conquest.

Team A vs Team B

Bo3 A1 vs. B1 0-2
Bo3 A2 vs. B2 1-2
Bo3 A3 vs. B3 2-1
Bo3 A4 vs. B4 2-0
Bo3 A5 vs. B5 2-0

Bo5
Team A : 3
Team B : 2

With a potential 2v2 mode for Gwent a team competition could include those too.

Team C vs Team D

Bo3 C1 vs. D1 2-1
Bo3 C1/C3 vs. D1/D3 1-2
Bo3 C2 vs. D2 0-2
Bo3 C2/C3 vs. D2/D3 2-1
Bo3 C3 vs. D3 1-2

Bo5
Team C : 2
Team D : 3

To me, having a slight advantage being a guild player over a "lone wolf" is something cool that will encourage creation of player communities, which is good for the game. Honestly I do not think that anybody quits because they don´t want to join a guild and feel hampered for such an advantage, but I admit it is a risk. Maybe described advantage could occur only when two guilded players play against each other, but not when a guild player plays against a "lone wolf". This way remains the guild feature and all of its benefits, while the game balance won´t be altered at all. As a guild player, you might face another guild player so that both will get a boost to your leaders (providing you are playing with your guild´s favored faction) or a "lone wolf" and have no advantage at all.

Regarding friend matches, you are right. But joining a guild will have the pro that you can start playing matches right away without mixing up such a list with your friend list, adding another social category to the game (guildmates) that you can also interact with in the guild forum and teams.

One of the most requested features. There should be some implementation of sorts. The easiest way to add social features without being invasive is the following:
  • During the match there should be a basic emote system that allows for 1 or 2 emotes per minutes (to avoid spam abuse).
  • After the match there should be a rematch button, if you want to challenge the same opponent again.
  • Keep a history of the 10 last matches played (including video playback, while we're at it).
  • For every one of those (10) matches you can send a friend request to the opponent.
  • Once befriended, you can have a whole array of new options, like chat, spectator mode, friendly battle, deck sharing, etc...

That would be really cool.

Loved the idea!

If someone wants to join a guild (any sort of organized community) (s)he does not need to be encouraged by any kind of advantage in-game. Having some sort of "guild-support" implemented could be cool tho.

I think that this might help the Gwent community to be more "tight" and active, making groups where people can join and talk, and it would be cool to show your group's name/icon alongside your username on the Leaderboards, and also have a Group Leaderboard. Besides, chatting to other players improves the game experience by a lot, and that's not easy for people getting into Gwent.

What? How would a global map even work in a card game?
Also, I really don't think either of those things would fit in GWENT; it's not an MMO.

Yeah, I also have doubts if that approach would work for Gwent. After all we are controlling a leader of a faction and his army. Not sure how to implement Clan Wars here? Maybe this idea would work better if Gwent was about an individual character and his abilities - but that‘s a different game.

Then again, perhaps one could turn the faction challenge we know into a new and separate mode where you have a map with several conflict zones you can click on and by winning or losing a game in a conflict zone you can strengthen/weaken your faction there. But I‘m not dev so no idea if that would be fun.

Rather easy.
We've got a Global Map(The Map of Northen Realms, e.g. which divided on sectors. The control under each sector gives different bonuses for clans - orbs, scratches, etc. and points.

The battles between clans can be limited and he number of players can be limited, too.(e.g. 10 vs 10 or 7 vs 7 or 10 is a maximum number from each part)
After the battle starts(in prime time of each sector) the server divide both clans' players in 2 eams and randomly make pairs. Loosing clan players leave the battle, the winners - stay. After 1 round(if atleast 1 player of any clan alive) goes second one and so on untill one of clans loose all his playes.
A loosing player will get a 24 hours ban(36/48/72/etc) and cant take part in next battle untill his ban ends. If he wants to shorten or cancel his ban he can buy a special thing(potion/spell/etc) which will help him. The price might be different - gold or special points of clans or smth else.

Anyway i will give us a new mode - team battle and will give such aspect as socializing.

Good to see finally someone making good use of this forum. Social feature is one of the weakest aspect of Gwent, and anybody here hardly ever talks about it. In fact, we all use this forum to socialise about Gwent, instead of within the game.

You know where chat would go to really fast, if opponents are on the road to crankiness already because of a losing streak, right?
That really shouldn't be an issue, since it's a mature game.

If they added a toggle as well, people could opt out.
I think toggle would be an obvious option.

During the match there should be a basic emote system that allows for 1 or 2 emotes per minutes (to avoid spam abuse).
Aren't Avatars that? Also, instead of a time-limit, there should be a toggle/mute option the way it is now. Since spamming can be fun at times.

We've got a Global Map(The Map of Northen Realms, e.g. which divided on sectors. The control under each sector gives different bonuses for clans - orbs, scratches, etc. and points.
For a map, let's choose the Earth/World map instead of the Witcher's. We already have a Leaderboard divided in continents, and a faction challenge. So, for the faction challenges, every player could choose a faction for a month, and then the matches that they win with that faction will add to that faction's total wins, as it is now. But instead, the whole continent, or country (based on how local the data is that CDPR collects) could glow in the colour of the faction who has the most wins there. And every faction would fight to make the whole world glow in their faction's colour. Since Gwent isn't clan-based, this makes sense I guess for the players to participate as a faction, as it is already. In this way, every Gwent player can support their faction locally, for a global win. So, it'll be turf-based somehow, since your wins will only make your region (country or continent) glow. And in the end, every faction player can be awarded based on the %age of world their faction painted in their faction's colour, and the total wins that their faction made. There could be a faction leaderboard or hall of fame or something, where a score of every faction's total and that month's win is kept. And the colour theme of every players' Gwent's interface could be changed to tribute theall-time winner. This will encourage the players to change the all-time winner if they get bored of or don't like that color or theme. And keep the game from saturating, as players will be free to choose a new faction each month. This is how I would've done it.

Although on a casual second thought, Gwent was imagined to be a relaxing bar game without much consequences at all. I think there should be a mode where if you lose, the winner can take any card from your deck. Or you've to give him a card from your collection of a pre-decided type and class (pre-decided for both players). As it was within the game. This will bring some of the lacking thrill to the game, specially for experienced players who have unlocked most, if not all of their collection. Or this could even be made into a general rule.

@IAxiiYourMother Your name gets me every time. I'd wanna play Gwent with you. Too bad there isn't a Geralt: Axii card for you, yet.
