[SOLVED]Witcher continuously results in BSOD

Problem:BSOD Stop 0x00000101 (0x00000060, ...) received anytime I run Witcher: Enhanced version 1.4, any settings, during "video" sequences (e.g. introduction)All other applications seem immune to problem.While I believe it is video related, I cannot isolate the problem.Possibly, motherboard not compatible with CPU, although ASUS site states it is. And, it has worked up until now.Any help on the "Bug Check" would be appreciated.---System Specs:ASUS M2N4-SLI, BIOS 1204Built in RealTek AC'97 (disabled)AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+Artic CoolerGeforce 9800GTXSB-XFi Extreme AudioSeagate 250GB SATA drive8 GB RAM - Corsair PC6400 4 x 2GBAdditional Info:No overclockingBIOS 1204 is beta, so also tried with 1002.AMD Dual Core optimizer running.Internal temps are normal.Memory Diagnostics: passedVideo Driver: Nvidia Geforce 178.13 WHQL(Also rolled back and tried others.)Sound Driver: Up-to-date(Tried removing SB card and driver, reverting to RealTek AC'97,Tried disabling both and removing SB card)Reseated all cards.BSOD Info:MODULE_NAME: ntFAULTING_MODULE: fffff80001c49000 ntDEBUG_FLR_IMAGE_TIMESTAMP: 4812c3f7BUGCHECK_STR: CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUTCUSTOMER_CRASH_COUNT: 2STACK_TEXT:fffff800`02f44aa8 fffff800`01ced311 :00000000`00000101 00000000`0000006000000000`00000000 fffffa60`005ec180 :nt!KeBugCheckExfffff800`02f44ab0 fffff800`01c97eda :00000000`00000000 fffff800`02f44bd0fffff800`02f44c20 fffff800`01c303c0 :nt!wctomb+0x4c19fffff800`02f44af0 fffff800`01c1340f :00000000`00000000 fffff800`02f44bd0fffff800`01c303c0 fffffa80`0933a1c0 :nt!KeUpdateSystemTime+0xeafffff800`02f44b20 fffff800`01c9fb2d :00000000`00000000 fffff800`01c303c0fffffa80`07cf5f00 fffff800`01c115cb :hal!HalSendNMI+0x65ffffff800`02f44b50 fffffa60`012eb062 :fffffa60`012ea0d9 fffffa80`00000001fffff800`02f44d50 fffff800`01dbd680 :nt!KeSynchronizeExecution+0xc7dfffff800`02f44ce8 fffffa60`012ea0d9 :fffffa80`00000001 fffff800`02f44d50fffff800`01dbd680 fffff800`01ca7a9f :amdk8+0x4062fffff800`02f44cf0 fffff800`01cb97b8 :fffffa80`0b382bb0 fffff800`01dc2b80fffff800`02f44db0 fffff800`01ca1a2d :amdk8+0x30d9fffff800`02f44d20 fffff800`01ca8b31 :fffff800`01dbd680 00000000`0000509c00000000`00000000 00000000`00000000 :nt!IoAcquireRemoveLockEx+0x3d8fffff800`02f44d80 fffff800`01e765c0 :00000000`00000000 00000000`0000000000000000`00000000 00000000`00000000 :nt!ExEnterPriorityRegionAndAcquireResourceExclusive+0x141fffff800`02f44db0 00000000`00000000 :00000000`00000000 00000000`0000000000000000`00000000 00000000`00000000 :nt!RtlGetCompressionWorkSpaceSize+0x700STACK_COMMAND: .bugcheck ; kbFOLLOWUP_NAME: MachineOwnerIMAGE_NAME: ntkrnlmp.exe

Try to set some true 16:9 resolution like 1024x576 or 1280x720 or 1680x945 - still crashing to BSOD? I'm not telling that's the solution, but I have some hypotesis...

I set the screen to two different resolutions: 1440 x 900 (true 16:9) and 1680 x 1050 (true 16:9)Neither seem to produce better results at surviving a crash.I "clean" installed all video and motherboard drivers (nVidia.)If I let it run through the introduction, it now makes it. But, only about halfway through the first scene starting a New Game.I have found I can ESC through the video scenes and the crash becomes unlikely, but then I miss most of the storyline.

Additional note: Based on some of the other crashes posted in here, I removed nVidia drivers and used Driver Sweeper to clean up before going back to 175.19. It crashed on the introduction video. I then uninstalled and used Driver Sweeper again to move up each newer driver reaching 178.13. Intro still crashes, although sometimes I make it to the menu with the latest driver, only to have it crash on the New Game intro.

Neither 1440 x 900 (true 16:9) nor 1680 x 1050 (true 16:9) are really true 16:91440/16*9=8101680/16*9=945For my hypotesis is imperative to use TRUE 16:9. Witcher is not offering them by default. You must create new profile in nVidia control panel. Here is the way how to do that.

Okay, I didn't do my math correctly.Setting the monitor to 1680x945 resulted in a crash at about the same spot in the New Game cutscene. It did make it through the intro, but it was already doing that on occassion.

Hm, that my hypotesis was wrong and I have no other idea how to help You. Sorry.

After reviewing several sites, the problem is most discussed in AMD land.Seems to be a problem between the South Bridge and the CPU.Although M2N4 is marked as a compatible motherboard for the X2 6400+, it may not be.Swapped the motherboard (M2N4-SLI to M3N78 Pro) No more problem. (All other components as they were.)
