Sony and its 'monopoly' and wrong decision on Cyberpunk

+
PlayStation pulled it likely because CDPR didn't talk to them before announcing they could refund it. PlayStation is notorious for being utterly terrible when it comes to refunds on digital items purchased on their PSN storefront. The game whilst in a bad state was not in a bad enough state for it to be pulled, several games have released in similar or worse states and been completely fine. The fault is mostly CDPRs for coming out and announcing you could just refund it if you wish. PlayStations blame comes from their general refund policy being incredibly anti-consumer. Sony's refund policy for digital goods is one of the main reasons I'm incredibly reluctant when it comes to buying a digital piece of media from them.

Now, will this in the long-run serve as a warning to CDPR and other publishers on releasing their games in bad shape? That's what I think everyone hopes but I think in reality this is a one-off occasion and as long as a publisher doesn't do what CDPR did then PlayStation will continue to barely give two shits about broken games releasing on their storefront. As long as it doesn't brick the system and it boots up then PlayStation is almost definitely fine with putting it on their store and taking a slice of the pie.

Yeah, i agree.

Sorry and...yes and regardless of what you think, think about, I know what it is. :)

No offense but it doesn't sound like it. So can you explain how Sony is a monopoly? There are other options for people who own a PS4 to get the game. Sony's store wasn't the only option.

Yes, monopoly just like Microsoft, Stadia, whatever ... rare conglomerates that even determine the price of raw materials. And you should attend to the simple fact of the branching of this, another characteristic, in other countries, capital exports, etc. But I will not enter into this more economical debate here ... I quoted, by way of illustration, even about one of Sony's various divisions.

:) Yes, I know very well what it is, including in politics how the world of private monopolies works.

Well having played and enjoyed on pc this game I feel bad for those ps4 owners that cannot do so. It's a shame as there are people who would have not minded to wait for the patches while still enjoying the game for what it is (aka buggy). Now instead they have to wait for when Sony opens the doors to CDPR once again, when this will happen and under which conditions is still unknow, so there is uncertainty for them at when they will be able to buy the game.

They don't have to wait for the game is still for sale on physical copies and honestly, that's where I'd advise most people buy from if they own a console. You own the content you purchase you can do with it as you please. Sell it, keep it, cheaper prices in the long run no worry of account loss or ban.

That being said I'd wait until major patches drop before purchasing to those still sitting on the fence.

None of those things you mentioned Microsoft and Stadia for example are monopolies.

Something must be clarified, your worldview is yours, not mine. Get into the merits of the topic and try not to run away from it with this nonsense about what you think others think about the world. This you keep for yourself. Learn that there are divergent opinions and that we can live with them and that, necessarily, the fact that A says A does not mean that B has no reason, perhaps even more real, to say B ... or both agree on some points. ... try not to impose what you think and yes, I know how to differentiate the mere discourse from 'I hate the world, it has to end' from constructive criticism.

Worldviews or not, monopoly has a set definition.

For whom, bourgeois liberals or proletarians, for democrats, social reformists, right-wing populists or Socialists, left? Watch out, life is not just 'I hate CDPR'. I think this matter is closed, at least about what would be a monopoly or not. Do not like? I don't care about that ... for 'your liking'. :) the world still around, the day, come after the another day...

Anthen still on PS Store :D

I think it's a shame that people should be subjected to mere trade wars between or launched, declared, by private monopolies, against companies around the world, in particular, the war declared by Sony (and unfounded war) against CDPR. In my country, Sony has been closing factories, evading the terrible wages that paid its divisions to employees and incentives received from the State ... in the so-called 'Manaus Free Trade Zone' - which is not the case, of course, if not in a way illustrative of what Sony really is in the world ...

About the game, that's what matters here, I found it very bad that Sony took the game out of its store ... alongside or seen that many gamers, despite complaining about possible bugs, would be being deprived of the game they like.

This is the typical case where a monopoly tries to determine the market ... something 'against the rules of the game' ... or free market philosophies ... (laughs).

Huh? CDPR doesnt deserve to have their game in store when it doesn't even work properly...

If that premise were real, true, had half a truth, it would be the same with Anthen ... or other titles. But it is neither close, real, nor true.

I'm sorry but I don't understand what you're trying to say. Anyway liberals, conservatives, whoever all should have the same definition of monopoly. It's not a matter of "do not like".

I think you should purchase an OED to understand what that guy was saying.

I think you should read more books and political economy, but what I think about you is irrelevant. You debate the person because you want to omit to debate the context of the idea or the idea that the person speaks about.

RD2 is another example - in addition to Anthen

In August, if I'm not mistaken, they released a patch and with it, dozens of bugs and problems that turned the overall experience into something horrible. Corrected, as far as I knew. Before, except for PS, it was something umplayable for PCs and even so, the game continued in the windows, being sold.

This is the fate or destiny of games - everyone, almost without exception ... they have or have endless or unimaginable bugs. It is even understood if, in common agreement, and that is what I think happened, in fact, there is a certain delay in the launch of games or something like 'exceptionally, until March, day' X ', the game will be suspended from our store... .but, according to some media outlets, the CD's fight with Sony (and that may be mere speculation) is more profound. And all of them, be they platforms or PCs, could be tested before ...

It's obvious you have an issue with Sony and can't be logical because of your bias. I can't stand Sony for many things to numerous to list, but they're definitely NOT a monopoly. They have free-market competition, you're able to support any software platform you like and they compete with others for everything from raw materials to employment.

I've been banned from the local Sony store for loudly pointing out every garbage product they've made and telling customers to Google how often they've been in supreme court. I don't like Sony.

As to why they pulled Cyberpunk 2077 from the store, they can. It's their marketplace and they can delist whatever product they like. I don't agree that it's unplayable, I've been playing on ps4. I do contend it's unfinished and the writing is sub-par.

You don't like Sony then be realistic and don't make things up. Same for everyone supporting CDPR blindly, dismissive of any and all complaints. Frankly I don't like this game in its current state, I see potential for a great game, but I don't see it being made into one. Would absolutely love to be wrong, but people are lazy and this game proves it. Integrity loses to profit always.

Another characteristic of monopolies, in my view, says something like this: everyone celebrates profits, but not everyone is engaged in solving problems and the 'rats, when a ship is defective, are the first to abandon it adrift. '.

But, that is just a point and a view. Sony could, yes, have tested the game, including its gameplay and use the same criteria for other games that failed, and spoke hard and that are still in their stores ...

In a sense, the OP has a point.

Sony and Microsoft (and others) have a literal stranglehold on the entire game development industry. And I, for one, am pretty damned sick of it. Why should I, as a PC gamer, be subjected to arbitrary restrictions in the games I play that console gamers are? Because the freakin' console manufacturers say so? If a game can get through ESRB ratings for a PC, then the console companies should allow whatever falls within the confines of those ratings.

So Sony or Microsoft get to dictate what content I can play on my PC, just so the company that built the game can sell it on their platform without ANY consideration for what the ratings systems actually allow based on the rating the game receives? Because some irresponsible parent might buy the game for their kid? And why do I have to suffer with a shit control system for my mouse and keyboard, so some jackass can have a better time playing with his controller?

The dev industry shares it's own bit of the responsibility as well. Stop being so damned cheap, and dev the damned games for individual platforms. They're BUILT on computers anyway. So build them that way, and THEN strip them down for the consoles AFTER they're released fully featured for PCs. The console companies don't even dev their OWN console exclusive games on the hardware they make them for. They dev them on COMPUTERS, and then PORT them to their platforms.

You want a full featured game? Buy a damned PC. When I want to play stripped down, hollowed out games, I'll buy a console.

A good alternative to this would be to launch on just one platform, RD2 did it, if I'm not mistaken, and even so, even though acting cautiously, it had problems when they launched on the PC. Today the game is very good on all platforms. I think that will happen too, at least it is my wish, with CP.
