Thanks again Licaon_Kter
the newer Miles Sound Tools have the files that brake the game, so the answer is NO!

I believe I read somewhere that the game ONLY supports EAX4 and if my sound card does not meet that spec I need to use the next setting lower in the game options. Is this true? Thanks.

if no support is available you just won't be able to activate EAX

Well, I have to confirm that those files WORKED!!!Still this game won´t SAVE EAX settings even if it shows that EAX is on...have to on/off always.I wonder......Witcher...Enhanced edition...v1.4.....has still...EAX problem!! How is THAT possible?I thought this game was updated and enhanced..I assumed that after a long patching this game will technically shine like a sun....noooo

Something funny. I tried the fix 'cause I wanted to see if it'd make that high pitched sound during meditation go away (I didn't have crashing issues as I used the .dll another user upped - from COD4 I think). Well guess what, the game now crashes on startup. Good thing I kept a copy of the Miles folder...

do try to replace only some files, not all, mainly msseax.flt and msseax.m3d[/QUOTE]I would, but the zip provided has only msseax.flt which I replaced (only that) only to introduce the start up crash. Are you aware of that high pitched sound problem during meditation? If yes, replacing both msseax.flt and mssea.m3d solves it? Again, if yes, can you up 'em both please?

I will and I'll post results. EDIT: I didn't need to do that, it seems. I disabled EAX and the sound stopped. But without EAX surround sound is also disabled so I'm guessing EAX support is seriously bugged. Any suggestions?

It almost sound like the exact problem I had, which I wrote about on the previous page. I'm, however, using Windows Vista which means that I have to enable EAX through a little program called Creative ALchemy, which add a few files in the installation folder of the game. I changed the buffer for The Witcher, in the ALchemy settings, to 5 and that solved the problem. Maybe there's some way to do anything similar on Windows XP (which I guess you're using)?

Although the subject is SOUND or EAX problems I see most posts are re EAX. My problem is different. I have an ASUS P5k-e MB with Soundmax from Analog onboard. Sound was fine till the EE upgade. Now whenever I move Gerald even one step ingame I get this very loud annoying "bonging" sound. The only way to get rid of it is to turn down SFX to zero which of course destroys the immersiveness of the game as all SFX are now off.I have the latest ASUS SoundMax drivers. I haven't heard of this problem anywhere on the forum but am hoping someone has a solution. Help! :-\

Yes, if you weren't having problems before the patch with sound issues and you are now, try the fix in the first post of this thread.

I initially had the same problem with crashing as everyone else... after trying a few things (removing the Miles subdirectory and then re-adding the 1.3 versions) I got into the game.... however I now have a problem where only the SFX will play... the music and voices do not play. Anyone else having this issue? I tried lowering acceleration back to Standard, however that doesn't seem to do the job... (I'm using Realtek HD Audio onboard sound)

Good news.. after doing a reinstall of the game + patch.. and then applying the downloaded patch from Licaon_Kter, I think my sound issues are fixed.. I now have music again. FYI for anyone that finds themselves in this position.
