Ya for some reason this game requires Windows Sound Effects to be "Enabled" for audio to work properly. What a terrible design. I've always had audio processing effects turned off in Sound Settings. But Once I enabled it and disabled all the random enhancements audio working fine now in Cyberpunk. Fix your game CD.. We now know the cause of this problem. Better be fixed next patch.

That.

CP2077 is the only game in my giant library that requires those Windows 10 audio enhancements, which I permanently remove from my OS with PowerShell commands. I have my own hardware-based audio system for processing positional surround sound, which physically surrounds me without any need for software-based virtualization. I am not going to re-install Windows 10 just to make a single game happy.

The game supports Windows 7, which does not have those virtualization enhancements that Windows 10 has. Therefore there has to be a way to make the game work without audio issues without those enhancements on Windows 10...

Let's give something a try, I made a tiny .NET Core generator that should make a EnableSoundEffects.reg file that toggles on sound enhancements for all active audio devices (both digital and analogue, should in theory work for non-Realtek codecs as well):

EnableSoundEffectsGenerator.zip

drive.google.com drive.google.com
Just run (no admin rights needed) and you should see a EnableSoundEffects.reg file appearing next to the EXE file that you need to import (by double clicking) and then restart the PC.

In my case this is also not a working solution

Just got a call from River Ward and there's no audio from him before going into the animals warehouse. Similar thing happened with Wakako when I asked for the specs on the side mission "Sinnerman" It was an awkward silence and then I get dialog options.

It's happened with Johnny as well and seems to be sporadic in the game effecting main jobs, side jobs, and gigs.

Just some of my ongoing audio issues at the 125th hour of playing and each of these issues has persisted since i started.

Some info: i play mostly with bluetooth headphones, but have tried plugged headphones + my tv + soundbar. Most of the issues exist across all devices, but are very strongly noticable when playing with any headphones.
I am also playing on a newer PS4 PRO (version 1.05).

- Almost all audio for the most part of playing seems to be reversed = if enemies are ahead of me, the sound comes from behind me and same goes from left to right.

I have tried changing in game audio settings and have tried numerous different headphones and this issue persists. Any NPC dialogue & weapon fire is more greatly effected by this issue and can be very distracting as i often believe enemies are approaching from behind, but is never the case.

- Music Volume for any / all radio stations fluctuates for any / all vehicles. In order to have the proper level of music volume i often have to exit and re-enter vehicles one, two or three times. Also at times i have to switch to 1st person mode in the vehicle + exit & re-enter and then switch to 3rd person (very annoying after 100+ hours).

- Audio often cuts out completely (music / fx / dialogue) and then pops back in... Very jarring and distracting from what is going on around you.

- Music audio in general seems low in regard to Radio Stations in vehicles. I have lowered other sound settings + kept music at 100 and maxed my headpones or TV... Considering that the music in your game is by far one of the better factors you currently have in game, it seems odd that this is even an issue we should be dealing with..?

- Lastly (more of an NPC animation issue, but directly ties to an audio issue) is that NPC's either do not move their mouths during spoken dialogue or have zero facial animations at all or the audio is out of sync with lip & facial movement.

This is IMMENSELY an issue involving any form of immersion & immersive gameplay, at first humorous and then as mentioned = after 100+ hours has only become an annoyance 😳.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and truly hope some of you at CDPR are the indivuals in fact reading this and many others accounts/ experiences with what in my opinion is such an AMAZING game, just mired so far down by it's current issues and overall feel of things being unfinished.

I truly hope one day the game will be at the point everyone at CDPR imagined it would be + worked very hard to create & most importantly = the game you consistently informed us it would be.

Here's another approach, should help a lot of people with missing sounds issue.
1. Download APO Driver: https://mega.nz/file/boBikbCJ#hhpOTc7zOxPEi2zasEaRgvjliU63uVCvjFQPd5t6o9s
2. Install it with only "FX Configurator" selected (nothing else needed).
3. Run "FX Configurator" from the "APO Driver" folder created in your Start menu.
4. Select your audio output device in "Endpoints".
5. Uncheck "Disable all Enhancements".
6. Press ">> Restart Windows Audio Service <<" (at the bottom of the right-most panel)

Done.

I seem to have a different sound issue, than most people are experiencing. It's not the cracking issues caused by a too high sampling rate. Instead it's like static or something like that where the main menu music should be playing. It appears only after loading into the game, then enter the main menu through ESC or any menu (inventory, map, etc.).
Tried pretty much all the workarounds for sound issues I found, without success. Apart from that three different sound devices... PCI-E Soundcard Soundblaster AE5, Onboard ASUS STRIX B550, HDMI through RTX 30 series. Checked gamefiles multiple times.
Someone on reddit showed me this video where the sound is bugged the same way (Time 01:08:28):

It should play the main menu sound, as he said:

It is very annoying when reading docs or just menuing. I have to fully mute my sound via keyboard when the sound is bugged like this...

The sound problem is found.

So I'm with Creative ZX everything else than my Speakers output is disabled and I have Realtek on the mainboard that I use for my microphone. If that has some relation to the problem. But I doubt since this thing is happening to some consolebois too.

Quest VO, my gun sounds and the ambient sounds are coming through my Speakers output (Headphones) in my case. Everything else is going through SPDIF output. When I enable to check SPDIF output there's a lot more action going on in areas with lots of traffic I see 5-6 green lines all the time, while my Spakers output shows 0-1 green lines.

Same thing can be seen when talking to Yoko. I can hear my voice through speakers, but her voice is going through SPDIF.

On the Realtek output there's nothing.

So the game somehow is splitting the sounds to different outputs on the card is being used. I don't use SPDIF so I can't hear the sounds but I can see the green lines on the output.

Any suggestions or just waiting for another patch?

Just check your other outputs Yoko's voice is split at some other output you have on your soundcard.

Not sure if it's a bug or intentional, is there are no sounds when you eat or drink items. I hope they're added later because sometimes I can't tell if I consumed the item due to the lack of an audible cue. Plus it helps with the immersion.

Just to add another bug into the mix: If you use 5.1 DTS Interactive / Connect with optical SPDIF output, the game will only render 2.0 stereo mix. Probably a capability detection problem, as most optical outs only support 2.0, and the DTS Connect (like Dolby's own Live) requires an extra license.

yeah but ive already solved the problem just today!
ive switched in the windows 10 sound settings [device properties] the surround sound from off to on and back to off, this actually solved my problem.
ive played after this with no problems over 2h.

I am playing on PS4 PRO and have different audio issues. A large amount of the time audio that should be generated infront of me is infact coming from behind me and the same goes for left / right (if that makes sense).

It seems like audio channels are reversed and i have tried changing through each of the audio settings and have tried 3 different sets of headphones and just coming from my TV.

It is noticeable in all aspects, but most prevalent when using headphones and can be VERY distracting when in combat and i believe enemies are approaching from the opposite direction they are actually due to the audio issue (i now check map/radar more actively), but this is still an issue.

I also suffer audio issues when it comes to radio stations music levels in all vehicles. The music volume tends to lower alot and is only fixes by exiting and re-entering the vehicle (sometimes up to 3 times). In some occasions i have to switch to 1st person in the vehicle + then exit + re-enter and finally switch to vehicle 3rd person... All in order to get the radio to play at it's proper level :(

Another issue i have frequently, is whenever i pause the game or i am in my inventory menu, i have low level feedback in the background and can also here low level audio quotes from NPC's and at times laughing (the last one is very creepy at times).

Lastly, another big and prevalent audio issue is audio lag for most things involving combat with guns / melee / grenades for my character at times (not all the time, but often enough). The video doesn't suffer any lag, but the combat audio seems delayed after any action for anywhere between 0.5 - 2 seconds which can be very jarring at times in the midst of combat.

Hoping CDPR is aware of yet even more issues with this game. Truly do love aspects of it, but the more i play the more i notice long on-going issues i use to easily ignore in the start and even worst = brand new bugs and issues that pop up throughout progression. Still having fun, but getting alot harder to look the other way or completely ignore the various present issues.

I feel the Devs at CDPR have a true and dedicated passion involving this project and creation that in all honestly can be very amazing at times, but needs alot of work both involving bug fixes + performance & most importantly the overwhelming feeling you get after 125+ hours that many aspects of the game feel unfinished + half finished or worst not added at all. I will remain patient and hopefull CDPR won't abandone it's game and it's reputation.

I'm on PC with the latest patch installed. Is anyone else having the following issues:
- very often audioclips fail to stop playing after you leave the location or cutscene, they loop forever
- dead enemies keep playing barks
- NPCs keep repeating their barks as long as they are around, even mid conversation or cutscene, also while fights are in progress
- Companion NPCs say completely random things. While heavy gunfights are in progress they for example tell me to be careful not to get detected.

This is really immersion breaking...

Been running into an issue on PC. Every time after an hour or so of playing, the audio will begin cracking and popping until it drops out completely. The game begins to stutter if I continue playing. I have to restart the game and my audio device to play again; only to experience the same issue. I've tried different troubleshooting methods such as, turning down the sample rate, changing audio devices, re-installing software and drivers, with no luck. This seemed to happen with the latest hotfix as I was able to play with no problem before it.

Anyone experience the same problem? Any fix? I use an external DAC through USB. I don't have the same problems on other applications.

Lemme know, thanks.

THIS! Everything worked fine for >70hours but today I noticed the same static/white noise linked in the vids above everytime I'm pressing ESC. Problems occured without anything changing on my end. Same PC, same headset, same patch, same playthrough. BUT thats not the only sound-problem appearing out of nowhere:
- Loud background-static noise while reading logs
- Loud background-static noise while having the ripperdoc-window open
- Loud and low quality sound-effects in menues.

Reloading/Restarting the game doesn't help, neither does changing your sound-settings in windows. The only thing that helped was disconnecting my headset and playing with boxes.

I can see everyone writing this but no one giving a fix, how come some players don't have these kind of audio bugs?

My audio keeps missing then maybe replaying after like delayed audio, when I shot when someone speaks when music pops up, sometimes the music doesn't even stop.
