Yes also lots of big events, like **SCRIPTED** car impacts and other scenes where some major destruction or impact takes place, there is just no audio - like not at all. I understand when audio is missing in the random open world interaction, but in scripted scenes? I expected those being more under control of the devs. I'm also experiencing other examples, like V's footsteps are missing on 70% of surfaces. I don't mind tip-toeing like an absolute ninja, but...

Doing the first voodoo quest and the npc i'll be standing in front of will have the audio act as though i'm across the room. once we go outside it's impossible to hear

Ya for some reason this game requires Windows Sound Effects to be "Enabled" for audio to work properly. What a terrible design. I've always had audio processing effects turned off in Sound Settings. But Once I enabled it and disabled all the random enhancements audio working fine now in Cyberpunk. Fix your game CD.. We now know the cause of this problem. Better be fixed next patch.

I don't have "Enhancements" tab in my Windows sound options either, which is probably true for all Realtek UAD, also known as "Realtek(R) Audio", that needs "Realtek Audio Console" installed separately from Microsoft Store.
It was the legacy "Realtek High Definition Audio" driver, which had a control panel software included, that had that "Enhancements" tab in Windows's Sound options, if I remember correctly.
As for the UAD drivers, I have it in Realtek Audio Console, I unchecked that box and restarted the audio driver via "Device Manager" (or just restarted the PC, same result) to work around this issue:

Still, it's bizarre, those effects should have nothing to do with the game's audio.

P.S. If I remember correctly, I also managed to get the missing sounds to work properly with Windows' generic "High Definition Audio Device" driver by uninstalling the Realtek drivers and restarting (that way Windows switches to the generic driver) and then I had the "Enhancements" tab in Windows sound options, where I had to make sure that "Disable all enhancements" is unchecked, and if it is checked, then uncheck it and restart the audio driver or restart the PC (important step to make it work).

Unfortunately, it seems the "Disable All Sound Effects" fix doesn't 100% work.

After playing for a while, some sound effects remain, like the radio, but some go away, like footsteps, shower and ambient music.

Not necessarily, the game has a lot of sound issues, I don't hear shower sound either (only the moment when he turns the water on or off, no sound during the shower). This game is just very much broken on every aspect. I literally found bugs in almost every mechanic in the game.

I would also like to figure out how to make sound work properly...
I have a i5 9600k, 2700rtx, 16gb ram, game runs 60fps with no issue (mostly), except for the sound...
I have zero ambiance or music in any clubs, world tv and radio also make no sound... most random npc are ultra quiet...
I am using nvidia hdmi output to display on my tv so that might be the problem.
My son playing on an older 8th gen i5 laptop with a gtx1050 does not have the sound issue at all weirdly!

EDIT : Seems like the game REALLY doesnt like enhancements! I have been using "Loudness Equalization" (aka Normalize) for so many years now... and if i remove it, the audio range makes pretty much any video or movie unwatchable... but clicking the "Disable all enhancements" actually fixed it for me! (where as the Equalizer APO didnt work)

Posting this here since this is the mega sound issues thread.

At some point in my game, all radios, both in the car and the red and orange world radios that spawn around the map, simply stopped playing. All radio stations were muted, and radios occasionally showed the "No Station" icon instead of the icon for the different stations even though the names for the stations were displayed next to the icon. This occurred on all radios: the red one in V's apartment, orange and red ones that spawned for quests, and the radios of every car. Reloading the game, restarting my computer, and sleeping in V's apartment did not fix the issue.

My suspicion, based on the timing, is that when I was driving Iris' truck in the gig No Fixers I turned off the radio to listen to her talk, and this somehow broke all radios when the car despawned or left my control after depositing it at Dakota's garage.

I was able to get partial radios back after about 6 hours of playing by running to a new NCPD crime encounter, saving the game next to a radio, and reloading that save after cycling through all the radio stations. Now I can access all the radio stations you get on the portable radios, which is everything except Royal Blue and Samizdat. When I choose these options on the car radio nothing plays.

About ~80 hours into the game:
At the end of the I Fought the Law quest, I noticed that every time I moved, I heard a jangling noise (it seems to be the same sound effect as moving through the bead curtains in apartments in the game). The noise follows me wherever I go. Saving and reloading does not resolve the bug.

EDIT: Fixed by quitting and relaunching the game.

Playing with the PC, I have the music turned right down and the radio right up but the radio is muted. I'm only getting the subtitles from the radio. I put the music up then I can hear the radio.

Don't hear sounds at all, or very muffled, from TV, radios, NPCs. Can you fix this please?!

I don't use headphones, I am using a 5.1 sound system. The only real issue I seem to be having is the left and right channels (rear speakers) seem to be reversed. I've gotten used to it and now I know if I hear a sound coming from my left rear speaker, I look to the right side instead.

There are also times when the audio sounds like it is in a tin can, all audio. I don't know why, but I have learned to save the game and then restart, audio goes back to normal.

There doesn't seem to be any 'spatial imaging' as such with the audio either, example, a car goes by and I don't hear it going left to right, seems to be mostly mono audio. I checked my settings and that seems to be fine, have no clue.

Wonder if anyone else has experienced similar problems. I am playing on PC.

Hi everyone. I encountered an issue similar to this (clickable). After a quest (I don't remember which one) there was only a sad background music which started playing during the quest (like a "special sound" of this particular quest). Seems like the sounds didn't properly reset to normal after that.

Symptoms:
  • radio (car's or in the world) is completely muted;
  • radio functions as normal (turning on/off, switching stations) but no sound;
  • (!) if you load an earlier save file (or start a new game) everything's fine;
  • (!) if you load back to the last save bug is returned.
Solution:

This means you need to encounter a situation which triggers a "special sound" aswell. Usually it's a quest. Like a big well-designed main/side quest, not just a small one or a random street stuff.

I just did Johnny's side quest "Holdin' On". At some point there will be a person playing a guitar (special sound). After that sounds reset to normal and this fixes the radio by disabling the bugged "special sound" from your previous quest.

Cheers.

So since 1.06 I've noticed none of my side quest phone calls have audio or anything. It's not just audio either, the Fixer on screen just stares and doesn't talk so entire segments are skipped without subtitles or anything.

I've tried reloading saves, reloading the game and everything. If it comes down to needing to do a new game, I just don't care enough to bother. There's not enough here with this game for me to do that.

Hi! Just started playing CP2077 a few hours ago and noticed many bugs with my audio. Chose the Corpo lifepath and noticed the first bug on the tutorial at the club with the music not playing and dialogues not hearable. Restarted it and could hear the random npcs but music still off, soon after when the shootings starts it's all blankd. My firing is there and I can hear it, but nothing from the enemies and no soundtrack in the background at all. No idea where they come from and no noise at all...

Idk if I should make another thrend, but another glitch was regarding the fight in the rescue. By having hacking activated while checking the first body. It gets stuck in it, can't holster gun or shot or leave the hacking mode, had to restart from save file

There's more than that. There's no Legacy or Southpaw stick layout in the controller settings

Want to jump in with the no sound effects when breaking glass windows... Did anyone find a fix for that or is that something I should hope to be dealt with with later hotfixes or patches?

I had the same problem. It wasn't the game's fault. Recently connected VR headset were a problem. After disconnecting them and restarting the game, the sound repaired itself. I suppose other devices can also cause such problems. I hope that it will help at least one person. See you in Night City
