So, I will probably regret this, but I've had an afternoon of random ideas and nonsense.

This comes with some caveats:

1: This my opinion/perspective based on the Panam ending. Its the only one I have played thus, the one I feel confident talking about. I'm not saying this is how it should be/would work/is really super good. Just a little fun to get other views and endings maybe.
2:This is an overview of random ideas and such cobbled together. it is not a detailed step wise plan lol.
3:This probably will have plot holes and ambiguous elements. What you reply is up to you, but being somewhat constructive is more fun than bashing it.

So open as V in the Aldecaldo camp, doing whatever. You hear Panam shout you. You turn around an see Panam heading for you, but her, mitch and some of the gang went on a transport gig, they aren't due back until tomorrow.

"V, we need to talk. This way"

You see Mitch in the background telling people to start packing up and get ready to move. What happened on this gig?

You follow Pan to your tent, Mitch close behind. She tells you when they got to the pickup, the client was waiting but with no package. The client said they ha a message instead and they thought V would be there, Panam has to be the messenger. Apparently after destroying Mikoshi and bankrupting Arasaka, a single small subsidiary stayed on records and that a few weeks after Mikoshi, Hellman suddenly appeared on its payroll. The client admitted they didn't have all the deets, but word in the city is a new Biochip which might well be of interest to V. No reason to believe any of this, but the client pays you for your travel and says all you have to lose if its's not true is a couple of days and a trip down memory lane.

You return to Badlands and head to NC to see Rogue (return of old faces), the clients 'go to' for the info. You get directed, no doubt after payment, to this Arasaka subsidiary that looks more like a Tyger Claw drug house. Enter the building to find an ambush, knock out. You awake and who is sitting in front of you but Hanako!. Cut to the meat-Arasaka was working on a prototype lifetime Biochip/Engram with much greater synergy with host and capable of mitigating all but the smallest of host rejection. During the Mikoshi/bankruptcy they hid away whatever resources and finances they could to continue with the new chip. Why? Because V's situation is not as unique as we thought, as despite the familial match, Saburo's consciousness is being rejected but his sons body giving him only months to live. Hellman heard of the prototype and Saburo's fate and contacted them to help. However he disappeared a yesterday with the prototype and the blueprints. Hanako knows where he is but he has the hand of Kang Tao and the VDB, and with their current resources they cannot tackle such people. The offer is for you to retrieve the chip, thereby saving Saburo. The chip is not commercially ready but is 100% functional. With the means to produce more chips in place, Hanako guarantees you will be provided one, turning 2-4 months into 40-60 years.

Skip to finding Hellman, either directly or through missions. He has been working with Kang Tao all along, a double agent of sorts, monitoring Saburo. When it became obvious the chip actually worked, Hellman was ordered to retrieve it. By withholding the chip, Kang Tao guarantees Saburo and Arasaka and crushed once and for all (Kang Tao have become fond of being the new super power in Arasaka's absence). He says the chip will save Sabura but also such advances will signal the resurrection of Arasaka as the corpo super power. He tells you Hanako has not been transparent: there is no blueprint for the prototype, lost like many resources in the fall of Arasaka/Mikoshi, so it cannot be reproduced that quickly. More so, it is a self-contained unit, copying the consciousness upon insertion and injecting into host upon reinsertion: A single use Biochip.

From here maybe two routes: stick with Hellman who says Tang Kao have no real value in the chip beyond stopping Saburo's survival, so If you bring them Saburo to have a chat with their 'acquaintance', you are free to take the prototype for yourself.

Or you return with this info to Hanako who tells you the blue print for the chip is actually contained within the chip, it can only be viewed if inserted into a host. Without the chip, Arasaka cannot make another for V. She is honest that it is key in Arasaka being reborn. Why choose V and not a local merc? Because not even the most desperate of mercs will help save Saburo and resurrect the despised, greedy inhuman entity that is Arasaka, regardless of the payout. V is the only one who has something more valuable to gain than eddies, Life.

Little links back to saving the man and company who indirectly put you where you are, and whom you assisted in bringing to it's knees, in exchange for life. Sort of happy, but still corpos always win. Hellman path opens up VDB involvement, who shafted you at the first chance for their own gain last time, who says they won't again? Kang Tao 'acquaintance', Alt, The AI super power who mislead you into helping her destroy Mikoshi, only to send you home on borrowed time.

Look forward to the comments:rolleyes:lol. Just something to ease the sadness maybe, inspire someone else to throw in their own 'ideal' version.

To be honest i'm very glad that no ending is another clicheish happy ending where all turned out just fine. Cyberpunk itself is a very nihilistic and dark approach to sci-fi and it seems fitting to me.

Tho I must add..
..I went for the Nomad way with the Aldecaldos & Panam's help (romanced btw) and after all the uncertainty, stress and loneliness that NC transmitted me every day, that whole final "act" + ending felt a lot more positive than I expected seeing how bad things were turning for my V and the very small number of people he had around. Bittersweet, but mere months of life left (in theory...) on the road, free, accompanied by your lover, etc.. i don't know, i can imagine far saddest ways to go.

No, Soulkiller just kills V and makes a copy, and the copy is what leaves with Panam. There you go, I fixed your bittersweet cliche ending problem, now you know they're all the grimdark cyberpunk deserves to be. Enjoy.

No it's bad because it doesnt give the player a choice, choosing the way you die is not a choice, it doesnt change the outcome. Choosing to either live or die IS a choice.

Could you link the rundown of 35 - 60? I missed it and wouldn't mind getting up to speed. Maybe you could add a link for the first one too, for those that missed it. Thanks! :)

To anyone saying that the ending should be nihilistic because this is cyberpunk, do you know how the friendship with Johnny ending goes? It still ends with either dying in 6 months or assimilating with Alt, however just before that...

You march into Arasaka, one of the biggest corps, alone, kill dozens of men in the lobby, alone, take an elevator down to kill dozens of more men, robots, and mechs, alone, march up to the core to fight and kill Adam Smasher, alone, none of V's friends have to die in the finale, and finally you upload Alt who ultimately spells doom for Arasaka.

Granted V still has a bad outcome in these endings, but is this John fucking Wick ending compatible with the grimdark nihilistic world of cyberpunk?

Sorry, I should have been clearer. This isn't exclusive to the romance, obviously if you have done all the Panam side quests, you can ask her for help in the final mission, whether you have a romance with her or not.

*EDIT*Solid point that it would be nice as female if you could take your romance along with you and the Aldecaldos in such a scenario

Yeah but my romance doesn´t wanna leave the city, because his family is there and he feels he would run away from his responsibility to take care of them. so it´s the whole nomad thing, that makes my interest crash entirely.

If you want to play the blame game, then yes, it was the devs who are to blame, because they had an agenda and they forced it through the narrative. Rather then giving the player (as V) the option about what to do with the chip, despite the fact that V is given offers from both Dex and Evelyn (and could have even found others if she was looking for other options - such as Meredith Stout, for example), we are forced to take it to Dex (despite how silly it is considering we HAD other offers - why give the offers at all if we can't make a choice?), and he shoots V, activating the chip. Neither the player, nor V, could have anticipated that happening, and even if they could have, again, they had no choice to take it anywhere else despite the offers on the table. And that there is exactly the point. We are NEVER given the choice, because all of this is the devs using their god-tier powers to manipulate the story how they want, towards the sort of end that THEY want, regardless of how the players feel or what they might want.

As V, we are only going to be as much to blame as the mistakes we make that the choices given to us can allow us to make. If they don't give us a choice to take the heist job or not, and if they don't give us the choice to stick the chip in our head or not, nor where we choose to take the chip before we're killed, how are we the ones to blame for the outcome?

I could see that you were looking for pure RPG experience, where you are tossed in world to roam it free. There nothing wrong is game is streamlined, and I would call it forced more like plot progression.
I think you summ it up that one group of people wanted pure RPG and other were fine with more streamlined RPG. Cant blame you dude
