Look, I can get onboard with the opinions some people here have voiced.
Yeah, a grimdark ending probably fits best. There, I said it.

It is a dark world and why shouldn't you be the one who gets the short end of the stick in the end?

Hell, take 90 depressing endings for all I care.
For me and the other "children" in here, just give me 1 or 2 different endings, where I am able to field a smile at the end and the feeling of "I have done it, fuck yeah".

Make me work for it. Hard. Require me to complete sidequests, pick the right dialogues. Force me to buy a freaking new ship hull (Hello Mass Effect 2) to reach this ending.

But just allow me to choose my path.

If you do not, fine, I will not play this game again and I will not buy additional content.
I will not run around screaming about CDPR ruining my life or write cringe reviews. The game was way too much fun for that.

But I will be inclined to tell others why I am not satisfied enough to start another save.

That might not even bother you, but looking at the poll, there are a lot of people thinking the same.

A "drive off in the sunset" moment, where you see V in a car driving off into the distance and you hear V say "Back to a normal life"

I good be wrong but I think it's the "happy ending" that's supposed to be part of the DLC, but they accidentally left it in the main game

At this moment the survival of CDPR depends pretty much on earning the respect of the players back, and there is only 2 ways to do that.
A lot of us are pissed of with the sad endings and V always dying, if they want that respect is easy (make some new ending where V lives or dlc to cure V) (have in mind as some said up here, the more people finish the game the more people will want a happy ending and feel betrayed by the devs, few will actually like those endings)
They are already working on fixing the console's performance and fixing all the bugs left in the game in all platforms.
The tricky will be to not get massive lawsuits from the investors ( for that they will need to do fast the 2 points up there).
After all, if you earn back the respect of the customer's that will get more people to give it a second chance and buy the game again when it's fixed on consoles (meaning all market stock of CDPR will go up again and investors won't worry about their money anymore).

The big problem? CDPR is not aware at all that people don't like the endings and time is running.

Is almost poetic how a game of survival has turned reality for CDPR...

(I seriously hope they can turn all this up and fix it all, but at this moment CDPR is the cattle surrounded by wolfs out there hunting them)

I'm sure that a lot of content was cut, so they could release in Dec 2020. When you compare the older trailers, from E3, they teased different outcomes.

Like the trailer about Jackie's death. At the same time everyone got the impression that they spoiled this outcome, because it would only be one of many. And now it turned out that it was a massive spoiler and a part of the story that is set in stone.

Then all the interviews about your life paths and how much of a difference they would make.

Or the trailer where we shred Dex's bodyguard with our Mantis Blades. Another option that was never realized.

During The Heist we can get to the landing platform where Saburo's air car is parked. Inside is a glowing tablet with a quest marker. Clicking it does nothing. This is obviously a leftover from an alternate outcome that was cut at the last minute.

And then the countless plotholes:

Did you notice that Yorinobu Arasaka never sends killers after us again - after the Takemura rescue?

Stuff he must know:

2 guys ran from the building during lockdown and fled in a Delamain.
The chip was stolen from his hotel room

If he adds 1+1 and if he follows a shred of logic, then he would have to do everything in his power to get rid of us, cause we might be witness to what he did. Also Takemura had no problems finding Dex and thereby finding us. Why does Takemura know more than Yorinobu, who has way more resources at hand?

In the Arasaka ending it is stated that we cannot get a replacemant body any time soon, because our neural network and genetics are such a mess after our time with Johnny.

At the same time Saburo could only take over Yorinobu's body, since they are father and son, and thereby a perfect genetic match.

So - question - why can AI Alt transfer Johnny into our body, when a genetically compatible body is required (unless Johnny is our grandpa or something)?

The problem is the main plot quickly writes itself into a very dark corner, with no realistic option possible that undoes the damage V sustains.

The player's situation is written as unsalvageable. Their brain has been half-destroyed by nanites, can no longer survive without the chip connected and any 'escape route' (e.g. creating an engram of V and copying that to the chip, another brain, or the internet, etc) will only rescue a new COPY of V, with tthe original oragnic-brained version still dying.

All roads lead to the destruction of V's 'soul'. The only way around this would be to have a miracle doctor appear who can somehow repair V's brain, reversing the 'artificial dementia' V is suffering from and allowing the chip to be removed plus Johnny's engram deleted.

There's just no way to introduce a happy resolution like that without it feeling like a 'magical' plot twist that breaks the rules of how V's predicament is set up.

In short, the dark endings are just symptoms of a very dark premise. If V's situation had been explained differently - i.e. their organic brain is still physically fine but its autonomy is just being usurped by the chip's connection, then the writers would have had a lot more wiggle room to include happier endings.

In the end, the plot is very similar to The Fly. There's no winning path for Dr. Brundle's original self, only for a viable copy or hybrid that leaves the doomed original behind.

you could potentially find a way to stop the chip from killing V i mean the chip is damaged why not repair it? it doesnt seem like the most copmplicated thing io a world wherew such a chip is even possible to create

I am no expert, but I am not even sure if the launch was that much of a catastrophe.
In the end, the money is paid up front and if you leave out the few people who refunded the game, they probably made tons of cash.

The image problem certainly is there. This would of course influence the reception of future projects like DLC.

What I am trying to say is that I don't see them on a timer here excpet for fixing the performance issues.

I don't hate the endings that much (especially because it looks like in Panam Ending V survive, if we believe the tarots), there is just one thing that feel off... well three:
1) why the fact that V is an engram now is never seriously brought up? We only can accept this, and no one ever point out that Johnny is an engramm (I'm talking about Johnny's friends that treat him as if he was the soul of Johnny)
2) why Panam ending is the only one that is blocked behind the conclusion of some quests? I really don't understand this choice, it feels "off". Yes, it makes sense that Panam help us only if we help her of course, but why all the other endings are so easily reacheable? They could have easily blocked the other endings too behind a quest chain. For example, Rogue could help you only if you make her quest with johnny, or the Arasaka ending is avaible only if Takemura survives. They wouldn't have to add NOTHING to make this possible.
3) Expansions. I would love to play new adventures with V. But a midgame expansion doesn't make sense. V is diyng, the only story that makes sense is one where they try to cure themselves.

Yeah, that's really going to make me want to buy the DLC. A DLC that literally has zero consequence, doesn't help me or aid me. From an RP perspective, what's the point dropping cash on story DLC when it gives nothing.

To add to that, what's the point of the game being made moddable?

some programmers found the "drive off in the sunset" ending and put it on youtube but CDPR had it taken down
from what they said in the video, it's left in the code, and you have to monkey around through the code to find and get it to trigger to activate

yeah, that is the priority right now for them, but they are not aware of how many will still feel betrayed by the endings... that's the thing if you have 2 problems and only fix 1...

I'm sure you have not read anything on what I talked about.
If you google CDPR market stock is like -15% in losing money, and going down even more after the news about investors wanting to lawsuit them...
the whole Sony debacle and people refunds is already a third since the 8 million pre-orders etc etc.
They don't even have an exact number yet but when they say "how basically they have to pay off refunds with their own pockets" doesn't sound good to me.

Im so disapointed with the endings, everyone one of them.
I assume the obvious DLC here is going to be hitting the casino then somehow finding a cure to our busted brain. But I'm still not happy. Breaking it off with Judy just felt so forced and out of character.
