Uh, yeah, of course they killed him to make room for Johnny. It's a major motivation for V that they've just lost their best friend and now have a new one that they may want to die for.
I didn’t pay 50€ for making my own headcanons.
Tho at least this is where game do this right, gives you option to says fuck you, hear him mumbling and you can says fuck you one more time.
Arasaka ending is really rewarding

All the seven ends are really dark and sad. Like really. we need a happy ending.
Edit: What do you think of the alternative endings, all of them are sad, and from what I see that people want at least one a happy one, atleast like a Top secret-Easter Egg, at least to achieve it with legendary clothes and level 50, or at least in extreme hard mode. What would be the best idea to fit?
Would need to be based on background? In all endings, V gets same choice to return to his body at decision point to split with Johnny. But won't die as result.
The Star achievement/Nomad ending: Since V and Johnny are both nomads, the suicide ending is the most logical. The happy ending was V choosing to enter the well to return to his body and earth. Then V gets the selfish choice to make his mark on Night City (via an ascension to the Palace) . Or take the noble route. Leave Night City as a complete unknown the way he came in. Leave with Panem and join his Nomad family. Ride out of Night City never to return. Ride into the Badlands as credits roll. Where he and Panem will spend their lives knocking each other up creating a Brady Bunch. And so will live happily ever after. Very boring but the predictable establishment airy fairy fantasy ending.
The Sun achievement/Street Kid ending: V and Rogue storm Arasaka but Rogue doesn't die. V doesn't die as result of Johnny/Relic as before. If V stumbles across a top secret tech blueprint for a super advanced construct (location which is randomly spawned during the Arisaka raid) then he'll get another special dialog option at the raid end. But only if his relationship with Johnny is high enough (as in the vanilla suicide ending). While deciding whether to cross the bridge or enter the well, Alt Cunningham makes an appearance. She tells V she sensed a unique AI presence in the cyber net within his possession. V tells her about the construct blueprint he found in the raid. Cunningham tells V this construct is the only prototype of its kind in the world. It was being researched by Saburo shortly before his death, in order to prolong his life indefinitely (without further need of other hosts). This was Saburo's plan for the next evolution of the after life as a fail safe for Mikoshi. So it could literally reverse the process of death. Because the person's mind no longer had a dependency on being stored/captured first by Mikoshi's soul killer program. Additionally, that the construct did not require the subject's original body. It only needed very little genetic material to accomplish the resurrection. If a subject's body no longer existed, then only a few nanograms of the subject's body (ashes, decaying tissue etc) was necessary. The construct had nanite tech that could re-clone necrotized cells into tissue, organs, systems and finally restore the entire subject's original body as a living organism.
V has the option to keep this blueprint when he enters the well and returns to his body. But Cunningham warns him that the end result (after restoring the original subject with the construct) could have unpredictable results. She then vanishes across the bridge before V can ask her to explain what that meant.
When V opts to return to their body, they get a side quest to reunite with Judy/River. They get the option to tell them they want to be with them for good or not. If they choose to be with their romantic interests, V doesn't get the negative option. If V picks NOT to be with Judy/Kerry, then they get a quest to visit his friend the Ripper doc. V tells the ripper doc about the construct and wonders aloud if it could be used to resurrect Jackie. Ripper doc confirms it is possible to return Jackie with the advanced AI construct. But he's reluctant to do it because he really hopes V knows what the hell he's doing. Screen fades to black. Then a cutscene shows V holding the now made construct in one hand. Credits roll as he reaches out to touch Jackie's grave with his other hand. And when he does, screen fades to black with credits still rolling.
The Devil Achievement/Corpo ending: V chooses to support Arasaka. V chooses to sign the contract to return to earth. But must agree to having Arasaka publicizing his death in the raid. So V can never contact or associate with anyone in his former life. V must go into exile from Night City. In the Epilogue part of this Corpo ending, you get a cutscene. Saburo-Yoringbu) is lounging by the pool talking business with an Arasaka associate. A boy is playing beside them on the poolside patio of a luxurious apartment. Saburo-Yoringbu gets up and goes inside for a drink. The boy runs over to the Associate and says "Father, is it really true grandfather is really my Uncle? This stupid kid was bugging me about it at school today. So I had my bodyguard kill him for insulting me...." Then the cutscene music drowns out the man's reply as the credits begin to roll.
So as a reward for his personal sacrifice and selfless service to Arasaka, Saburo gave V his blessing to marry Hanako and join his family. Which was a natural decision, because now Saburo-Yoringbu will be gaining a better son (and future potential heirs he can exploit to farm and implant his construct) for the feckless one he lost.
The Temperance achievement/Suicide ending: V agrees to follow Alt Cunningham construct across the bridge and Johnny keeps V's body as before. Except this time, V is instantly transformed into the Merovingian (who's the Architect from The Matrix). V basically becomes the Wizard of Oz in Mikoshi. The ultimate overseer who by default of being plugged into the net, is now irreversibly plugged into Night City via Mikoshi. So he can watch everyone and see/know everything in an instant. Just like the Merovingian. But even in this supreme cybernetic AI form, Mikoshi V lacks the ability to directly communicate with anyone from the afterlife. So his consciousness will never be able to communicate with his loved ones (Panem etc) and friends (Rogue, Ripper doc, etc) ever again.
HOWEVER
Just like the Matrix, the Temperance/suicide ending is the only vanilla/alt ending that leaves the door wide open to further DLC possibilities. As an alt ending, there COULD be a possibility V as the Merovingian, might be able to reach out and impact the lives of Night City denizens in the future. He's technically plugged into the cyber AI net of Night City by default of crossing the bridge. So this would pave the way for future DLC e.g. playing Night City as Rogue/Panem other characters V met in his former life.
But IMO
Very unrealistic expectation IMO. Because that's just the point. This isn't Final Fantasy, Skyrim or any other fantasy RPG trope i.e. typical lowly up and coming PC who is a relative unknown. But is a special being i.e. has been destined by fate to be honed in trial by fire through Mortal Kombat in life. And so must be rewarded for such tribulations in character dev by a peppermint stripped, airy fairy sugar coated ending. Real life humanity is characterized by personal weaknesses. CP 2077 is an extreme manifestation of that.
Unlike precedent fantasy/action RPGs, CP 2077 has distinguished itself on the principle of realism. Cyber punk realm lore and culture is based on realism. Therefore the CP 2077 universe was fundamentally designed to strive for realism i.e. models and imitates real life foibles of humanity.
Because of this, your PC's weakness in the cyber punk universe is super concentrated given the integration of man and IT/machine. Present day characteristics such as empathy and basically humanity itself, has been marginalized (think Royce and the Maelstrom gang here) or completely replaced by (think cyborg Adam Smasher here) non compassionate AI in the 2077 cyber punk universe.
Basically think of what befalls humanity in parallel sci fi universes the likes of The Matrix, Star Trek (The Borg species), and The Terminator. When mankind/humanity is extremely integrated with machines, or completely replaced/governed by machines/ and super intelligent AI. In either case, humans (or what's left of their biological part) have lost their sense of compassion/empathy which is what makes humanity so unique by alt timeline 2077. So it's only logical the endings would be dark.
Spoiler TL DR:
real life is dark as mankind rarely learns from his mistakes. Greed, avarice and the other seven deadly sins tend to outweigh moral scruples. So real life doesn't always have happy endings. The CP 2077 universe is an imiatation of real life, but constructed in a super concentrated form. And made significantly worse due to the integration of man and machine. So the game's endings are as realistic as you should expect.
You know when I heard that Ubi set a release date of Valhalla to be around the CP77, I was like “those guys clearly lost their mind”
Now I’m sadly thinking that they just had insider.
Playing Valhalla is fun with freedom to do what you want how you want, MQ that is unintrusive but intriguing, making not so obvious choices during the whole game, pretty good ending as for this game, open and rich world.
If somebody would tell a months ago on this forum or Reddit board that on the platform that the game works best stats after 25 days will like 40h, 17-20% completion rate, 3,8/5 people would called him/her a troll.

playing this game is also fun but smaller one, and there is always at the back of your head this one thought “if only they finished this game, it’d be a masterpiece”
I think the problem with all the endings being different shades of bad is it makes it feel kinda like replaying is less of a joy. You know it's all going to end in the toilet no l for you no matter what you do so it detracts from the excitement that maybe you can get something better. Kinda reminds me of playing mass effect 3 honestly

No they are not.
They are simply the result of lame writing, cut up contents and irresponsible management.
If we simply follow your reasoning, there is no reason to live because in the end, we all die. So, why bother living ? Why bother struggle for some place under the sun ? Why hope for the best for friends and family ? Why not just simply lie and die ?
Most of the Cyberpunk works have fair endings, if not happy, or at least satisfactory and rewarding for the main character.
You obviously mistake the Cyberpunk view on implants. I will not lecture you about that, there are plenty of pages defining what Cyberpunk is and what is its stance about tech. The only thing I can say is that you're simply wrong. Your judgement is from a morality view (good / evil / where's the spoon ?) when there should be none. Tech is a tool. It has no morality. What is basically about morality are the actions men take. And as such, since none of your action through the game have meaning or impact on the endings, these endings are not the result of your choices but the result of the writing. They do not reflect the world, they reflect the petty storytelling.
Okay in the ending with nomad just Female V with Judy and Male V with Panam has a "happy ending" and can stay the remaining 6 months in case you don't find a cure to spend with your Romance.
Male V with Kerry and Female V with River never have a "happy ending".
You make endings where your sexual option makes you have or not an ending with your romance is something very bad.
I saw on youtube what the ending is like with the 4 romances on youtube.
This is one more reason for me to think that they need to continue the story, why you put romances and straight women and gay men can't have a happy romance is something really bad.
