The game was literally advertised as being about guns, sex, and cars. BuT tHerE iS mOrE tO It

I don't think there is much more too it, just a series of weird questions they poke at a few times throughout the story. It's more to do with a marketing ideology to try to end series the same as they started. (To preserve interest)

Yeah, I thought about it yesterday, that the whole story in CP77 is more about Johnny's redemption rather than V's rags to riches story.

Aaaaaaand even with Johnny I'm not satisfied. Making a quest line about redemption without actually revealing the idea behind the attacks? Ugh... Still imagining what his manifesto would be like.

They only introduced that he blew up the tower twice, and both times had to be about Alt, and even that part (Alt in 2023) I didn't get from the beginning cause it was chaotic and reversed (I mean sudden 2023 flashback without mentioning Alt even once, 15 hours of playing, then 2013 flashback).

This whole game is like a statue dedicated to original 2020 tabletop game and it's fans and players - something like MGS4 was a statue dedicated to the fans and story.

But the point is: this is a game. It's supposed to be rewarding. For new players, that dont know the lore of 2020, too. Im supposed to get the princess at the end and have somekind of feeling, There was none of it when I saw the credits roll.

My feeling when I end it? "ufff.... finally". There was no "oh this is a cool story I feel like after reading a good book" no, it was weariness, tiredness and it wasnt because of the bugs.
This story just isnt good enough. Wasnt fleshed out enough for me to like it and actually invest myself in it. It was like a movie with a bad-thriller ending with a cliffhanger that makes you question what's the point in all of it? Depressing almost.
If that was the goal of the writers then I guess they succeded

To be honest I think it would of been much much better to give you idea of everything to have to play the 6 months with Jackie before the Heist than the what 3min short video. There was people later on that V supposedly knew but I never saw before besides that cutscene and had no idea who the hell they were, yet V was comfortable working/being close with them.

The Heist should of been a mid point of the game, where you Experience Johnny from then on at least.

As a side note, there are many themes that are easier to explore inherently in a cyberpunk universe. But gotta say, my favorite of them all is the ones that make a point of how important is the humane side of humanity by presenting a world so devoid of it because of excessive and unregulated commodification.

Maybe that's why I like the idea of a full "Quiet life" ending with just the most important people for the MC, no strings attached, conditions, or death clocks. In many ways I think the "Blaze of glory" side of the equation was favored, which it's a shame IMO.

Its not a big deal in real life. But if you use the same kind of trick as a writer in the story, it becomes boring and makes you question the whole story. It wasnt just one time. Depending on your choices in the game: it could be 3 times excluding the ending and philosophical debate there.
Sure. Just saying that in response to the "V already died after being shot by Dex so everything else is just bought time" argument. Being subjected to clinical death once is not a reason for V to stop trying to survive.

If we look at Johnny's story as a redemption arc, he ultimately failed, because V is still fucked.

Because if his inability to end arasaka in 202, x because of his cocky behavior, him being a useless playball in a much bigger game, because his girlfriend (he treated like shit) can't safe V...

He failed on so many levels...

In this whole game, I can only see failure.

This gives me a course of action i will follow : Spoiler myself expansions and if they don't fix V I will propably not buy it. It might be end of cyberpunk 2077 for me.
they really should have paid attention to past blunders of others.

the saying: when life gives you lemons, make lemonade.

instead we get this: when life gives you lemons, you get even MORE lemons after that!

Not to mention Johnny's Memory is effed up. His Narcissistic Side, changed his memories at some point. The first one I think from reading was Morgan's op not Johnny's.

To build up on the pile of Johnny's failure.

When you follow the Hanako route, Johnny's failure is even more epic in scope.

He is literally overwriting V with his thought patterns, has the chance to influence V 24/7 and because of his shitty behavior, V sucks up to Johnny's nemesis. Even talking to the man who ordered his execution and even helping him to get a new body.
Johnny is gone, arasaka becomes the megacorp among megacorps and V either dies as an almost legend or litery sells the soul to arasaka.

That's adding insult to Johnny's injury. If he would still be somewhere, he would be so fucking mad and depressed....

Well, 2 meaningless attacks, 1 dead girlfriend, 50 years in Mikoshi, (probably 2nd dead girlfriend in another ending) and V still dying thanks to him aren't enough :)

Btw, the game even messes with the timeline. Had a look at the "motel in Pacifica" quest today (the one straight after talking to Hanako's proxy), and the way the game puts it, Johnny went to war in 2027 :)

Johnny went to war for the still intact USA lead by the big 4 l. He was deployed to I think middle or south America.
Let me check.

Oh and BTW. Something I really hated since my first character meeting the fat gunseller.
That idiot tells us that our .45 was repaired and ready but then the gun we can buy from his shop is a 9mm. We have the .45 in out Mission to safe Sandra Dorsett.

Those are the errors that really suck, because they show that they changed the load out and did not bother to check the voice lines.

What I mean is that V says "the Mexican Conflict?! 50 years ago?" 50 years ago from 2077 Johnny was 4 years dead in Mikoshi.

Just want my imaginary friend to have a proper background story and motivation

It's my deep conviction that imaginary friends must be congruent with their story in all video games and IRL. :ROFLMAO:

According to the source material, he fought in the central American conflict.

And he quit when the USA crumbled.

Shit. The deeper we dig, the more I ask myself what happened to the devs who used to play cyberpunk...

Haaaaa, have a look at this then. My favourite. They didn't even get the names right.

Btw, now I'm even more pissed cause I also found this. Means some of the players get proper lines, and it's a bug that ruins the cutscene (and yet the names are still wrong ;) )

This reaaaally bothered me cause I couldn't understand why V would kick the shit out of J going into cyberspace, and why V would tell J not to forget her in the cyberspace? Obviously should have been vice versa.
