From Alt

I don't know what she want to say by "shredded", but it doesn't seem to be "cool" at all, in my opinion :)
Rogue AIs aside, I meant. She managed to survive as a netrunner, but there wasn't much of the original Alt left after 50 years.

For me there differences between Alt and V.

- Alt is (it seems) the best netrunner Night City has ever known. Having coded the SoulKiller, help to build the Blackwall and taken full (or almost) control of the Arasaka Tower in seconds, I would tend to believe it.
- V is maybe a good netrunner to hack machines / enemies / computer, but as they say, he/she does not play in the same schoolyard.

- Alt wasn't really Soulkilled, she was plugged into doing something at Arasaka. And she "died" when Johnny suddenly unplugged her in an attempt to save her life. It was at this point that part of her remained as AI and "the rest" was gone (and 50 years behind the blackwall didn't help anyway).
- V is a "perfect" copy (with a bit of Johnny), but remains V almost entirely (with all of its humanity). It might be a "handicap" to interact with "artificial" AIs.

So surviving behind the black wall would certainly be way easier for Alt than it could be for V. Well, that's still some guesswork, we will only really know if CDPR offers a sequel where we see V as an engram behind the blackwall (and survive).

Alt was testing Soulkiller on herself while plugged at Arasaka, but she was still connected to her living body and could come back at will. When Johnny unplugged her, the connection was severed. Agree about the rest though.

I think netrunner V could still have a fair chance to survive, depending on what Alt's plans for the other engrams are. It's not clear if V/Johnny would remain whole entities or become part of her, whatever that means.

Having finally played through all the endings, finishing with the Hanako / Arasaka path and finally the 'secret' solo-it ending, I can safely conclude that the only misgiving I have towards any of the endings is that you have to choose at all, knowing that you're excluding several other equally magnificent endings, in both story and gameplay terms. An absolute triumph on behalf of the writers and devs, all endings equally valid, all superbly executed and delivered, as gritty and in your face as NIght City itself. Perfect.

Don't forget the rest of her answer ;)
"Behind the Blackwall dangers lurk, it is no sanctuary. But it’s better to be a free spirit shredded than to wither, trapped in a dying body"
So V could die (or whatever the name) as soon as he/she arrive behind the blackwall, but at least, V die freelly, that what she point out. For a "badass immortal AI", to being shredded behind the blackwall, that seem not to be "badass" and even less being "immortal", for me :)

PS : I never said it's Alt who shredded V, probably more free/wild/hostile AIs (and Alt can't protect V, apparently).

she only says that if V has low intelligence, and thus is assumed not to have netrunner skills. And yes, its not implied to be a place thats good for every body.

but even there, it shows alt believes in freedom. and is less neutral or evil minded than people assume.

Yep, in any case, she's being honest about what to expect if V decides to follow her :)
But the point I was emphasizing was that if V follows Alt behind the black wall, that doesn't necessarily mean that he/she will become as powerful as her, and even less that he/she will be immortal.

That is just a subjective evaluation...

Is this the same alt who does a final death and absorbs the 1000s of people in mikoshi? She lets ONE person go so shes less evil as she destroys thousands?

Non one know what it happen about Mikoshi's engrams. The only thing she says is to create/participate something "bigger".
So not necessarely "destroyed" :)
(and with Johnny's line behind : "As if they could hope for better...")

She says she will absorb them and they will become part of her. Their code assimilated. Kinda counts as destruction in my book.

Hi,

I've been trying to reach out to CDPR for feedback, but this seem to be the only channel I can find. I don't want to write random responses to other threads in order to get my 10 posts I need to create an own topic. I only have one concern and for that I now extra made an account to these forums.

I love Cyberpunk and for me it has the most compelling story I've ever experienced in a video game. No game before had me so emotional at times. It upsets me greatly that it also has the most depressing, unsatisfying ending I've ever experienced in a video game.

I laughed and cried with my V. She lived through the hardest times, being shot in the head, waking up in a landfill, having this biochip in her head that kills her slowly. She saw many of her friends die. She gave Johnny Silverhand redemption, saved his soul, taught him kindness... She has went through so much. I've really grown attached to her character. Yet in the end there is no other option for her but inevitable death. At best all she can get is six more months to live. While Johnnny has the option to grow old in Vs body. And even in these six months she would still be in pain, because her soul is now an intruder to her own body. It's all just depressing as hell.
Why would I play this game again, if it is inevitable that V is going to die in pain, no matter what I do? What's the point?

i think I can speak for a large majority of players who finished the game on reddit and other forums: what we all want is for V to have a way to survive and get rid off soulkiller for good. He/she doesn't deserve to die after everything. It's not fair.

So, the next DLC needs to start where the main story finishes. I can tell you that I personally won't play any more cyberpunk knowing that V is going to die anyway. it's just heartbreaking. So maybe she will survive the casino heist in space and use those eddies to get treatment. Maybe in that special clinic in Sweden that has been mentioned. Or maybe she'll spend time in Mikoshi while Johnny finds her a new body. There's many ways this could end well for her. V never gave up. He/she deserves a reward for the hardships and pain she went through, for her being relentless.
I mean what kind of message are you sending? That no matter how hard you try, you can't escape your own fate? It's a message of hopelessness, of inescapable doom. I do realize the world of Cyberpunk is dark and grim and that's fine. But I would've loved for it to at least end on a positive note. A message of overcoming that gives worth to all the struggle we went through by V's side. it's devastating to find out that there is just no light the end of the tunnel. Honestly if I knew how the game ended I would've stopped playing it at all. I don't care about Arasaka being destroyed, I don't care about V becoming the queen of the afterlife for six months. All I wanted for V is LIFE and get rid off the relic without being killed. And the large majority of players want that. V needs to live. I've played through the game with my best mate and after we've discovered that each possible ending leads to V's death it was an atmosphere like at a funeral. We were both extremely upset and sad. Is that really how you want to leave players behind?

Very much feel your pain. Still remember how much fun i was having when i first encountered the endings. I dislike and disagree with the current all roads lead to death approach. Very much hope that first expansion does pick up and fix the endings. I also hate how the end game re-writes your character depiction/choices based on whether or not you want to kill some nomads so getting to play V post game might at least give me the chance to re-establish my V and their priorities over those horrendous current epilogues.

There have been recent trends where traditional rpg/jrpg had meaningful choices (such as Final Fantasy series) that instead got turned into a railroaded short story. Final Fantasy XV is an example. So bad that the project lead was "encouraged" to quit (in Japan quitting a company is as bad as an Aldecado selling out, as in you will never find meaningful employment at another company again).

Seems the only time good and long stories were given was in a MMORPG like FFXIV. Is it because they make more money from it?

So would Cyberpunk have been better had it been a MMORPG to start with?

Honestly, I felt I had more impact on the story and the ending in freaking AC:Valhalla than in CP2077 and that is just depressing. I didn't LIKE the story, but at least if felt the decisions I made during the main story had some kind of logical impact on the situation.

Heck, your impact on the story of any FromSoft game makes more sense than what happens in the CP2077 finale...

They made a sandbox and then give you a tickling clock to push you to faster resolution. Then the only decisions that matter were doing side quests to get a side on your team and picking which side assaults a building with you.

Then basing your character motivations and throwing them away and implanting other motivators because of who you chose to assault a building with.

When everything boils down to how you assault a building and renders all other things meaningless.... then all your actions in part become meaningless.

I was disappointed that they completely side-stepped the fact that the moment you jack into Mikoshi, the game should end. This whole magically teleporting consciousness is so stupid. Copying your consciousness doesn't teleport you to that neural network, you just die, and a new, completely separate consciousness with your memories gets created but THAT'S NOT YOU. It's like cut/paste, the original is gone.

That's a matter of interpretation. After all, if it's an exact copy, the copy doesn't know the difference.

It was with a lot of disbelief that I saw those endings and realised it was Fallout 3 or Mass Effect 3 all over again. I'm not sure how I'd feel about DLC that isn't post game, disappointed for sure - a clearer resolution with some kind of post-game is sorely needed I think. Story DLC that fails to address either would be frustrating. Hopefully the Star and Sun are as vague as they are on purpose.
