[SPOILERS] End-Game And Suspicions About The First DLC

+
My big concern, if we're assuming they follow Witcher 3's DLC pattern, is that they do story content that is mostly unrelated to the endings. This stems from letting people start the W3 DLC from the game menu, or doing them before completing the Wild Hunt. The precedent hurts the idea of a continuous storyline.
The thing about TW3 is that it is the end of the story of Geralt. They had to close every storyline, to provide a satisfying conclusion in the main game. To me CP2077 is more like a beggining of something, like Mass Effect 1. You stopped Saren, and the Reapers for now, but you know they are still coming. In CP 2077 you get separated from Johnny, and the shared story with him has ended. You survived for now, but the time is still ticking.

Yep but imagine situation where your save got corrupted and u have to start a completely new game just to reach the moment when u can start Expansion, for people who complete 3/4 playthroughs that would be a boring 20 hours to reach the expansion . That's why u can start the expansion from main menu. Plus with w3 the dlc pattern that was completely not related with main story was ok because at the end of w3 the main story was fully complete. There was nothing like "what will happen with my V in 6 months". That's why Expansions could focus on stories not related to main arc. In cp2077 ending is unsatisfying and clearly incomplete at least for me and that's why at least one expansion should be focused on curing V or on the last months of his existence. Also the main story plot was not so urgent in w3. Of course you were looking for ciri but the game wasn't telling you that she is going to die soon if u don't find her all the time.

I think that they don't reveal expansions now for 2 reasons.
1. the game state currently is not too good and there are many things to work on.
2. The first expansion is post story and focuses on curing V- Many People are disappointed with this game, it's kind of love or hate relationship. If the expansion is set to be poststory it is not a good idea to talk about it now. Many people would think that this expansion is in fact content cut out from the game. CDPR image is not too good now. People even roasted them for apology video posted 1/2 days ago. So revealing paid expansion that some people would consider as content cut out from the game( endings are clearly incomplete) would harm cdpr now and also could be used against them in lawsuits(im not 100% sure about it though because im not a lawyer xd) . They have to wait for all this shit to calm down .

IMO
1st story expansion - finding cure for V (continuation of Star, Sun/Secret and probably Devil endings).
2nd and 3rd story expansions - some new stories.

+1 i wonder if we see more nomads. In lorebook the aldecaldos are said to have a few thousand members while in game we can see maximally 100 of them.

Some of the cut missions have been found. More videos like this are on this yt. Only gigs but they are pretty finished. Probably they will be released as free dlc

They said the free DLC are going to be in the same fashion as the ones for TW3, therefore we should expect them to add back most of the cut content (who knows, maybe even car customization and the ability to buy apartments).

The DLCs are gong to be cosmetic (and maybe a cool weapon) and mostly small time gigs.

The expansions are where it gets interesting.

Personally I think the expansions are still in early production.
It really depends, there's so many factors you have to take into account.

1) Are we staying in NC or close to it? (If not that's a whole entire new map), I'm not sure when dialogue is written in the development process. I would imagine they have to have an idea of where something will take place for dialogue to make sense at times. I would say same goes for motion capture. Once again I'm not a developer in anyway so I'm not sure how the development process works.

2) Dialogue (How much do they have to record and who do they have to record?) This is important because if its mid game story content, its in all likelihood Keanu Reeves recorded lines already (Thus meaning its likely well into development).

3) Does the expansion relate to the main story in anyway or is it a completely separate/new story?

4) Did they know this game was going to have as bad of a release as it did way before being released? This is important because if they've known this, its possible that expansions were put on the backburner for a while now.

5) Are we going to be getting larger size free DLC? This in all likelihood won't be the case, but if we do get a lot of "larger" size content in the form of free DLC, it could have taken time away from expansion. I think this is very unlikely for many reasons which I'm sure many of you can think of.

6) The first expansion is already done and they are pushing it back for various reasons.

7) Maybe they want to wait till more people have next-gen consoles, so that many more people upgrade to the next generation version. Biggest reason for this being so that they can say that previous generation consoles won't be getting these expansions for hardware reasons. Its easier for them to wait until late 2021/early 2022 when its likely significantly more people will finally get access to next gen consoles, meaning less criticism because everybody will have a stable version of the game by then.

There are many more reasons that can be said, but hopefully I made my point. There are so many factors that could point to the expansions not even being started yet, mid way throught development, or even possibly even finished. It's really hard to say because we don't know how much was actually cut, we don't know how many hours these DLC are intended to add, we don't know how different it is from the main game/story, we don't know how severe the release was manipulated by the base games release, we don't know the direction of free DLC yet, ect.... So yeah, a lot of different factors.

+1

They have said they record as much as they can so they don't have to bring people back into the recording room. Idk if it's an audio file bug, but there are 2 quests off the top of my head where you can see they couldn't bring back the original VO (or the recording environment changed), so they added in some Godfather "I talked to Barzini" voice over that sounds super jank. The gig where you save the doctor from the fridge (the VO changes voices at the very last sentence), and the Clouds receptionist who's voice tone changes when she explains what floors you have access to. It goes from cheery to monotone then back to cheery.

4) Did they know this game was going to have as bad of a release as it did way before being released? This is important because if they've known this, its possible that expansions were put on the backburner for a while now.

It's speculation... but I think they knew. Withholding the DLC/Expansion content information, after announcing they would reveal it shortly before release, indicates some course-correction so they didn't completely sink the ship. I've said it a lot, but I wouldn't be printing out apology letters, or sending out apology videos, and then extending my hands out with expansion content in exchange for money.

and new game + mode. We shouldn't expect nothing more or we will get disappointed. It's free content after all, in witcher 3 they added 3/4 small quests that took like 2h to complete or maybe even less.
Yeah. If the expansions don't hit like a fucking megaton nuke, this game will go down in history as one of the greatest blunders in gaming history. Even surpassing no man's sky and Anthem.

So. CDPR from the expansion, I expect nothing less than greatness. A story that brings V back from the defacto dead, to safe the loved ones, the fucking block and the boostergangs better shit their pants when it happens. And by the way walks away without a new fucking terminal desease or death.
Pulling it once was questionable, pulling it twice was cringe, pullkng it a third time, should be a punishable offense.

Agree. Finale of V’s story should be grandiose, no matter which ending (Star, Sun, Secret, Devil) we choose. Devs please.

The only reason a post-game story is even a possibility, at this point, is because of how many times Crystal Palace is referenced in-game, the space port, and the fact that Mr. Blue Eyes is basically Armitage/O'dimm.

It would be disappointing to not follow through with at least a short visit to the Crystal Palace.

I dare say the reason a post credit dlc is possible, is the shoddy writing of the epilogues.

But that's just my point if view.

At this point, I guess that 90%of the poeple basically except a post credit dlc or expansion. That the only explanation why they are still so... Enthusiastic about Judy and penam.

This is the one thing I actually don't believe will play a huge part, but it could be that the general reaction to both characters causes the writers to bring them in to the DLCs further (poor Kerry and River).

I don't think Forbes (Paul Tassi) ever published an article about how great Yen or Triss were. So the reaction to her character, and the fact that the Star ending is the most popular, might mean the cogs are turning in the writers room. Plus the Panam Palmer thread has more traction than this one so it really tells you what you need to know.

I think this is spot on... There has to be a reason to tease this location and Mr. Blue Eyes multiple times throughout the game.

I also don't understand why the writers would give V 6 months to live in most of the endings, if not to have the player capitalize on that time by finding a cure in a story expansion. If they wanted a definitive end to the story, wouldn't it have made more sense to just kill V outright by the end? Seems oddly suspicious.

And that's basically my next problem with the whole situation.
People are losing their mind over the love interest and don't see what problems are evident in the actual endings..

Panam and Judy are really well written and deserve more content, the only thing I hope is that they don't get expanded to the expense of everything else. V's story, other characters and choice variety. I like my ending in NC, going against corps and destroying yachts with Kerry thanks, no Arizona life for me

Panam and Judy deserve to be with V in Star ending continuation at least. Of course it doesn’t mean that V stopped being a main character. And Arizona can be just connecting link to Stormtech or Night Corp (if MBE decided to phone V, he has no problem with it). Even in Star ending the key for V’s cure can be in Crystal Palace.

My biggest hope would be that we get an expansion in both Crystal Palace and one in Arizona. So basically an expansion of both the sun and the star endings, they can both have something to do with all this A.I. and Night Corp business along with finding a cure for V. But I think it would be a good way to tie in the 2 most popular endings for all players.
