[SPOILERS] End-Game And Suspicions About The First DLC

+
Just putting this out there. We are everybody is making the assumption that if they add a Crystal Palace Heist, that it will be the only thing added within an expansion. There's a very real possibility that it might only be a small portion of an expansion. Assuming we get a heist in the first place.

The only way they can screw up the expansion experience for me is if it's a side character or some nonsensical Johnny origin story. I like the game to a point where any new content is welcome -- provided that V is central to it.

Middle-earth: Shadow of War did this (side character DLCs). They came as a bundle with the game and I didn't touch them... just terrible.

I don't think they are gonna add a side character, the relationships and time you spend creating, the leveling up process, time gathering guns, clothes, cars. All progress would be thrown away, especially if they release a "New Game+" where you will spend even more time doing it. I don't want to be let down, so I've kind convinced myself post story content isn't happening. I think they are just gonna throw in some mid game content for both expansions, thus why they decreased the relic error animations, so your not constantly bombarded by that. Makes the user feel there's more time left I guess. I think we got 'V' no matter what, its the setting I'm concerned about.

I'm still confused about possible DLC. I am afraid that they probably won't be about V at all. Or it will be prequel / mid game content.

I just see no possible way to continue the story for players who ended the game with V's suicide. And in my ending, I sacrificed the body to Johnny. So the only possible way to continue the story is to pick the ending with returning V to real world with 6 month to live as canon. But it is absolutely shitty decision imho. It will erase every roleplaying experience of players with another ending.
So I don't even know.

Well with the suicide ending V's story wouldn't continue anyway. Like if Shepard dies in ME2. Temperance can still fit alongside the Mikoshi ending though, depending on how they handle V being without a body.

Technically, the suicide ending is not even an ending, because it does not trigger the achievement for finishing the game. ;)

In most games with sequels or dlcs enable all outcomes to be relevant for a continuation. Deus ex flat out retcons the ending decision.

That's not an issue. Especially when only two decisions are made for the endings.

If you haven't finished your first playthrough you'll find a lot of ending spoilers here.

Most popular request: post ending DLC/expansion
Other popular request: more mid-game romance content and character interactions

Nothing announced so far by CDPR outside of patches and free DLCs (which I assume will be minor) -> Roadmap

I'm 100% confident that the DLC will have the option to save V's life. There is simply no way that the CDPR writing team could make such a monumental error in judgement, that not a single ending or path in game leads to V surviving. Bad and depressing endings are FINE. However - if not ONE ending, path or choice can lead to a good ending also - that robs players from any feeling of agency or that their choices matter.

From a writing perspective. This can't be an oversight. Unless they outsourced the writing to Casey Hudson. In which case we're fucked.

1st of all, I really really hope you're right. I have my doubts, never the less I do hope.
2nd That Casey Hudson remark had me laughing. It's funny... 'cause it's true... #stillhaventforgivenbioware #toosoon

One idea that I've seen another game do with post-story DLC that factored in if your protagonist died or not was Dragon Age Origins. In the Awakening DLC if your Grey Warden died during the final mission of the game they would allow you to make a new lvl 20 (lvl 20 was the max in the base game brought up to 30 in this dlc) character to play the DLC with. It made references to all of your choices you made in the base game and even had recurring characters based on your actions.

They could do something similar here or they could just retcon those 2 endings, obviously the latter might piss some people off but it's not unheard of to do such a thing in RPG's. The path definitely lies open for them, just depends on whether or not they wanna take it.

I thought about it too but the problem is that the warden wasn't voiced, here two voice actors would be needed. Unless the story continues with Johnny in V's body (with V's voice)

Ah yes that is true, I kind of overlooked that. I could see them just continuing it with Johnny in V's body with V's voice, but imo that would be pretty lame ngl  Depends if they're willing to take that risk though, or if they are willing to retcon it OR if they are just going to give some short prologue with that ending showing V somehow getting a new body/his old body back.

Geeze, if they would create a post Main Story DLC that only had Silverhand in Vs body... I'd need to lookup some new swear words for that one.

I dare say it's highly possible that they already recorded johnnie's lines.

You don't release a game and start writing the dlc after launch. You can bet that most of the voice lines were recorded before the game had gone gold.

Even if there are additional lines to record, Keanu Reaves' contract would likely have included work on dlc. If not... well CDPR sold how many copies?

I don't know about the recordings, but since they where already set to release their plans on day 1 I have no doubt the DLCs are already set in stone. Whatever they may be. Personally I can only hope that the delay also causes re-evaluation of their plans.

Or at least takes the... Let's say "mixed" reaction to the endings ino account.

If they use that 6 months timer as a plot device, to connect the endings, they can already start the expensions with the solution to this problem. At the moment, no matter if you returned into your body, or stayed in cybespace/mikoshi, you need a solution, like a new vessel. They might start the expansion with V waking up in a new body, engineered for him. This way, they could even let people with the suiced ending continue the game.
