[Spoilers] Evelyn Parker

+
I was very intrigued by the character Evelyn and i liked her the moment ive seen her. I wanted to have more to do with her, but sadly we couldnt.
Now am i mad that Evelyn died? No.. BUT.. i wish we would have still seen more of her.

Evelyn played with fire and she knew (or should have known) the risks. Even Judy told her to take the long way or else the city always gets you, which basically sums her story up.

But like i said, i loved and still love her character and wished to see more of her.

I know this might sound weird for some of you but seriously, why the hell couldnt we have treated Evelyn after she was trapped by Woodman in the first place? We got to put her to bed and all, she was super traumatized for what happened to her. Then what happens? V starts making plans with Judy and leaves the house and then she dies later on. I mean...WTF? Aren't there any BASIC options to treat her or get her to an hospital? We just ignore the fact that she's lying in bed dying and then she cuts her wrists short after? OFC she does, BECAUSE SHE WASNT TREATED  . I accept any kind of opinion, thank you.

For me Evelyn suffer the same problem as Jackie.

As the player doesn't really know them well, their passing are more meaningful to Judy and Mama Welles.

So it relies on V's voice actor/actress to provide emotional depth to the scenes.

If they added some missions with Jackie (instead of the promo youtube video) and some missions with Evelyn, so the player could know them better and become more emotionally attached to them, their loss would carry more weight.

WEll, for Evelynn it was kinda obvious tbh. Getting abused like that you do not want to live anymore and that for good reason.
But I don't really seem to get, how people can not care about Jackie, like for me it hit flippin hard tbh. This guy was my only and best friend and really bites the dust in an kinda awfull way, having your liver pirced is not funny and extremely painfull(it was the liver, wasnt it?)

I don't think most people don't care about Jacky (=they care), but they want to care more and be invested more so his Fate hits them harder. I guess playing out the cinematic intro to night city (the six month gap) would be a "start" , so we also learn and get properly introduced to the fixers and some characters we meet along the way.

Yo... i just watched a video about cyberpunk lore... and it talked about something of an elite escort group of women... known as the sisters.... that very high ups would purchase as like body guards...

Could Evelyn Parker be a "Sister?"

Also, could she be in on the arasaka patrocide... did she set this whole thing up to get her lover an alibi... meaning he knew u were in the wall the whole time!?

*Mindblown*

If you play the Arasaka ending - you get some interesting dialogue with the son that hints strongly at a lot more going on with the heist than meets the eye.

Evelyn's story is a tragedy - and in hand with that is the tragedy of a whole a fascinating aspect to the main story that either was never developed - or dropped.

If you red every computer coms. shards etc... before you even find Evelyn you know she is living a hell nightmare with bad endings everywhere since she got abducted. But Voodoos already fried her brain that s why finger and woodman sold her to the best buyer asap. Evelyn got a dramatic life. she was already having bad episodes you can read on Judy s pc in her apartment. Then she got doubled by the Voodoo during the heist of her life and left almost dead. After this she got sold to the weirdest BD studio by far. One of those you find snuff porn as the main category. And she got used there for a while before you get to find her. You can read multiple example of what the BD studio feature as content and it s the very dark side of this game I swear.

Then you find out that Judy ddid everything possible to fix the mechanical and physical part of Evelyn. The day before Evelyn killed herself. Judy was in touch with one of the best psychiatrist in NC and had a personnal at home appointment for Eve. But yikes Eve commited a bit to early

So to conclude everything happen very well for a situation that should traumatise a lot of people around it. Judy tell in a vocal exchange with V that she saw what they did to her. This is describe on a computer in the BD studio. And yes it explain very well why she is mentally gone forever

If you felt bad for Dex. at least he got the easy way out, she had to live with the worse tortures you can find in 2077 just for the pleasure of people watching and feeling the emotions on a virtu afterward

Railroaded plot where the player has no agency... all .. over.. the.. game

The really sucky part? They put in the game that Trauma Team can wipe traumatic memories. Your V could probably have paid to have Evelyn fixed.

A good use for the money.
Little detail ;)
Sandra Dorsett is Corpo with Trauma Team "platine" subscription.
Where Evelyn have nothing at all... :(

Yep. However nothing prevents you from buying a policy if you have the Eddies in-game, which you might.
Yep, you can :)
I just finished "Double Life" at level 42, so I have enough to pay I think.
But theoretically at this stage, V could be considered to be "poor".
If the game asked you like 300-500K eddies to save Evy, would you pay for it ? (considering, it's in first playthrough without spoiler).

And it seems to me that Judy asks a doctor to come see Evy (paying what is necessary), but he does not even come...
And if you save Evy, Judy might not care about V more than that! For me, for romance Judy, saldy Evy deserve to die (they had planned to leave Night City together...)

If you think about it, Evelyns story is one of the most tragic in the game. Her end goal was for her and Judy to get enough money to leave Night City and live free. Unfortunately she just got tangled up with the worst people imaginable, and tried to cheat them so she could get to her dream a little faster.
Getting involved with the Voodoo boys was the first/worst mistake she made as I believe even had she only recorded the virtue for them, they would of flatlined her anyway as she was the only thing that would of linked Arasaka to them. She's also a bit naïve when V points out that Arasaka will screen anyone who's had dealings with Yorinobu. She says that they will overlook her because she is not important but guaranteed they would of tracked her down eventually.
Hers is a story of having the best intentions, but trying to make them happen in the worst way imaginable.

Gotta admit CDPR did an awesome suicide prevention campaign in this game, with both Ev's death and you know, certain decisions you're able to make in the game. The way it hits you, I saw people with mental health issues change radically the way they think, after they saw the reactions of the NPCs in the game after they experience the suicide of someone close to them.
And "Walking talking corpses", like Judy said. Jackie, Ev and even V died because they tried to eat the whole cookie in a single bite, and they realized too late it was too big and choked to death on it.
I liked her so much and it's a shame they had to get rid of her in such way, but I think she as used as an example. The blaze of glory isn't that important. Being a legend isn't that important, doing the things the easy fast way will always make the city win.

I like a lot this expression. So good, the same as "her goose is cooked" :D

The irony of the Voodoo Boys betrayal is that she didn't betray them MORE. She needed a NetWatch firewall or something or to get herself offline.

I feel ya, OP. Evelyn probably is my favourite character and seems there was absolutely no reason for her demise. The way it happened. It may have had a lesser effect if she was actually killed..
Then the Heist...the plan was solid, but she did make some bad decisions, like someone mentioned, maybe to speed things up, get better deal out of it all. And then went back to Clouds? Why? To raise less suspicions? There was really no way back from this and maybe she should've actually skipped town, like Takemura thought she did.
I miss Evelyn. If there was one of those Misty's tarot cards for her, she'd probably get the Magician <3

I suspect it was a simple case of not having enough money to skip town and trying to lay low from the Voodoo Boys. Sadly, the Tyger Claws firewall was no match for them.

Just a crazy thought...
Could this have anything to do with Evelyn?
When Evelyn dies, Judy says: "Close the door, V".
Could it be possible that Ripperdoc Fingers was able to enter a certain door, and can we possibly prevent that from happening?
