Star Citizen

Nice, little map with some lord tid-bits.

Also, I picked up a Sabre and I'm loving it :D

I thinking about that map, but not sure yet. I have seen that the Tali is on sale again, but it became way more expensive than it was, so I leave it.
More 'Farer stuff:

Are you sure it's more expensive? The Taurus is only $150 USD - that's only $25 more than a Freelancer.

I'm watching a little bit of that video right now, and the Starfarer is jawdroppingly huge.

In case anyone was wondering where all the money went...

Interestingly, we get to learn something about their plans for Squadron 42. It sounds like it's going to be like MGSV on steroids. Basically large sandbox maps with multiple outposts, and multiple ways to complete the objective.

I am in love yet again... I am so tempted to get this. But in order to do so I would need to upgrade my Freelancer which I am not a big fan of. I like the hull so greaking much, and the idea that this ship is degsined for one man, no forced multicrew nonsense at all. If CIG decides to create variants for this, I am totally up for the change. I mean a more exploration focused, and better armed version would be really nice. I am not saying that I don't like the idea of mining, because I do, but I like the looks of the ship soo much that I would want to use it as my main ship. Too bad that is a specialist ship, I would trade my 'Lancer for a better armed version of this without a thought. Smaller guns and lesser rockets and lack of manned turrets would be a fair trade of for a 100% capable solo ship with this size for me.

Speaking of Freelancer, she is shaping nicely. Back in the day, I didn't liked the fact that it was so damn easy to destroy it, now it can take a beating before she goes down. I still don't like the fact that I don't have any spare room for a weaponrack. I want it in the "bedroom", because if someone boarding me, they most likely will come cross either on the airlock or at the cargo space. I am not even sure that you will be able to customize your ship's inside.

Sometimes CIG's shipdegsin in terms of weapons are all over the place. Most of the ships are better armed then my Vanguard, from the start of Gladius, which can have bigger missiles, the Hornets can have way more firepower, not to mention the Freelancer, the Connie, or even the Redeemer. If the Redeemer comes out with the current loadout, there will be a huge shitstorm.

That concept art is amazing. Question: so what is exactly in the release for Squadron 42? Does it include a galaxy map to explore, or is the sandbox element just for online play?

We don't know about too much about this. I belive it won't be just mission after misson, but a bit more sandboxie, with side missions and all, but don't quote me on this one. We will certeanly will know about this more after CitizenCon. I expect more Squadron 42 showcase and possible release date.

We don't know yet. All we know so far is that the single-player missions have large, sandbox levels with a variety of ways to approach your objectives. The general structure of a mission is starting out in your spaceship and moving to ground combat once it's safe to land. Between missions you can upgrade your ships. We don't yet know whether it has a sand-box campaign map, like the multiplayer, or whether you simply move from mission to mission in order like CoD.

I'm pretty sure Squadron 42 will release in three parts with 10 missions apiece. It's hard to say tho because they change their minds from time to time. What we do know is that the first mission in the campaign is 80% - 90% done and several other missions are already in progress.

They holding up lot of mechanics from the PU because of Squadron 42, they don't want to spoil anything from it. For example, the Idris Fregatt is almost complete, if not completed already, they could put ingame, before SQ42 but they won't because of SQ42

^^ I can't wait for the capital ships. I know the Idris is almost finished, and the Javelin Destroyer won't take much longer because it reuses a lot of the Idris's assets (they're both Aegis Dynamics ships). I won't be surprised if both capital ships are finished by Dec. It's too bad that they won't release them before SQ42.

There's also another capital ship in the works that's smaller than the Idris and Javelin. It's codenamed "Pegasus."

What I'm really looking forwards to when they make a "siege" multiplayer mode where one team is attacking a capital ship and the other is defending. It'll be just like the space-battles from Battlefront 2, but better :D It makes sense, too - they need to play-test their bombing ships to make sure it's a fun role.

So, I have a brand new and shining Buccaneer. One could ask me why the hell I melted my favourite ship, which I wanted to own for pretty much the beginning? Well, let me explain, The Vanguard's preformance is hardly were is should be. Currently with 2.3.1 if you go against NPC pirate ships, the Vanguard can take an absolute beating. I tired bot the Freelancer and the Cutlass Black, and those two were not even close. To be honest, I think it is even better than the Super Hornet. So, where is the problem? Well, there is not enought firepower at all. The big gattling gun on the nose? Forget it, barely do any real damage. Not to mention that this ship is so drifty. I am not sure why CIG decided to rush this ship out, but they did, big time. If you look at the new Freelancer, Starfarer, Connie, there have been no compromises. Look at the concept art for the Vanguard, and the "finished" model. See the big difference? And yet, I am already missing her. I came up new "fleet" plans, and for that, I needed a dogfighter, and the new Drake ship is just came in the right time. After payday I will buy back my Vanguard if I can. That is my priority. When it comes up on sale again, I will pick up a Harbinger upgrade and a Warden BUk, and I won't apply the upgrade until I see the variant. This is why I needed an actual dogfighter. I risked my favorite ship in orderd to get a fighter, and I just can hope that I will be able to buy back the Vanguard.

The weird thing about Star Citizen right now is that the only side of balance we see is dogfighting capabilities because that's all there is to do in the game right now. The Vanguard isn't a very good dogfighter, it isn't meant to be one, but it has a whole host of other advantages that don't make a difference in the game right now. Range, durability, modularity, and so forth.

One of the reasons why I upgraded to my Sabre was because the Avenger wasn't a very good in ArenaCommander (at least, not compared to the Hornet). In a weird way, going from an Avenger to the Sabre was almost like a nerf because the Avenger will have more utility outside of combat.

I think when they add more to the P.U. - like more solar systems, and some kind of ship maintenance - you'll appreciate your Vanguard more.

Speaking of my Sabre, learning to fly it properly has been quite a challenge. It's not a ship that can stay in combat and take a beating. You have to retreat from combat, let your shields recharge, return to combat and deal tons of damage, and then retreat again to let your shields recharge. This way you can whittle down a slower opponent over time. The Sabre doesn't fair very well in the chaotic mess that is ArenaCommander, however.

Speaking of strengths again. Two of the Sabre's strengths are its stealth capabilities and advanced radar system - two other gameplay elements that aren't implemented in the P.U. yet.

Anyways, congrats on getting the Buccaneer. As I've said before, if it had been out a few months ago I think I would've bought one over the Sabre. Not that I dislike my Sabre - but the Buccaneer offers similar power for less cost, and I like its aesthetic.

Nice glimpse of the Bengal Carrier. Have to wonder why they showed that off though. IIRC you can't own a Bengal in the MMO. I guess it's their way of letting us know their work on the capital ships is more than just notes in the monthly studio report.

A little disappointed that they backtracked from their promises of monthly updates. Hoping it's just because 2.4 and 2.5 were so big and they'll return to monthly updates later in the year. Maybe it's because employees are taking vacation time during the summer.

Wonder how far they'll get by the end of the year. I know they've been experimenting internally with advanced quantum drive mechanic for warping between planets. Hopefully we'll see more of Stanton system fleshed out by the end of the year. On the other hand, SQ42 part 1 should be released early next year, and then we'll get to play an actual finished product :p
