How do you actually get these cards? I have Bioshock Infinite, Hitman Absolution, Skyrim and which support it played them for a while but didn't get any card. Is it because I bought it long time ago and it wasn't purchased on steam?

Open up your game.

Take a screenshot.

Done.

Normally, by simply playing and I don't think time or means of purchase matter. But I'm not sure how it's determined when you get a card - I played Chivalry for meagre 69 minutes and got two of the cards.

I just bought the Legacy of Kain collection, I couldn't resist any longer. :)
The cards kind of annoy me, but I could sell a few for 1 euro each, which is not so bad. I'm probably going to try to collect the Witcher-related ones because Witcher.

OFF: Nice TBoUT avatar Mohasz! :)

I dont understand why Witcher games are selling for so little. I am not complaining but sometimes price should reflect the quality of the game. Perhaps they are just trying to gain more fans by selling it so cheap. People will always question game that sells for so little.

Picked up Left for Dead and L4D2 for 7.49 . Didn`t have any zombie shooters so I figured what the heck !

BTW Witcher 2 has 8 cards so I figure by playing the game one should get 4 and then trade for the other 4 . Jeez i`ve got 75 hours on W2 just on the Steam version alone .

I can't speak for GMG (or other sites) regional lockouts as I'm in the states. That, I'll admit is the one drawback of the Steam DRM, if you're not in the US of A, things are more likely to get a bit wonky.

Left 4 Dead 1 is superfluous now since Left 4 Dead 2 has all of its maps and characters imported and better gameplay/guns, but it's still nice to have. I recommend you play through all the maps singleplayer in Left 4 Dead 2 to get a feel for the game before touching multiplayer. I have 800 hours and can help you out if you (or anyone else) want to try out multiplayer :)

You want to play the maps in this order (this is 'canonically' how the storyline goes)

Left 4 Dead 1 Protagonists: Bill, Zoey, Louis, Francis
No Mercy
Crash Course
Death Toll
Dead Air
Blood Harvest
The Sacrifice

Left 4 Dead 2 Protagonists: Coach, Rochelle, Nick, Ellis
Dead Center
The Passing
Dark Carnival
Swamp Fever
Hard Rain
The Parish

"Cold Steam" is a non-canon semi-fanmade DLC starring L4D2 characters, play that whenever you wish.

I couldn't finish it. Had a lot of issues.

Like what? Bad writing? Terrible plot? Awkward gameplay? Unresponsive controls? Programming bugs? Stupid design?

Also, how much of an RPG is it? It seemed very much like an action game to me. Is it like The Witcher 2, with action combat and actual decision making? Or is it like Deus Ex HR, an action/adventure with fixed dialogue "options" (pretty much cutscenes) and no RPing?

It's an action RPG with bad dialog, clunky combat, amateurish attempt at dark story telling and no shortage of fetch quests. It was bold in the C&C dept. and had an interesting setting, but that's about it.

Ah, well thanks. I'll stay away from it. I thought it looked interesting but looks are not enough. I am glad indie devs are trying though.

I just bought Universe Sandbox and I am enjoying the hell out of it. Its like the only simulator that lets to create and destroy planets, stars and galaxies. Its for $2 due to community choice for 3 more hours, if anyone is interested.

Anyonr here played Mars:War Logs? Is it any good?

That game isn't worth a cent of your money. You are better of waiting for flash sales on other good games for $10. I think Tomb Raider is a really great game that was unappreciated this year. If you have a chance to get the game for $15 or less get it. However, besides that I can't really see any other games worth buying now of couse with the exception of The Witcher 2, which is only for $5.

Well, I told myself I'd get at least one new game from the Steam sale. My AA blunder doesn't count, so I went with Mafia 2 at 50% off. It's not exactly a popular game so I don't expect it to drop in price more than that. Time to play an Italian gangsta.

So what is that thing about Steam trading cards? Does it have any kind of fun or practical value or is it just another pointless feature like achievements?
Agh, gods, I hate those cards. I'm playing Bioshock Infinite now and every time I turn around I see the little green notification envelope telling me I have another card. Then I got a notice that I had X amount of cards and what could I do with them. WHO THE HELL CARES. There's no way to turn off notifications or opt out of the cards, except staying offline.

Supposedly when you get enough cards, you can make "badges" which you can use to earn rewards. There's a trading forum where people can trade and/or buy cards they didn't get. It's a microtransaction scheme in addition to tormenting compulsive types. A load of bullshit, IOW.

Definitely not a bad game. There is a high reliance on cutscenes, a shitload of driving, and an open world that has nothing to do in it; but i enjoyed it overall. Cool story, enjoyable shooting and the fact that it was a mafia game already gave it a shitload of points from me. Nowhere near enough gangster games around.

Sell them. I've gotten a free game out of those cards. And you gotta admit, the artwork is pretty nice. I'm hoping Steam will add more features to the cards as time goes on.

I don't want to bother with them at all. I just want Steam to leave me in peace. It's fine if it's something in the background I can ignore, like achievements, but all the popups are a menace.

24 or so games bought so far, for great prices. I even made enough money on the card trading to have had 1/3 of it for free. Even bought TW1 and 2 on Steam, since why not.
