Steam save and GOG copy

Sorry if the topic is a bit confusing but I'm hoping someone could shed some light on something for me.

I'm getting a bit tired of steam at the moment and want to use the GOG copy that I am going to activate (thanks CDP/GOG :) ) My question is however will the GOG copy work with a save created by the steam copy? I'm fairly early in chapter 1 at the moment, however if I don't have to restart I would be a happy camper.

Sorry if this question has been asked before, my search skills aren't the best. (and these forums have odd search rules)

GOG version works with saves created with Steam version and vice versa.

yeah, like what JackM said, your saves will be just fine. No matter what version you have, the saves are put in the same place, which is the my documents folder. You might want to back up your saves though, not sure if uninstalling the steam version will also delete the saves.

thanks for the replies, as for steam deleting that mydocuments/witcher2 folder, it can't. Steam, as far as I can tell, can only touch files in the main Steam folder, and not any folders that the game itself creates outside of its install location. But, its always good to backup anyway.
