Steam start installing 2.0 patch then skips

Is the patch out or it skips because it's not out yet? If I run the game it asks permissions to modify the sistem ecc, then comes out a windows saying installing patch 2.0, then it goes to the game and the game is the usual 1,35 game.
WTH?

1.35 only for moment.. maybe a false alarm by Steam.. or whatever like that.

They're probably working with Valve to release the patch at the same time as the normal non-steam version.

This thread made me realize that I probably need to update my 1.2 version if I want to download 2.0. later today.
Thanks. :)

Incidentally, if anyone wants to download something while they're waiting. Gog made the 6million target and Broken Sword is now available. Downloading now :)

Great ANOTHER patch which comes 5-6 hours after everyone gets, or so I assume based on the other patches. Guess it's going to be fun for me to play on Dark Mode for the contest when everyone who doesn't have steam get's such a big headstart.

Last time I buy a game like this on Steam, and by that I mean a game where the developers actually give a shit to give you good and free updates.

I was stupid enough to buy the Witcher 2 on steam, and I'm wondering why the patch hasn't been released yet. So I'm just considering the possibility that steam said "meh" and took a coffee break all day instead.

Yeah, I guess we're out, but knowing CDPR I'm sure they will do their best to compensate players like you somehow (I don't really mind the delay, as I had no intention to compete with real pros).

I don't think it's Steam's fault because I have the retail version and I can't download 2.0 either.

The Gog sale that was supposed to start today didn't. It's still showing as $39.99.

I know that I've mentioned buying Gog version before, but right now, this isn't even on the table as far as I'm concerned. "Spend $40 to re-buy something you already have, and go for a 16GB download instead of one that's supposed to be

It doesn't seem to be just Steam. Most of the retail purchasers who need to download from here haven't got it yet either. Gog's the only one that seems to be working.

I'm definitely buying The Witcher 3 on GoG. Their patches aren't 9GB like Steam.

Nope, I've read a complaint in the other topic from a GOG user that he/she can't download it either. It must be completely random who can download it and who can't, so no evil scheming in the background to favor GOG buyers.

I'm prepared to go at it with no sleep until I finish the game on Dark Mode, hell I even had a plan for game choices, farming, how to do quests what to buy ( just strictly necessary ) etc.

I'll still do it I guess ( especially since I am one of those very few people who finished the game several times on Insane and thus know what to expect in terms of difficulty ) but eh...pissed me off. I knew it was going to happen but I had hoped that they would delay the other versions until it had passed through Steam certification.

Or they could make it so the competition starts after everyone gets their patch, like say tomorrow. Will see.

Devs are oddly quiet though.

They can't. The competition was "First to complete Dark Mode". If there's an extended delay for Steam users, everyone else gets a head start.

I was half-expecting issues with file size at Steam, but not a total absence of download. For the first time ever, I'm as pissed off with CDPR as I am with Steam. They're a major distributer, it should have been co-ordinated.

A few sentences told at a game conference or in interviews do not constitute a contest's rules. In fact we still don't have rules out yet, hell we barely have any info at all.

If they don't want to piss everyone off that doesn't have the GoG version and wants to take part in it then they will delay it, but if they don't delay it then the game is on. Will take a lot more to put off me from trying my best, but I'll be damned if I won't rage if I lose due to some guy getting a few hours advantage.

Hmm only had a problem once with that so called 16 gb patch thing. Suffice to say the next witcher game I buy off GoG. I just din't know much about GoG when I pre-order TW2, and once I found out it was too late.

I'm pretty sure Steam's fixed that.
