I was mumbling about buying\not buying Dishonored too, but someone told me that it's tremendously similar to Thief, and since I've just bought both Thief 4 and Velvet Assassin, I think another stealthy would be a little too much for me.
IDishonored is actually way better than Thief. And you can play it very violently, stealth is just an option....
I can only recommend Dishonored. For the current price on Steam it's a steal.

My preference was violent but non-lethal. The best of both worlds.

That's the problem it's too easy, I didn't find much "fun" in Dishonored's stealth pfft, it doesn't feel like say playing the old Thief games or Splinter Cell Chaos Theory, now that's great planned stealth with consequences. All the fun powers in Dishonored are they ones that aren't geared towards stealth. The lore is great but other than that stealth is blink blink blink, OP as hell, you could 'pretend' that it's not by not using blink but that doesn't change much.I've played it completely without lethal violence if not necessary. Hm, I'm not a challenge fanatic and I thought that the game in stealth was just fun. But to each their own.
Age of Empires was my first game ever. I had two years of constant fun when I first bought it and I still do have fun when I play it now. I mainly use the editor now, which is quite more user friendly than AOEIII in my opinion. The game has great campaigns if you are into history. And it's an awesome game overall.
I think there is a pro scene too on the game, if you watch a couple of videos of pros playing you will get a good idea about it.
It's the best medieval RTS ever made. Excellent campaign, great mechanics, very enjoyable, WOLOLO etc.
Do not confuse it with the likes of Total War or Civ though, it's closer to Starcraft than it is to those (I mean, they're not RTS's, but making this clarification just in case.)

Warcraft then? Basically, you're playing in real-time on a small map, not managing an entire country. Basically, watch a gameplay vid (this video, for example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=87mi83UfHKQ) before you buy, as it's nothing like Civ or Total War.
