Steam Version - REDKit

I purchased the Stm version of The Witcher 2 Enhanced Edition over the weekend from Steam. But how do I get and use REDKit?

Steam versions of the game are already patched with the Gamer's Ed of Redkit, so you don't need to dl anything but the mods themselves.

Follow the instructions which follow "Don't feel like creating a mod"? on this page : http://redkit.cdprojektred.com/index.php?c=download SKIP step 1, you already have that patch.

If you're a modder, you'll need to make an account on the Redkit site (you can use the same username/password as this site), and download the modders version.

But in order to use the editor, you'll need to redeem your GOG backup of TW2, which you do here: http://www.gog.com/witcher/backup

Make a GOG account (you can use the same stuff as here again), and enter your product code; the game should show up in your library.

Hope this helps.

I don't know what you mean by redeeming a GOG backup? I have never registered nor used GOG, and honestly, I didn't want to use it at all. But if I wish to use the editor, I have to download, register, and use GOG's services? And I can't use my steam version I bought, but this GOG version?

As of right now there isn't a Steam version of the Redkit editor, but it should be on its way =)

From the site I linked:

Installing REDkit (Modders' Edition) downloaded from this website on a Steam copy of the game will break the game's compatibility with Steam (which means no overlay, no Steam cloud, no achievements). It is recommended to either wait for the Steam release of REDkit (Modders' Edition) or to install the free gog.com backup copy of the game and install the REDkit on it: http://www.gog.com/witcher/backup

So if you don't want to use GOG, you'll have to wait.

Thanx Cmdr_Silverbolt... Guess I saw the great price on Steam, and jumped too soon. So I'll just wait for the Steam version of REDKit, since I'm not a serious modder, just a tinkerer...

Sure, no problem. Just to clarify, you can still use mods made by others right now.

Also, GOG has no "services". It is just a site with a library you can download games from. No client, no online requirements, no hassle.

This, gog is just website where you can download games, there is no client like with steam, you just download instalation files, you can even burn them later on cd or dvd.
