steam vs retail

hi, ok i bought The Witcher Enhanced Edition through steam but got The Witcher 2 Premium Edition from a shop, i obviously want to carry through my choices etc from 1 to 2 but im unsure if this will happen as 1 is on steam but 2 isnt. can anybody shed any light on this or is there a way to workaround this lil prob?

btw the reason i dont know if stuff will carry over is because i will have to play through 1 again as all my stuff is now on my super duper new pc.

This is no problem as you only need a savegame-file, which is not influenced by wether you have the steam or non-steam version of the game.

If you have both Witcher and Witcher 2 installed, Witcher 2 should be able to find your Witcher savegame folder and use games from that.

If you have Witcher 2 but not the original Witcher installed on a computer, you can drop your Witcher savegame (which must be from the end of the game: Ice Plains or the Order cloister) in the Witcher 2 savegames folder.

If you only need a savegame with your decisions in TW, you can grab one here, as not a lot of states in TW will actually carry over. Read the description and you'll see. Have fun with the new pc and game.
