Still interested in Dragon Age 3...? The devs SPEAK...

This is not intended to be ONE OF THOSE THREADS... (pun)

Im posting this video about the Dragon Age panel at Pax East, basically because for me it was intersting to see some thoughtful gamer feedback delivered in the face of developers (for a change) and not only PR bulshit or fan mind-less applause...

First video is the basic propaganda, and some cool "theoretic" ideas...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OZhTbhUpixY&feature=player_embedded#!

Questions and comments from the public...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f0nDyB7Eva8&feature=related

And basically the things that struck me the most were...
On the up-side
1- seeing the devs clearly more humble than most of the time, acknowledging thoughtful criticism as they should (and I thik they have a pretty good idea that if they fuck up their next game it's not only "game over" for the Dragon Age fran4chise, but their jobs as well... seeing how EA is handling things).

On the down side:
2) All that hyper-applause from the audience after hearing; "We'll do an RPG like it should be made..." as if the devs are granting you Heaven... That was just how fucking RPGs WERE MADE 10-15 years ago...!!! Its not like they are inventing the wheel... Thats clearly how much the video-game industry has deteriorated the word RPG...

"We'll do an RPG like it should be made..."

Does it mean "10$ Day one DLC to unlock the character who is already on disk" and "Choose your favorite color" ending?

Half of the development process for Bioware is bullshit PR. I don't buy a thing they say anymore.

My final Bioware purchase was Dragon Age 2. All of their games slowly devolve into mass market appeal action adventure games with asinine stories. Their going to "admit to issues" with Dragon Age 2; this spin will hope to get back some DA:O fans, and then we will get the same crap Dragon Age 2 gave us. As a longtime gamer I always thought in the back of my mind EA would pull the same crap that they did with Bullfrog, Maxis, Westwood, etc... So in all honestly I shouldn't be surprised.

Bioware is dead. And has been for quite a while.

I don't give a damn to such a point, that I can't be bothered to watch the vids, I'd rather play EE.

Am I interested? No. After that abomination called Dragon Age 2 and ME3 (oh the ending...Marauder Shields was right), including the day 1 DLCs I'm not sure I even want to hear about BioWare anymore. The last good game they made was DA:O, and I don't think I can expect something like that in the future. So no, farewell, BioWare, at least until you learn not to see your customers as just filled wallets.

I will not buy another Bioware game and any EA game. I'll never forgive them for killing my favorite universe (ME).

Neither can I forgive them for killing my favourite one (DA), and then desecrating its corpse. :(

The button-awesome connection, wonder why Silverman isn't with Laidlaw. Gaider became the victim of user-oriented writing demands, there where better written fan fictions than what he was allowed to create.

They're spouting the same old platitudes to try and retain their fanbase, and the suckers will of course buy it. They don't want to make a game but barely interactive movies. It's irrelevant really, CDPR's shamed them in every way, story, gameplay and setting. They're old news, they've been recycling the same story and characters for years now and I don't think they'll ever abandon that format.

If they had any integrity, they'd be fixing the abortion of a game that is Dragon Age 2. Instead they're making the same empty promises that preceeded all of their games, and asking us to trust them both financially and creatively when they've not shown us any reason to do so.

They'll make the same retarded childish crap in Dragon Age 3, and the fans will happily lick it up. Just like they did Mass Effect 3.

We still have Witcher 2 and cd projekt red. Nothing to worry.

I don't recall such a time ever existing ;)

Before NWN1 there was the Baldur's Gate series (Bioware's true work of art), Planescape: Torment, the whole Gold Box series, Betrayal at Krondor, ... there were countless RPG's better than NWN. And still, NWN wasn't that bad compared to that mockery of a game DA2 is.

I had forgotten about Bioware until Dragon Age: Origins came out, which I actually enjoyed. I was disappointed when I found NO "spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate", but ended up liking it for what it was. Too bad they crapped on their own universe, it had potential.

Did he mean by that, that RPGs are meant to be railroaded corridor shooters, or mutant-rat-thwackers in endless basements, with gameplay having nothing to do with the pulp-fiction story as well as the mere illusion of choice and consequence, which they claim it is the peak of game-design?

You've got to have some cheek to say that.
