Still no Eyefinity support?

Still no Eyefinity support?

So its been 11 months since The Witcher 2 was released, and NVidia Surround has been supported and working since patch 1.2. But ATI Eyefinity has been ignored?

There was a fan made memory hack that allowed ATI users to play in eyefinity in patch 1.0, 1.1 and 1.2, but CD Projekt RED released a patch to stop it from working. In a post by an admin said they only implemented NVidia surround because they "received help from NVidia".

Hey guys.

We have never claimed that The Witcher 2 will ever support Eyefinity. It's an additional feature in the game and an external technology - not our technology. Surround support is a result of help we received from Nvidia. It's thanks to their support we have this feature in our game. It's not about who we like better. We didn't choose Nvidia and they didn't pay us. They just helped us to get the best from their technology. We are open to the idea of adding Eyefinity support to our game but it's not entirely up to us.

Did you ask ATI for help on implementing Eyefinity into The Witcher 2? if you did, what was their response?

It took some random fan like 2-3 days to create a hack that allowed it to run in Eyefinity properly, and then instead of CD Projekt RED implementing Eyefinity support, they go out of their way to patch the game so the hack didn't work.

It wouldn't take CD Projekt RED long to implement Eyefinity, because NVidia Surround and ATI Eyefinity are practically the same thing, the only difference is the underlying technology that makes it work. If it works with NVidia Surround there should be no reason why it won't work with Eyefinity, unless they made it to work with specific driver IDs (NVidia driver IDs).

If a random fan made a hack easily in a few days and he had no knowledge of The Witcher 2 code, how much effort do you think would be required by the CD Projekt RED development team?

For those who dont know what Eyefinity/Surround is, watch this video

I used to think that CD Projekt RED was a company that supported its customers and listened to the community. they gave Australians a $25 off voucher at GOG because of the increased price in oceanic areas because of licencing issues, and they release free DLCs? But then they turn around and support Nvidia users and not ATI users?

As it stands now, i will be advising all my friends NOT to buy the Xbox360 version of this game, I'm not going to support a company that doesn't support all of its customers.

Eyefinity support is different from putting together a mod that spreads the display across a wide screen.

There are specific logo compatibility requirements for Eyefinity. If you are to develop a commercial product that claims to support Eyefinity, you must meet these requirements. They go far beyond merely providing a wide display; they involve detailed ability to control placement of UI elements under many different screen conditions.

A fan-made mod need not meet those requirements, but a product for sale is not the same at all.

Since AMD did not provide assistance in preparing an Eyefinity implementation that met its requirements, CDPR justifiably did not do so.

They said they didn't choose NVidia. Why would they turn around and then reward the competitor of the company who actually reached out to them to make their technology work? If they turned around and chose the people who didn't make any effort (and again, before they weren't choosing anyone) it would clearly be taken the wrong way by just about everyone involved. Wouldn't it then be ATI's responsibility to reach out? Doesn't this seem like something you should be complaining to them about?

And yet in the many, many months since, fans haven't figured out how to make it work again, indicating that it's likely not anywhere near as easy to implement as you seem to think. Perhaps it got more difficult due to something they had to include to fix a bug? There were certainly plenty of them that affected the playability of the game in a much more real way than the absence of this. Saying they went out of their way and deliberately sabotaged it is just unrealistically jumping to a conspiracy theory, though. I get that you're disappointed by this, but let's keep things in perspective.

It's not secret that NVIDIA send their people out to help game developers implement features. If AMD didn't do this then it's their fault. AMD Eyefinity was never supported so if you feel that strongly, you should have never bought the game.

Yeah, let's bash the company and make bad PR because of 0.42% customers have to play the game just like the other people. To hell with after-launch support, taking out DRM, free DLC and other content, free Enhanced Edition.

As others advised, get a perspective. Because with this stance you probably regret every game you bought nowadays.

That is just bs.

Nobody gives a shit about eyefinity/nvidia surround/matrox everybody wants that stupid letterboxing removed. The mod did just that. CDPR doesn't need to do anything else. CDPR doesn't need to make a huge public announcement to state the eyefinity works they can just say "multimonitor resolutions work properly (such as nvidia surround etc.)"

I haven't seen any other game been this stupid.
